SDCC 2016 - Funimation licenses Godzilla Resurgence
 

Funimation on their twitter announces that they got the rights to the latest Godzilla film. Release plans later this year.

I do wonder if Funimation will dub it or a English HK dub will be produced for the home video market similar in the past? We haven't had a English Godzilla dub produced in the US since Godzilla 2000.

Well, with this announced, now all we need is to hope is that the film is good.

I'm guessing it will be like the Attack on Titan movies and have their own dub.

Agreed. It seems that the reviews in Japan are positive, but then, they will give anything a high score. Just look at the reviews for Final Fantasy XIII when it first came out. UGH.

The fact they're specifically calling it Shin Godzilla makes me think they're talking about the Japanese version with subtitles.

Yep, and I will be buying my tickets as soon as they go up.

I expected this, but having it confirmed for sure is really exciting news.

There's no way I'm missing this in theaters. Hopefully that means they're also doing the DVD/Blu-ray release. We've gotten some meh Godzilla releases, but Funi's anime releases are always pretty nice.
