Movie Wars Full Throttle Discussion

The final ending to Gaim, and Drive faces a mysterious thief! Discuss! |
Such a fun movie! Both solo portions were really exciting (though Gaim's a tad more than Drive's, but they were both pretty neat) and the crossover part was really fun to watch. Kouta and Shinnosuke were hilarious together!
What I really loved was that the Gaim part had a very strong focus on Micchi and Takatora. It was good to see the two of them finally fighting together. Mai also had plenty of screentime too, which made me really happy :) |

Overtime subs are up, which I know people love :D |
Been watching it for the last hour, it's great so far.
Edit: Finished it, was pretty good. Remember kids, Drive and Gaim destroyed a planet before Kuuga did. |
Okay, that Gaim part was pretty much a Kureshima brothers movie, and I adore it for being that. And Takatora is once more cemented as the biggest badass in Gaim, and a strong contender for being the biggest badass in all of Kamen Rider. That first henshin into Zangetsu Shin was awesome.
The Drive part was okay. Though Gou was kinda being a dick for not helping out when Drive is clearly out of comission, or later when the whole world is at stake. So all the Megahex generated invess and roidmudes just stopped when the planet was destroyed, right? They didn't seem to self destruct or anything. So do the beat riders now just have a lifeless robot Kaito lying around? |

Really really enjoyed this film and its easily my favorite Taisen since Megamax.
The Gaim portion was full of Kureshima badassery and I just loved Takatoras Henshin when fighting against Megahex. The Drive part was fun too but not as good as the Gaim one. I felt that the Drive part was a tad too long and felt kinda stretched out during the end. The actual Taisen part was just absolute and pure fun. Kouta and Shinnosuke have great chemistry together and I would love to see them go on an adventure again. |
Just finished the film. (A hard day at work, ha!) Man, did I love the Gaim portion. I hadn't realized how much I missed those fruity kids and, holy crap, is Takatora a badass.
The Drive portion was a little less successful for me. The overacting and comedy of it all is a bit jarring to me. (The series transition in a nutshell). I dug Lupin's transformation, though, and the last fifteen minutes or so are pretty good. The team-up portion was pretty awesome. Of course, a Baron appearance will do that. Equally, I tend to give the actual combined portions more of a pass just because it's cool to watch the various series interact. Also, I love, love, love the crossover forms, ridiculous as they are. Tridoron's hover conversion was quite nice, too! All in all, it was a heck of an entertaining flick. Sadly, I'm now in the Gaim is over doldrums again. :cry |
That was one awesome movie, I love it!
Both parts where great, and the Taisen-end was pretty fantastic too. I loved the Gaim-part for the great action, the Kureshima brothers nailed it, so awesome. It was cool that they took Kouta out of it as long as possible, so Takatora and Micchy could deal with Ryoma. They only thing I missed was more lockseeds and belts, I wanted to see Bravo, Knuckle and Gridon joining in too, but I cna see why they left them out. The Drive-part was surprisingly entertaining, Lupin's Kamen Rider-suit is amazing. I want an SHF of that! Story was okay too, a neat little case. In retrospect the foreshadowing of Chaser becoming a Rider and the cameo of Mach are kinda neat too. The end was just so much fun. The Gaim-guys, Drive and the Roidmude Generals fighting together - perfect. Kaito was also well implemented for what its worth, they did it better than I expected. But the best thing were the buddy moments between Shinnosuke and Kouta, I laughed my ass off. Trying to get into the Tridoron with the bulky armor, Shinnosuke telling „Space God“ to put the seat-belts on, and the whole big race on the Megahex planet. That was one great movie, so glad I could finally see! |

It's still no Megamax, but it's pretty damn close. |
Kamen Rider Drive x Gaim - Movie Wars Full Throttle - Poll & Discussion
So.
What did you guys think? |
I thought the movie was really good. I loved the gaim part a lot because it showed that micchy, ryoma, and takatora are all badasses. Mostly takatora and mitsuzane.
I liked the drive part because it was really nice to see a case like the one with lupin. The combined I loved it because if was awesome! Type fruits is as cool and ridiculous looking as I thought. Over I thought it was a nice movie but now I am sad because gaim is over and baron is dead. R.I.P Kaito Kumon aka Kamen Rider Baron. |
Eh, I've only seen the Gaim part, and it was okay. Didn't really feel like seeing the Drove part or the end yet. Drives a good show, but this movie was released at the first half of Drive, some day I'm gonna finish the movie, not today.

