Its no secret that Toei has been doing a lot of new things for Super Sentai. Unique color combinations, bringing the color Orange back after being gone for so long, Sentai getting both a one off female green ranger and its first full time female green ranger within such a short time span. Toei's been doing a lot of firsts these past few years, do you think a full time male pink ranger is entirely out of the realm of possibility?

Also, ToQ 1 after a norikae change. I think this happened first in the handoff clip between Kyoryuger and ToQger.

Temp male pink rangers have happen in Gokaiger and ToQger but a permanent one is still yet to be. I would like to see it just like I'd like to see a permanent female red ranger. But it all depends on the choices of Toei and Bandai.

She was only in about 6 episodes, though. Hardly a permanent addition.

unless Toei really wants to try it...I don't think we will ever see a true male pink since the color pink is usually associated with femininity and usually girls want to be the pink ranger right? xD
A female red isn't out of the question though in my opinion since red is kinda unisex.

Honestly, I'm not entirely convinved Right WASN'T our first male pink ranger.
I mean, he first appears as a pink ranger in the handoff
and practically spent more time in pink than Kagura did :p:D

But, being serious, I don't see a true male pink to be very likely to ever happen. especially not for a main group. japan is a country very rooted in traditions and stuck in it's ways.

Didn't they even avoid a kyoryu yellow because they didn't want to make it a boy since they thought yellow was too feminine?

it's great we finally have a proper female green and blue and yellow have always been unisex in sentai. but I get the feeling we likely won't ever see a true female Red or true male Pink. a female black also seems unlikely to me.

I'd be all for it if they did decide to do it of course, (as long as they didn't make Mr.Pink be a massive offensive gay stereotype.) since really, colours are just colours. there are no boy colours or girl colours.

I'd be more inclined to agree with you, and still mostly do, if it wasn't for the existence of a female green. Black and Green have been male exclusive even longer then red's been but then suddenly, after 40 years of being male only, there are suddenly 2 female green rangers in the span of 3 years? Outside of shock value, and the obvious fact that they used up 2 of the 4 female colors in a single team, I just can figure out why they bothered to do this. While I don't think they're losing anything by having a female green, I'm not sure how much none red, no sixth rangers matter in the long run these days, I just don't see what they're gaining outside of the before mentioned shock value.

The most recent 3 series have featured male Yellow rangers, in addition, there have been more male yellows than female in the franchise.
They didn't make a Kyoryu Yellow due to color balance (Since the Kyoryuger's featured a prominent amount of yellow)

The fact their costumes had a lot of yellow does seem more likely though.

Yellow being seen as a girl's color in Sentai at the time was definitely the reasoning it wasn't used in Kyoryuger. (this leads to the whole girls aren't as strong as guys thing)

I've always thought the color changing gimmick with ToQger was a bit of an experiment. You get kids used to seeing rangers in colors that are typically used by the other gender little by little until you can go ahead and do a full on series like that. It's not surprise that the very next series gave us a male yellow and the one after gave us a female blue, which hadn't been seen since Magiranger.

We've had pink (or at least, pink-ish, since people inevitably go with "no! it's magenta") main Riders, so I don't really think having male heroes sporting these colors is something Toei is completely opposed to in principle--though of course Sentai and Rider are different things with slightly different demographics that may be receptive to these things in different ways. Still, I can't imagine that the same parent company that is willing to have the face of one of their bigger franchises be a pink anime eyed guy would be so wary of making one of the supporting heroes in another one of their franchises don the pink. So, hopefully eventually.

Kenshin, noted anime/manga legend, often rocks a pink kimono. It can be done! And of course Dan from Street Fighter.

Color in Sentai is, to a degree, reflective of general association of those colors. In early Sentai, Yellow was perceived as a very masculine color, while after Magiranger, people had a hard time bringing it back to male characters. Pink seems to be becoming a bit more neutral these days, so there is a chance of there being a male Pink Ranger at some point- I mean, we have a non-villain female wearing Green this year too.

Ex Aid primary color is pretty much pink I wouldn't be surprised if we get a pink male ranger in the future.

KR and sentai are directed at different audiences; I don't know how willing TOEI is to market a pink male ranger to little boys. I don't see anything wrong with having a male pink, but I also don't run a multi-million dollar company

Wouldn't preteen boys, who I assume is Kamen Rider's primary demographic, be even more against pink then a 3-5 year old boy? I'd imagine what's socially acceptable plays a bigger part in this sort of thing then what colors they actually like and preteen boys seem like they'd be especially nasty when it comes to making fun of somebody for liking pink.

Kamen Rider is not color-coded though. While we had pink Kamen Riders who were female, the colors vary much more for each character than in Super Sentai. Also, looking at the shade of Ex-Aid's suit, it's more purple-ish than pink, while Decade's color was determined by the camera motif (that's where the "It's not pink, it's magenta" meme came from). So technically, we can't really talk about "Pink" main riders either. Marika was pink. As in, hella pink. Pink Necrom was black and pink. And KR Poppy has some pink elements. But those three are the only female Riders who have pink as a main color in their design.
I think Kamen Rider being more varied in colors and associations in that sense gives them a bit more liberty when it comes to the whole pink issue.

I never thought about that color coded thing. I guess it has more to do with the history behind color rather then the color itself in this case. I don't think Ex-Aid is purple-ish pink. I think he's straight up pink. But really, this wouldn't be the first time I've been "off" when it came to colors so I won't say anything more.

You know, I go back and forth on this topic.

On the one hand, yay gender diversity for all colors!
On the other hand, why let a man appropriate the only female-exclusive color in all of Sentai?

And I go back and forth on that forever. :lol
