RIP Graphite. Knew it was coming but it's kind of a shame. Also kind of a shame and a disappointment, he really ended up not doing a lot or mattering too much huh? Not even in his final episode. He was barely in it. Unfortunate.
Surprised they didn't acknowledge the Bugster Buckle, but then I guess he didn't have it in his Dark form. Still, a good episode. Emu's got glowy eyes and shit now, things are really getting interesting. Bit disappointed the others confronting him about his candidacy didn't prompt him to ask Kyutaro anything but I guess that's just Emu. Hiiro got his revenge but it doesn't look like it satisfied him. And Taiga. Was in this episode. Taiga...felt like he should maybe have gotten more of a leading role in taking down Graphite? Maybe. Anyway, next episode looks good. Looks like Dan's identity will be exposed, so people may start trusting Kiriya again. The bike-action alliance will be formed for the third (fourth?) time, and Zombie Gamer may debut? Looks very interesting. Won't be long before Paradox also comes into the fray. That should also be fun. |
I love Kiriya this episode. So cheerful, and seems to be the least salty when he lost.
|
Hmm..so Drago Knight Hunter Z Gashat can temporary split into four Rider Gashats. Hmmm....thats unexpected.... :D
The battle Graphite vs Four Riders looks awesome and Graphite killed by four Riders? Thats so fast.... I hope we has some of high class Bugsters in the future episodes.... Hmm....it seems Emu will trust Kiriya again after Emu know about Dan is Black Ex-Aid (Genm).... About Bugster Buckle, maybe Kuroto Dan will create for himself..... Zombie Gashat will be interesting...... |
Ex-Aid continues to impress. They are dealing with the obligation to roll out new toys at the first chunk of the season well, at the same time developing characters and advancing the story.
There aren't any characters I hate like in Ghost's Onarie, the Emu has been considerably more interesting than Wizard's Haruto. Overall this is very "gaim" like, with some drive. And the suit designs are growing on me |
I haven't gotten to watch it yet. Usually I get to by now or tomorrow because of Kissasian.com. But it's down now. So...I don't know what to do! *panics melodramatically*

If you really need to see it, I have the link to a Google One-Drive containing subs for kamen rider series. (Warning: They only have 100% complete subs for Post-Decade series)
https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%...B3A6F1DD3A3CA6 They usually add new Ex-Aid episodes around wednesday because they use Excite-Subs. |
So far the main villain in this series is only Dan and Pallad. I hope after Graphite's death, we has new General Bugsters. At least two General Bugsters before episode 20.
|
Graphite, you dumbass.
|
I hope new Bugster Generals after Graphite. One to be female!

Moral of the story, don't get cocky especially when you reach a momentum of invincibility. |
Does anyone know where I can watch this episode online without downloading it? I usually watch on KissAsian but it's down.

This was a pretty nice conclusion for what seems to be the Graphite Arc, with a few things I found interesting:
- The small conversation between Dan and Pallad about how they "only have to put up with them(the riders) until we find new candidates, anyway". I get the feeling this is supposed to be a throwaway line because none of the leaks or scans have hinted at new riders. But a part of me still feels like this could be a hint at toei introducing two more riders later on, resulting in four villains versus the four riders. - The preview for the next episode features the return of "Salty" the bugster from Mighty Action X. and Dan holding an all white/light-grey/silver Gashat with no sticker on it. Either they're already introducing the Zombie Gashat, or Genm Corp developed a McGuffin that lets Dan summon bugsters at will. |
The attempt at "teamwork" by the Riders when they fought Graphite was amazing, especially Ex-Aid nearly torching Lazer. With Graphite out of the picture now, I wonder what exactly is going to happen in the next (rather intriguing looking) episode. Frankly, I'm not sure Dan will be around for too much longer either, I'm wondering if Genm will be replaced by someone else. Regardless, I am really starting to enjoy all of our characters, with this episode and the last particularly fleshing out Emu, which is great. Since the next one looks like a Kiriya episode, I'm excited. :D

Lazer's head looks weird in Level 5 form, that's all to have to say.
|
Ex-Aid, how am I supposed to be a disgruntled Ghost fan and hate you when you keep knocking episodes out of the park like this?
Great episode. This is exactly what I've been wanting from Emu (although that little flash in his eyes has me worried they really are going the "literal split-personality" route, which runs the risk of MASSIVELY devaluing his character), and it was all wrapped in an exciting plot about the Riders failing to gel as a team. I've said this before but after Ghost that's a nice dynamic to see. I love how Kiriya's problem is less that he doesn't get along with anybody and more that they don't get along with him, too. Kiriya is the man. Anyways, bullet point time: - Kiriya is the man. I know I just said that, but I wasn't sure that got across how much I love him. - This is a cute touch I think deserves to have attention called to it. The usual "It's a big hit in theaters now!" during the opening actually says "It's a big big big hit" after Emu's Level 3 catchphrase. - So I guess Yggdrasil is just using the Armored Riders to get data? Wait... - Apparently Ren really misses his girlfriend. Wait... - Man, Shinji is really having trouble getting the other Riders to put aside their differences and work together to fight monsters. Wait... - Between Ghost, Specter, and Necrom, the catchphrases this season are really out of control. Do they really ALL have to say them in EVERY fight scene? Wait... Quote:

Another great episode! Graphite was a dupe and died like an idiot as he's been telegraphing since showing his handsome mug episodes ago.
I loved the riverbank fight between Brave, Snipe and Graphite - nice use of effects; Snipe's flying was well executed - not realistic, but very "video-gamey". There's definitely something artificial about the director. No way is he real, his demeanor is way too messed up - which might indicate both Hiro's coldness toward him and overall sense of isolation. Again, I'm thinking Pallad is the true big bad, he seems to be more in tune with whatever bigger picture is play than even Dan. Quote:

