Shuriken Sentai Ninninger Episode 3- "The Vicious Gabi Appears!" Discussion
As the Kibaoni Army grows, so do the Ninningers' talents!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
I wonder how will they bully Fuuka Today? That in some way is now a custom. Poor Girl.

I just watched the Raw version this morning but it was a pretty good episode. Nothing has really hooked me into this series story wise and I don't care for any of the characters yet. I kind of feel like AkaNinger is just a less likable King. However, I love all the designs from the monsters, the mecha, and the sentai team. I'll continue to watch for the monsters and mecha alone.

I already know that the Gabi here is most likely referring to the onomatopoeia for biting, but I could easily make jokes about people named after the Archangel Gabriel becoming rabid or something. :lol

I am totally enjoying this series so much now. I like the friendly rivalry more with Yakumo and Takaharu. Nagi was a whole lot of fun and I like the book focused character learning more to actually have to fight rather than think. The new General is awesome, him vs Takaharu was awesome. I am just really enjoying everything about NinNinGer right now.

Ninninger is okay. It's not doing much for me, but it does seem to be improving a little each episode. The only major issues I currently take with the show is that the catch phrases are getting on my nerves and Red is insufferable in general. That aside, some of the ninja wackiness is fun.
On this episode specifically, I liked the episode's willingness to break away from "the formula" so early in the show. The episode gets a bonus point for using a yokai I already knew of and combining it with roller skates was a fun idea. Shame he didn't get to grown big. The water broomstick/surfboard bit was random fun to. On the other hand, this was suppose to be a Yellow focus episode and I think it completely failed at that. Red was stealing as much focus as he could and, as I already said, Red is insufferable. On a side note, half the fun of yokai is learning more about them. While looking up more on Kasha, I came across this. http://hyakumonogatari.com/2012/05/0...ing-cat-demon/ |
I liked the episode overall. Its not my favorite of the three but I had fun with it.
Gabi Raizou was okay as anew villain but he really has nothing going for him except that hes voiced by Kenji Matsuda. The character itself is actually pretty boring so far and I hope they will do more with him than just being angry all the time. The episode also really suffered due to Red and Yellows poor acting skills. Especially with Red you can tell that aside from a small role in GTO 2014 he has not done anything acting wise prior to Ninninger. Everytime he goes all Gentaro it doesnt work with him since it comes of as way too forced. I hope he imrpoves in the coming episodes. Its really hard watching "typical" early episode Sentai acting again after the last few years had experienced actors in the roles that were pretty solid from the get go. |

Let's all just hope that this is an experience thing and not a talent thing. Ninninger has so much going for it, I'd hate to see it derailed by two less-than-stellar performances. |
Overtime still isn't working for me. And now my other source isn't either :(. Nothing is wrong with my tablet or wireless router.

Hope that I'm not the only one who want to punch Takaharu every time he goes kiiittaaa. It was so annoying, forceful, stupid and far less amazìng compared to Gentarou. None of the previous Reds annoy me as Takaharu so far at the early of series.
Overall, a good episode. Both heroes and villian side got interesting develop plot. Quote:

Actually really liked this episode. It wasn't mind-blowingly amazing or anything, but I thought it was pretty entertaining and did a good job of continuing to introduce the cast's personalities. I still don't know how long I'll stay interested in the show, but for now it's starting to win me over.

Was finally able to see episode 3( for some reason i was only able to open an unsubbed version) the General and the MOTW were awesome looking.

I really don't get why people say Akaninger is just another King.
I've seen enough sentai to know that "king" has been done long before Kyoryuger was even conceived. |

He's Gentaro Kisaragi with ninja skills. Space Kitaiiii!!!! It's not a bad thing, just fun to watch. I also see some Momotaros in there too. Just like Kasumi is the Luka of the season, even though Fuuka has her hairstyle. I'm glad though that Fuuka wasn't used as the comedy prop this episode. I've got a soft spot for her. The episode was a good foothold for more stories. We got our first big general, a little more backstory for the protagonists aide, and it was a Nagi focused episode, even though most of the Ninningers seem to be paper thin for their character development. The only one that has any real dimension so far is Kasumi due to how she's shown she's the one with the common sense. Is it wrong that I wish Nagi was more like Sawada from Faiz? Perhaps it's the banana b-boy getup. |

I'm not really saying AkaNinger the character is King but something about the actor and his mannerisms just reminds me of King. I don't know. Either way, I'm not really liking him at all, haha. King is one of my favorites though. I'm pretty new to sentai too. I've only seen a hand full of seasons. I plan on catching up eventually but it's going to take awhile...

I feel like this episode was more about Gabi Raizou's appearance and the introduction of the Gashadokuro monster type than it was about Nagi. In fact, I feel like out of all the Ninningers, Nagi's the weakest in personality and acting (the best ones so far are Yakumo's and Kasumi's actors). He just sounds bored sometimes, even when he's dangling off the moving truck. I'll admit, we're STILL in the third episode, so it might take a while for the actors to really get comfortable in the roles, but so far, not very blown away right now.

Raizou's face is pretty crazy with that hannya mask torn on the center. I like how Matsuda is not doing his usual husky voice and trying something a little different. I like his badass husky voice dont get me wrong, but kudos for trying something different.

Okay, I can see where some of the Daigo similarities are coming from, but it still isn't anywhere near that bad. I liked Gabi a lot, but what was the reason for having a mech battle here? It felt tacked on and did not belong here.
BTW, what type of Yokai are both Izzayoi and Gabi supposed to be? |

I believe Gabis' a Hanaya; a demon-mask used in kabuki theater. |
