Opinion Poll: Will 2017 be Ninjas or Trains?
BraveTokuFan on Twitter gave me the idea for this question. We know now that they skipped Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters completely in favor of the much more toy-friendly Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (Toy-friendly meaning Dinosaurs). And I'm curious.
How many of you think that they'll skip Ressha Sentai ToQger in favor of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger? And why? (And don't make this a hate thread about any one particular series. Just your opinion on why you think they might skip, or why you think they might not.) |
Or...they COULD do the reverse and go with Go-Busters...? Lol.

Looking at the big picture here. Power Rangers airs in how many countries? If ANY are Europe, then ToQGer is a hard skip. The US ain't big on trains no more, but that's because we don't have the crazy amount like the rest of the world in comparison to land.
Land=Population density Candyman Now, while Saban may go 'I don't like it,' they'll probably be forced to adapt ToQGer. I do believe Go-Busters is the exception that proves the rule for Sentai skippage. Plus, some episodes will be interesting to see adapted. Such as Diesel's episode. |
IDK where their heads are at. They deemed ToQger childish initially but said they'd wait on final sales plus what comes after. Ninninger feels more awkward theme-wise, but that was apparently done on purpose (looking at Shurikenjin & StarNinger). But Ninninger could always pull a Gaim & be a serious story with a goofy theme. All I can say is wait until Ninninger airs, then we might have some idea.

I think they probably will do adapt ToQger, for reasons I'll list below.
1. The fact that the trains can break apart and form some interesting combinations will probably be expanded with the Zord Builder (ZB) system, allowing for increased play-ability. 2. The, to be perfectly honest, the relative simplicity of the trains would allow for the creation of many new ones, ala the recently revealed ammonite zord. 3. Remember, this is aimed at kids primarily. Last I checked kids still like trains. |
Well while I would like to see ToQger adapted somehow, though I'm almost positive that they would pick Ninjas instead, because well the toys would probably be a lot more fun to play with.

Also I think skipping shows is going to be a trend now as long if Saban keeps on working with Nick. Either they skip shows or fall behind adapting seasons. If they don't skip then the suits and footage will age over time. We don't want to repeat the same issue that Saban had with VR Troopers again with the footage and suits looking dated ;). |
I'm expecting Ninjas.
Ninjas who start out as one guy leading a secret life that gets discovered by his friends who join him in a quest defeat the evil Yokai threat, each create Zords based on stuff they like rather than some cohesive theme (explaining Shurikenjin's zany design), and are later joined when a new character (a rodeo fan who wants to live on the farm instead of the city) combines a broken Ninja Morpher with his favorite Cheeseburger novelty phone to create his Morpher and becomes the Star Sheriff Ranger. |
Just imagine toddlers playing with Thomas the train when all of the sudden...

I think they will skip Toqger because the ninja theme is more appealing to kids than trains. If kids are into trains, the pink ninja ranger has a train, so everyone is happy.
Also, the Toq-oh's transformation has a boner which will get complaints from parents and mocked on websites. If it gets made fun of on the late night shows, it would hurt Power Ranger's image. Its imagination theme is going to turn off adult fans, which Saban does not want to do, as he wants to bring back the old fans. The most important reason is money, and like Guyver Spawn said, Samurai's merchandise sold very well and a similar asian theme like ninjas would have a good chance of mirroring Samurai's sales. |
If they do skip ToQger then I hope they use Emperor of Darkness second monster form suit in 2017 similar how Lost Galaxy did with Hinelar Monster Form from Megaranger.

They might skip. I feel they will. Just depends on how Ninninger turns out.
|
One of my friends who lives around where I live whose BIG on Tokusatsu pointed out that they were probably gonna skip ToQger cause of how little sense it made & that trains don't even appeal to kids in the USA very much these days which is the parents' fault when you think about it, especially when we have 2 really popular train shows that having a large popularity so, if they skiped ToQger in favor of airing Ninninger then something ain't right in the heads of the marketing group for Saban Brands.
|
I finally voted. And my opinion mirrors a lot of what I've been reading here. This show, Power Rangers (And any kids show, if we're honest), exists to make money. Sell the toys. When it comes down to it they'll have a better time selling Ninjas than they would trains. Ninjas appeal to their demographic more. US kids just aren't that big into trains like they used to be.

I doubt they'll skip, really. Just seems rather unlikely.

I say there's a fifty fifty chance of a skip.
|
I think Saban should ask kids on what suits designs that they like the most. Take a vote if they like the suits for ToQger or Ninninger. Having kids see which one that they like better can help since they are the ones buying the toys.

Trains versus ninjas is this a trick question?
|
i pick trains for 2017
|
I think doing Trains would be a set back. Ninja's.... Kid's love ninjas.
|
Ironically this poll has become a runaway train.
|
Sorry, I tried to say something connected to the topic. I'm an epic failure. T~T

Easily marketable gimmick, mecha that could make good use of the ZB system, gimmick that wouldn't make the marketers afraid to make yellow and pink rangers ("It's not a girl ranger, just turn the dial to the number 1, and now it's the Red ranger in the pink suit!"), and a mecha system that's simple overall (So it won't require much (If any) dumbing down to release). While trains might not be the most popular thing in the states, I don't think they'll skip it. |
If they don't skip it then they are going to fall behind adapting Super Sentai. The suits and footage won't last forever. We don't want to have the same issue that we had with VR Troopers again.

If Saban adapt ToQger in 2017/2018 then we will be three-four years behind and be four-five years behind in 2019/2020 if they adapt Ninninger in 2019.
|
I have to echo the statements made by a few others and say that trains just aren't as popular in the US as they used to be. However, if Saban does decide to skip ToQger for Ninninger, then they'll have to redo Starninger's morpher. I don't think a cheeseburger morpher is going to fly with western audiences.
|
I expect them to skip Toqger, mainly because i don't think kids would like the suits.

As much as I like ToQGer I doubt Saban will be using the show and go with Power Rangers Ninja Stars instead.