There's always those two empty character slots.
Not saying that's what they're for, or that it's even likely, but they have a way to do that. They aren't in a corner. I'm with you on the effects, I feel like the direction they've gone with them is "We can't make them look real, so let's make them look deliberately fake." Which I like, and have liked since the beginning. I bet you this'll be one of those Wind Waker situations where it still looks good years after the fact. |

This honestly seems like kind of an anticlimactic death for a character who was deeply tied into the backstory of no less than two of the main characters. I feel like they could've easily kept him around longer. Oh well, I guess. |

This is probably my only real disappointment with Ex-Aid so far. I honestly really like Graphite's actor. Wish they'd given the character a little more. :/ But eh, hopefully Graphite will still have some repercussions for the rest of the show even if he himself isn't around for it. |
Yeah, it would have been nice to see more of what Graphite's deal was before he was gone. It doesn't bother me personally too much, but I can see why others might dislike it more. I'm hoping that Graphite will continue to have some kind of continuing effect on the show, like maybe Hiro losing direction with Graphite now gone.
|
Well, technically Saionji came back after he received his flowers. The flowers don't necessarily mean that the character is gone for good; just that their currently scheduled appearances are over.
|
I will say though Graphite did go out on a better note than Saionji did, at least Graphite went down fighting.
|
Damn, I'm loving this show. I really like the dynamic that the four main Riders have with all of them basically being in this thing for themselves. It was so much fun seeing them all working together for the first time, even if they were stepping all over each others' toes. I'm sure we'll eventually hit a point where they really can operate as a team, but I like that the show is in no hurry to get there. As much as I like the action, the main thing I'm really turning in for at this point is the character interactions.

Another good episode, but not too good at all. The part that I really loved to see how Emu conflicted with himself and got better after it. I really liked the part that he isn't a "Genius Gamer", he is just a normal cocky boy. Not only that, love to see Asuna finally contributed a bit for the story and as Poppi, she isn't as annoying as before and more helpful. The action was top notch too despite being quite out of context in the first battle. And am I the only who laughed when seeing Lazer's antics in his battle? Man, I have to say Kiriya makes every battle much livelier with his over the top personality and it's really fun to see, especially when he was almost roasted by Ex-Aid. The final touch on Hiiro in this episode was very nice too, something that really good for a character who kinda a bit shoved off.
As everyone said, I don't agree Graphite dies so easily and so fast like this. His death is pretty anticlimatic, particularly due to Hiiro's words in the end and Taiga didn't even express anything after killing Graphite. Even if they want to kill Graphite, I really want to make it more memorable and Graphite is more contributing much more in these few episodes. Also, Emu's method for the others to use DKHZ Gashat was......quite weird. I mean the whole context felt like Emu was trolling the whole Riders and I, for once instance, agree with Kiriya in this case. Due to this also, the gimmick of DKHZ was quite confusing but I think they will establish it later.Still, Emu's split personality was a nice touch too and I didn't expect it would be so crucial in the story. |

I could change my tune here if they do something interesting with his absence, but it just seems a little crazy to me they killed off a recurring villain for what probably could've just been another MotW plot. The only thing that was accomplished here was Emu getting the Riders to work together, and he didn't even really do that. Graphite, Brave, and Snipe really should've been the focus of an episode where Graphite dies but instead all three of them were bit players this week. Quote:

Much like everyone else it seems, I really liked the fighting dynamic with everyone at Lvl 5. It felt like New Super Mario Bros with everyone pushing each other out of the way to fight Graphite. Also, even though it felt like Emu got depressed way too fast about not being able to unite the riders (seriously, what reaction were you expecting?), his plan to get them together again was pretty cool.
I'm just really enjoying this freaking show, even though I haven't been posting that much. Curse you, lurker instincts! |

Also, I forgot to mention it, but I loved the bit where the chief couldn't remember how to pronounce Poppy's last name. That same thing happens to me every damn time I try it, too. |
REALLY loved this week's Episode of Ex-Aid, the amount of clever writing by Toei this week has been WOW. First off, the Episode went pretty much how I figured, with none of the Riders even wanting to help each other. I've said this before, but I REALLY love the character dynamics this show has. Emu doesn't like any of the others due to how they treat operations without consideration of the patient, and mainly distrusts Kiriya. Hiiro dislikes Emu's naivety, hates Taiga for not helping save Saki, and distrusts Kiriya. Taiga is simply a loose cannon & doesn't care for anyone else. Kiriya is also the same, but was once willing to work together with the others until they gave up on him & he in return decided to go it solo & accept his nature. The fact that this Gashat requires 4-Player Co-op really puts Emu in a bad situation here, and it's a wonder how Emu was able to so cleverly make it to where all of them would work together to defeat Graphite.
I will say though, I am disappointed Graphite is done in the show, and I wish they kept him longer. After all, he's the key to two of our main characters' backstories. Now the big question is.....JUST WHAT WAS UP WITH EMU & HIS GLOWING EYES?!! The theories of him having a split personality is becoming more and more supported.....! |
Man, I read the episode thread on TV-Nihon and the staff despise this show. Even so far as calling them the 'Ninninger' of Kamen Riders. That's too harsh.
On the other hand, IMO this show is way enjoyable than Ghost and first half of Drive that's for sure. |

Anyway, to further bolster this split persona idea, there's rumors of a Den-O return later this year. Possible - they've got that DX belt to pimp! |
That TVN thread feels like an alternate universe to me or something.
