13 Years Since We Lost a Ranger
Tomorrow marks the 13th anniversary since the death of original Yellow Ranger Thuy Trang. For those of you that don't know, or are to young to remember, Thuy died in a car accident while driving near San Fransisco. Thuy played Trini in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers in 80 episodes, as well as doing the voice of her character fir the tie-in game. She also stared in The Crow: City of Angels as Kali, and Spy Hard as an unnamed manicurist.

RIP she is still my favorite female Ranger.

If there was ever gonna be a Power Rangers Hall of Fame, I bet she'd be one of the very first inductees. (In fact, that sounds like a good idea for this forum, don't you think?!)
RIP, Thuy Trang. May The Power ALWAYS Protect You! |
God rest her soul

Hall of Fame? Not a bad idea. However, I think all the original MMPR would be automatic inductees as they were the originals.
I hope Thuy is resting in peace and looking down, seeing how much the Power Rangers fandom has exploded in 21 years. I hope she's proud of what she helped create. |

What's curious is that AMC decided to show The Crow: City of Angels yesterday morning. Knowing that she was in it, I took a look. Well, suffice it to say, it's not a kids movie, but AMC is definitely the cutting type. Remarkably, her character of Kali did not speak much. Either way, it's sad she didn't get to see what she helped to create. Her acting credits are certainly not vast, and per my understanding, she and her family had a difficult period well before PR.
She deserved to see what resulted and how much people care. While some condemn PR for multiple reasons, one of which being the race question of MMPR, she still did a terrific job with what she did have to work with. In fact, didn't she have a leg injury? As I understand it, she STILL got in the suit for the actual show's action scenes! TRINI FOREVER! |
Rest In Peace Thuy. You inspired a generation of female Rangers. Thank you for you're contribution to the wonderful franchise that is Power Rangers.
