Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Since there is no thread to be found for this movie and I have no where to put it (I was not sure to put it in the other Toku section or not since King Kong did help inspire to create Toku and it's apart of the Legendary Godzilla Movie universe).
Anyways, for the people that don't know that a new King Kong movie is set for next year. It's a reboot, so it's not another remake or a sequel to Jackson's King Kong. I look forward to his movie because it has a good cast so far and it maybe a decent film. |
It has Loki, Nick Fury, Fred Flintstone, Fant4stic Doom, Dr.Dre, Eazy-E, and Wreck-It-Ralph.
...SOLD. |

Fuck. Kong is huge!
|
Since Kong is so big now, we'll get a new King Kong vs. Godzilla for sure, right?

So this movie comes out this week and is anyone going to see it? I'm pretty hype for it since it's our first stand alone Kong movie since King Kong Escapes. The other Kong movies we got have been remakes and a sequel to a remake since then.

Saw it on Monday, did a video review for it, but here are some quick pointers I have:
+ Every scene with Kong rocks + Monsters are awesome + Beautifully shot, camera work is amazing, and the cinematography is gorgeous + John C Reily's character is amazing + Jackson rocks - All other characters suck - All action, no plot - First half hour is a mess and made a bit of the movie hard to sit through - Jakcman's score is forgettable Best Kong movie since Escapes though. |
Kong Skull Island was a great popcorn flick. I really enjoy the fresh and new take on Skull Island and Kong. This movie won't win any major awards outside of special effects, but I do suggest to check it out. This our first original Kong movie since the 60's (We had two remakes and one 80's sequel). I look forward to more in the Monstersverse.

Don't forget it's also the only good Kong movie since the 60s.

Wow, Kain. I'm not used to you liking things. :lol
Jokes aside, I enjoyed it a lot too. Really rough around the edges and oddly paced at a few points, but regardless it was a very entertaining spectacle of a movie. Make sure you stick around until the very end of the credits too. The final scene at the end there is pretty hype. :thumb: |
Holy hell. This movie. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected for the action flick that it was.
Loved the amount of screentime Kong got. And you absolutely must stay through the credits. Rodan! Mothra! Ghidorah! I can't wait. Used to liking characters Sam Jackson plays so growing to hate him so much during the course of the movie felt weird. I mean, I loved him, but I hated him. Especially because I could see where he was coming from. He did a good job. |
i'm half-hoping someone somewhere pitched the alternate title "Viet-Kong" for this.
Fun film, great creature action. Much better than 2014's "Godzilla." and interesting fact: reading this films' credits will actually SPOIL the post-credits scene for you. |
Saw it on Saturday, I really liked it. I'm glad they didn't retread the same story we seen 3 different times. Then again with the rematch with Godzilla on the horizan I can see why they didn't

Kong Skull Island Round 2 - Man, I felt like I was watching an entirely different movie compared to what I saw last week. Yeah, the characters are still lackluster outside of Packard and Marlow, and most are there to die, but this was a damn good monster flick. It's on par with Godzilla 2014 and the post-credit scene was awesome! Just like before, the camera work and cinematography are top notch. That scene with Kong fighting off the helicopters with the sunrise behind him is badass. I can now say that I give it a slid 8/10 stars. Looking forward to owning this one on BD.
