Female Riders?
 

Just a random question: if a Kamen Rider series came out with a female rider as a main character, would you be okay with it? Or if someone had a fan fic idea with a female rider, would you be okay with it? Just curious! I want to know everyone's input on this!:D

It would be horrible since many people would claim her as their Waifu.

I'd find it fine, but I agree with Former- it could easily descend into bickering.

Yes. I want a show with either a female main Rider or an all female Rider-cast.

Sadly, not going to happen. Kamen Rider is aimed at boys, just as PreCure is aimed at girls. And to sell toys, children need to have a hero they can relate to. It's dumb, but that's how it works.

At least we get some female Riders, even if most of them are poorly written and die before the show's over.

I hope we get some more female Riders in the future. Hell, Drive would be a lot more enjoyable to me if Kiriko was Drive and Shinnosuke her partner. Kiriko got more character development anyways.

And to be fair, most females in Kamen Rider I've seen are actually pretty cool characters, they just don't get armor and superpowers too often.

Maybe it could work if they had a thing similar to a mix of Double and Drive- a pair of riders, working together, both as the protagonist from day one. I can see that working well.

I'd be down with a female main Rider.
What I wouldn't be down for is the episode discussions turning into "OMG SHE'S SO HOT IN THIS EPISODE NEWEST WAIFU OBTAINED" every episode.

I thought about that too, but I'm afraid they would overload the female Rider into a total cliche in a desperate attempt to sell toys to girls. Or call her “Micro Wave Human Bodyslam”.

But I agree, if we ever see a female Rider in the spotlight it will be as a secondary Rider. And if that proves itself, maybe...

While I have nothing against a female main rider, I don't really find the idea that appealing because meh... I kinda got used to male protagonists. And as most people said, the bickering and constant talk about her being hot and all the waifu shit is something I don't really need. Fanfiction is okay, though.
But I like the concept of a double rider-team with both a male and a female lead, which is what I've been thinking about a lot for writing a fanfiction.
Also, more female riders in general would be fine, as long as they're not as annoying as Femme or Shuki and don't have to die (like Nadeshiko and Mayu- glad at least those two survived).

Actually, Nadeshiko dies in the movie... she just become some form of energy thingie when the bad guy is blown up, because aliens are strange.

She gets better, though.

I would love it...provided she was written competently and not just a walking stereotype or overly cute/sexy/cold.

But it won't happen for the same reason a female red*I don't really count female ShinkenRed here*or sixth Sentai hero won't.

Execs think rightly or wrongly that boys won't support a female hero.

However, she returns in Movie Taisen Ultimatum, so she is technically alive.

I would kill for a female Rider main character. Or an all female Rider team.

As far as marketing and demographics goes, I'm not sure it's at all possible for the main Rider to be female. I'd certainly dig it if the primary secondary Rider was, though.

Maybe they could do something like with the Genesis Driver, where there's several of the belt she uses and multiple characters wear them? That way the belt itself would still appeal to young boys, but the main featured user in the show is a woman.

I kinda find it funny that effiminate looking guys like Alata and Philip are given lead roles while masculine girls are just there as supporting characters.

sorry double post..you should check out my rider Virtune although most of the story details are still on paper as well as the other fan made riders...seriously everyone here has made a main female fan rider at least once.

Supposedly they're meant to be eye candy for the moms stuck watching the show with their kids.

It's still a show primarily aimed as little boys. And no matter if they're girly or tomboy, young boys usually don't identify with girls.

a secondary female rider would be nice though.
just so long as they don't focus on their gender.

I'm actually planning out potential Kamen Rider fan series with both of those.

if Nadeshiko were the secondary rider of Fourze, i would not mind. I'd love it.

Only thing I hated about Naeshiko was the sound affects it used EVERY time she hit something.

While I do like Meteor, I wouldn't mind that either. She might be a movie rider, but I always considered her a member of the main cast somehow. I really like her.

I always thought Nadeshiko was kind of the worst...

I wanted a main female Rider like Yuri as Ixa or...Yeah. Like that.

Yuri would make a great protagonist! Nadeshiko is more a supporting character, she wasn't defined enough character-wise to be more than that. But Yuri sure had main character potential.

I'd be perfectly okay with it heck I wish more female riders would be in series and not movie or special exclusive

Nadeshiko was basically there just to satisfy Sakamoto's boner, really.

Okay, I haven't really watched Fource and the only reason I know about the music and souns affects that play during Nadeshiko fighting was because of the Wizard/Fourze War Battle Ultimatum movie.

Nadeshiko was originally a shape-shifting lifeform from space, the original form being some kind of liquid/slime (and I totally forgot the actual name of this slime). When she came to earth, she took the form of a student from Ryusei's school, Nadeshiko Misaki.
