S.H.Figuarts Shinkochu Seihou Kamen Rider Kuuga Rising Mighty
June Retail Release 5940 yen http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...903/D9Ugcd.jpg |
Slight correction- it's 5940 yen, not 5500 (not that it's that big of a difference)
I'm still not crazy about any of the main four rising forms, but I'm glad we're getting more Kuuga and SS releases. I wonder when/if we'll get N-Daguva-Zeba. |
...Retail? This minor Mighty retool gets to be a retail release but the final form is stuck as an exclusive. That's kind of...lame. I mean...yeah, Ultimate was barely used in comparison, but still. I'd much rather see that get released at retail.
Any way, I haven't gotten Mighty Kuuga and the aftermarket price is a little ugly at the moment. May just get this instead. |

Still want a Dragon, though. |
Amazing Mighty. Now.
|
.... Huh. Weird how the Renewal version of a Tamashii Exclusive is a retail release while the Renewal version of a retail Final Form is a Tamashii Exclusive. I'd have honestly preferred if they had stuck to the way the original versions were released, with Ultimate being retail and R. Mighty being Exclusive. But if R. Mighty is a retail release now, I demand that the N-Daguva-Zeba Renewal will be one, too.
|
Man, it has been a long time since I have seen Kuuga because I do not remember this form at all.
|
So this is this month's retail Kamen Rider? I'm... actually pretty disappointed. I'd hoped (as always) for Kiva's base form, or any of the Hibiki secondary Riders. Or - heck - any new Gaim release.
I haven't watched Kuuga, and given how little this form differs from the base Kuuga, it's an easy pass for me. Sounds like some of you are looking forward to it, though, so... not a waste. |
A lot of Kuuga figures being revealed. I hope they get to Dragon, Pegasus, and Titan. Maybe afterwards, they can get to Agito's forms.

Anyway, this is a pass from me. Hope we aren't waiting too long for a properly new SS release rather than just remoulds. |
Ah crap they are remaking forms too?! Glad I don't have this one.
|
No reason this could not have been implemented in the original release in the form of swapping parts.
...oh well. Sign of the times I guess |
So how come this one is a retail release, but not his Ultimate Form? I would imagine Kuuga's Ultimate Form would be more popular?
|
WTF?! Why? And why is this a retail release?
Pass. |
Yeah this is a pretty easy pass for me too. For the price of these Shinkochu Seihou figures, can't really justify buying a figure that's essentially one that I already have, just with an added on shin piece.
Definitely agree that Ultimate should have been the retail release here. |

Yeeeeeeeeeeeees. So getting this one. Rising Mighty is my all time favorite Kuuga Form. This is gonna be great.
|
I agree this should have just been parts swapping add-on to Mighty. Hoping for an Amazing Mighty repaint.
|
Also going to agree that it's pretty lame which is the retail release and which is the exclusive here. Definitely bummed by that.
Probably passing on both releases now (not that simply getting a shin guard ever interested me enough for this form to want anyway). |

For God's sake people. Rising Mighty is VERY different from regular Mighty. Swap out parts would have literally never happened. Have you even watched the damn show?? Just look at the original figuarts release of each.
Get so sick and tired of the moaning over what is or isn't an exclusive anymore. I'm sure had it been the other way around a nearly equal number of people would have moaned over the fact that a very easy retool was the exclusive. Can't please anyone anymore. |
Hey, that's not Go-Gadoru-Ba. Nor is it Amazing.
|
Sorry we don't all have a super secret middleman to make getting exclusives easy like you do.
We do, however, all have every right to express our opinions on preferences for releases. |

If you have the money to spare and don’t care that’s nice for you and all, but some of us don’t. I can afford regular releases, but Web-Exclusives I need to manage. It also doesn’t help that the middleman I know of want at least some sort of payment upfront and the Web Exclusives come out of nowhere most of the time. |
It's certainly different enough that the idea of Bandai doing swappable parts is a pretty ridiculous notion. You're either going to have so many additional pieces that it makes more sense to do a 2-pack or individual release, or snap on armour that completely ruins the seamless look of the figure.
|
EDIT: Wrong thread.
|
> Web Exclusives aren't easy to get a hold of
...So far all of, or at least most of, the Drive and Gaim exclusives have been popping up regularly on Mandarake... |
Quote:
And even if you find them, they're still usually around the price middleman want because the people running Mandarake and Jungle aren’t idiots. If the item is really common or not popular you might get it for cheap, but that’s not a game I want to play. |