Any chance the existing thread could be merged with this one to keep the discussion centralized? :D
|
Yes, I can do that :)
|
Thanks! Much appreciated!

Best combination movie in a while. Man I missed Gaim. Both parts had me glued to watching all the way through.
Baron...the feels. |
Amazing, great finish to gaim and a neat story that fills in some loose ends with drive.
|
This was a good one. It was nice to see all the Gaim characters again and although I do think the Drive section was a bit too long Lupin is a cool character. The crossover section was excellent though - the crossover forms being so goofy and hilarious they can't even fit in Tridoron, the robo-Baron, the space battle. I do wonder about Lupin though; maybe a epilogue villain like Jam?

Which doesn’t really make sense considering he has no physical form at the end of the movie that could be locked away. Maybe the subbing-people took a liberty here and the question was just if Shinnosuke really defeated Lupin, not that he is imprisoned. I don't think we will see him in the show again, maybe in a future Taisen movie as one of the bad guys. |
Oh man, that movie brought the feels in full force.
And from here on out, Kouta Kazuraba should be referred to strictly as Mr. Space God. |
I love love LOVE the nods to Gaim's continuity that they kept in place.
For starters - even though Takatora takes a generic Sengoku Driver and the faceplate of Zangetsu appears when he grabs the Helheim Fruit, he never gets the yellow belt, symbolizing (in a way) that the belt is still a "mass production" aka "non-binding" belt. Or the fact that Micchy still had the Melon Energy Lock Seed (only the Genesis Driver was disabled) and that's how Takatora is able to go back to Zangetsu Shin. Those little nods made the Gaim portion that much more enjoyable for me. And of course, Zangetsu Shin with the Melon Defender. |
That was the most fun I've had watching anything in a while. :D
A storytelling masterpiece? The utmost quality of cinema? Not at all. It was just good, crazy fun. Shin and Kouta are total bros and NEED to meet up again in a future crossover. They're so good together. XD |

damn this was epic. Best KR movie ever. So much energy, and the characters we love just going . . . "bananas"
and oh my god when SHF Trideron comes out, Drive and Gaim are definitely cruising the streets together so much awesome |

You could argue that it was because the drivers were made by the Megahex so it can do that, but since the belt was scanned of memories they could just have yellow belts. Quote:
Tamashii agrees ;) |
The feels!!! :(
I loved this movie. Sure, there were problems (Like where in the heck did Lupin get Break Gunner Data?), but the badassery in the Gaim portion, especially from both Kureshima brothers and Robo-Kaito shines through, plus the 'teamwork' from Kouta and Shinnosuke. Such teamwork of shouting at eachother. And it was nice to see Mitchy did still have the Kiwi and Melon Energy Lockseeds, Budou being 'the last one'. Now if only there had been enough drivers for Hase, Oren and Zack... And that last Gaim scene teared me up. God damn this show... |

|
Huh... you're right Oren and Jonouchi had those, and they did have the faceplates, just checked. Weird. Oh well that's that then, good enough for me :)

Finally sat down and watched OVertime's sub of the thing.
This movie still suffers the same problem as most other Movie Wars do: Drive's portion of the film just feels like filler and I hate how it's only out of sheer coincidence that the two chars meet and fight together. I will say this though, the last half of the movie was a lot of fun to watch. Kouta and Shinnouske have a lot of good chemistry with one another. I lost it watching the two trying to fit inside the Trideron, and Gaim's back seat driving was great. Although the final battle on the MEgahex planet was totally ripping off the Deathstar assault scene a tad. |
I loved this movie. I thought it was funny and cool.
|
Gaim segment was pretty solid. Drive was completely pointless in this movie. I could literally cut his entire segment and nothing would be lost. There is no reason for this movie to be a crossover. Maybe a double feature, but not a crossover.

W's in 2010 and Fourze's in Megamax managed to get past that, but I personally feel OOO's in War Core, Wizard's in Ultimatum and Gaim's in Sengoku Battle all suffer from the same thing. |