But here me out and let me break it down so I sound less like an ass. On the one hand you pay for a regular retail release like the first SS Mighty Kuuga which was 5400 yen retail before shipping & possibly import fees depending on country, I do know that's a factor. Now look at Ultimate Kuuga. You jump to paying 6480 yen, which is a less than $10 USD change in price. Yes you'd pay some fees, many middleman luckily charge flat fees for such a thing. Although I'm aware just as many don't. But SAL shipping is an option to save as well. I'm not denying exclusives cost more, but relatively speaking it really isn't that much more is it? It's enough to offset their production as limited run releases which seems fair in my eyes. Quote:

We have a list of Middleman services?

One day, I hope to reach the point where I can see $55 before shipping and middleman fees as inexpensive :lol

So the difference between a retail release which is cheaper and gets discounts as opposed to a Web-Exclusive which is more expensive and doesn’t get discounts but middleman fees in exchange is very noticeable. For me at least. It's easily 30 bucks more in the most cases since I also pay import fees, + shipping. And it’s especially heavy if the item isn’t cheap to begin with like the GMk Godzilla. And I'm not always up for that. With stuff like Overlord Baron I have to have it, but if a Kuuga variant comes along I dig I'm like... eh I got the original SS-release and it's good enough. But I do get a bit angry if figures I think are better off in retail (which is a biased opinion since I don’t know crap about the Japanese market) are Web-Exclusives and immediately a tough pill to swallow. And I cut hobby money short lately because I need to, that’s not helping either. Sure it’s annoying for you if you always read that, but that’s just how I react. |
At least we have web sites that can import things for you easier. Growing up, I remember you had to go to local collector's shops when they are still common and go there to buy Japanese items up front. It was pricey, but it was worth it. Now with the Internet, you can have items out as soon as they are out in Japan.

Retail releases are fine if you're lucky and your order avoids customs, but if not, exclusives are usually cheaper. |

Figuarts are all modular in nature by their own construction. Their is no reason outside of cost and their retail structure that it could not be implemented if they chose to do so. I wasn't speaking of "clip on" armor parts. I was speaking of complete limb replacements....which is essentially all this release is on the already exsisting mold. I wasn't bitching about it, I was simply prariciapting in the discussion. As far as middle man services...I think most people have an issue with additional cost making releases that much more "annoying" to get ahold of, Not nessarily "finding" one |

And even if Figuarts are "modular" by nature, that doesn't mean Bandai designs them to be constantly pulled apart and changed. This isn't a gimmick line. |

I can get lucky with everything if the package is small enough and the custom guys are lazy, but that's really the exception. Because SHF's are usually too expensive to get through, and they know me by now so they check everything. So it's not really a bonus if once every 10 orders someone is too lazy to check, that can happen with regular releases as much as Web-Exclusives. So the bonus is really that my regular releases usually have a bill glued on the box so if I need to pay customs my postman can charge me on my doorstep instead of me having to drive to the customs office which sucks especially with weather like this, slippery streets and all that good stuff. And Web-Exclusives being easier to deal with than regular releases... not really. From what you're saying (Server crashes) and from what I remember seeing from you in the "Recent purchases"-topic you buy from AmiAmi. I buy form HLJ and it's easy and comfortable. Yes, we all know the deal with HLJ, no need to beat that horse again, but I buy there regularly for nearly two years now and never had any problems which would make me reconsider doing business with them. And HLJ lets me cancel orders easily and I have the Private Warehouse to manage orders and combine them to a single order no matter when I ordered the individual items. So that's a huge plus for me. Getting pre-order in is also easy as they open it up enough, so if I miss the day one pre-orders (and I do that quite often because I refuse to stay up for this) I just put up a restock-alert and that's that taken care of. So there's really no difference in getting pre-orders in or buying from HLJ or a middleman when it comes to customs, the only differences are that middlemen are more expensive, I can’t combine orders and I usually have to pick up the Web-Exclusives from the customs office because there's no bill on them. All in all I very much prefer to buy retail releases instead of Web-Exclusives. But sometimes I have to do it, in cases like these though I rather miss out on the figures than paying a middleman. |
So I'm curious, which service is your go-to, Den-O? Although I'm pretty sure you've made it a point before of not wishing to divulge that information. Hence, "secret."
