Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 40- "Destiny Rebooted!" Discussion
Nico has been infected with the Bugster Virus. The only way to cure her- and others infected- is to destroy the Cronus Gashat. But is Hyper Muteki strong enough to prevail???
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
That last fight was severely cathartic, I hadn't felt something like that since Chaser Mach vs. Gold Drive
|
Genm teleported out in the middle of the fight, making Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya losing their Drivers + Main Gashats. GG 10/10 Teammate, would co-op with again.
The final fight is epic. from the handslap in the roll call to the fist bump after the finisher. Blue Gemdeus appears next episode. |
Woa, because everything resets so Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya got their drivers back. That's NEAT
|
Does it mean they are not Bugster anymore ?
Kiriya and Dan are human now ? Nico state were she is not infected by gemdeus virus |
I love Para-DX Perfect Knockout Gamer Level can be splited into Para-DX Puzzle Gamer and Para-DX Fighter Gamer.
I think Para-DX can be win against Chronus if he uses Energy Items manipulation ability when Cronus attack Graphite and Para-DX. Ex-Aid Muteki Gamer team up with Para-DX Para-DX Perfect Knockout Gamer is very cool. Hmm....so Masamune can reset time but why he still injury after time reset? Next episode Gemdeus is appeared. Maybe Cronus will become Gemdeus? |
Emu and Parado finally playing a game together. This is Mighty Brothers lvl 99 xD
Also what did Masamune restart? What happened to Hyper Muteki?! |
Okay lol holy shit
emu has lots of pair in this series so i am not sure anymore who is the 2nd rider of this series literally almost every rider except snipe that having episode tag team to emu XD and all those episode are awesome.. emu is literally can go either way i mean he close to main heroine and he close to other rider except snipe... and i give being thumb up for writer that can make me still entertained even in end game... and yes this episode is really fujoshi bait XD |
Wow, okay, so this episode was all sorts of awesome.
- I like how they have Dan working alongside the heroes, but make it abundantly clear that he's still an evil prick. I mean, yeah, he kinda has a point. No real way to beat Cronus without Hyper Muteki, but he straight up vanished on Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya. He's like when you're playing an online shooter game, realizes that his team is getting their asses handed to them and just up and leaves. Oh Dan, never change. - Seeing Pallad work alongside Emu long-term is so bizarre to me but man is it awesome. They were perfectly in sync during that fight with Cronus, and I love the fact that they found a way to bring back the Perfect Puzzle and Knockout Fighter suits. - Now I think I understand what's going on with the movie. "True Ending" is literally the true ending. It's how things would play out if Masamune didn't interfere with the timeline. He'd likely be thrown back in prison, but now Fuuma has Hiiro, Taiga and Kiriya's drivers. And of course, there's still Gemdeus. Very clever. |

This definitely goes in the Ex-Aid Hall of Fame for Best Episodes of the Series. I can't get enough of just how good the writing in this Episode was for Parad & Emu. |
Man... Am I the only person who cries when Parad apologizes to Emu like a little kid to his mother and when Emu reconciles back with Parad. This is why Ex-Aid is so good, especially when they handle the drama. I agree with TheGloryXros' words about Emu. Emu is still a human and the ways he handles his emotions and how he reacts are so splendid. It doesn't really make Emu such a Gary Stu character. He knows that Parad can't change unless he is learning his lessons the hard way. I'm so touched with how Emu, no matter how angry he is to Parad, can still open for forgiveness. I never cry during Kiriya's death, Kuroto's death or any sad scenes on the series. But, I cry so much during such a heartwarming scene.
One thing to note, I'm surprised that Masamune doesn't realize about the Reset function. He just looked so stunned after using it. Though, it's such an overpowered ability so it's understand if they can't introduce it earlier. Other than that, this might be one of or the best episode in Ex-Aid. It has an amazing action, heart wrenching drama, heart warming scenes, and also the lesson for your life too. It's like a full pack of goodies in one episode. I found it funny that Ex-Aid teaches how to treasure your life much better than Ghost whose overall plot was about life. |
This was a great team up. The fist bump at the end was the best.
|
tbh I'm surprised I haven't seen any edits of the fist bump Emu and Parad do with Fist Bump from Sonic Forces
|
Just finished watching this episode...just wow is all I have to say...wow...such a beautiful episode...
|

Wait, you mean a character who died in Ex-Aid didn't actually DIE?! Say it ain't so! Utterly fantastic episode. It took all the little niggling issues from last week and ironed them out into something truly excellent: - So I guess I was wrong about Parad being the final villain (short of some real crazy stuff happening in a very short time), and while I'm okay with that to begin with, since the ending I was imagining was basically Drive Part 2 and thus redundant, this episode did a lot to make Parad's redemption work. Like a lot a lot. I'll cover what I can but I know I'm going to miss bits of what made this so good. - Short-term, Parad's actor kills it when asked to be a sobbing mess, and really comes off as someone who's suddenly trying to process a whole lot of ideas that used to be completely foreign to him. Comparisons to a child are quite apt. - One bit I also loved that Excite! Subs either didn't feel was important or didn't pick up on the significance of was that, calling back to Poppy talking about Parad wanting to have a heart, Emu specifically tells Parad he now has the heart to understand how important life is. Complete with a dramatic pause. It's why Parad immediately picks his head up off the ground when Emu says it. - Long-term, they've made it very clear since very early on that severe existential angst about being a game character is the root of his villainy, and of course Lovelica's death hit him quite hard, so none of any of this is out of nowhere. - And of course with the way their connection has been shown to work over and over, it should go without saying Parad has the potential to understand Emu's morals. - Hey speaking of Emu have I mentioned lately how cool Emu is? I mean I haven't because he hasn't done anything super cool in a while but holy wow when Emu is bringing his A game he's seriously like, top tier Rider protagonist, and every time I forget that, an episode like this comes along. - Also it happens just after the sceencap I took but I love how Kiriya gives this big goofy grin after finding out Emu totally played all of them. Like he's super proud of Emu for managing to surpass the master, as it were. - I'm still not sure about all this SYMBOLISM! though. Over on TV-N's forums I saw it said that Hiiro's wacky CGI tear was essentially the show trying to manufacture emotion where there was none, and while good ol' Takenoko's opinions on Ex-Aid are rarely something I agree with, that remark stuck with me specifically because I feel the show HAS plenty of emotion without all the theatrics. I don't need a metaphorical cutaway of Emu saving Parad from drowning to understand that Parad is touched by his kindness. It doesn't need to be raining for me to understand that sad things are sad. I don't even think it's a matter of talking down to the audience so much as the show getting a little too creative for its own good. That being said it's definitely not enough to drag the episode down. Anyways, this week rocked and next week looks hype. I'm also happy Ex-Aid saved me from having to go dig up a Ryuki screencap by not actually "resetting" the way I thought it would. Much like Parad's whole deal it avoids being derivative, and if Masamune has crazy Bugster powers, that might mean there are some revelations yet to come that might even give him a real motivation! Yay! |
Just watched it. Great episode. One thought I have, though, is that I think the reset is why the show will depart from True Ending. True ending happens if the reset does not. At least, that's my guess.
|
I reallllly need a gif of Parad and Emu doing the fistbump as Cronus is getting pummeled by their finisher.
Excellent episode right there! The way they explained Emu killing Parad last episode and the impact it had on Parad was just perfectly done. I really didn't think I would ever be much of a Parad fan, but seeing him break down sobbing and apologizing for his lack of regard for life it was just an incredible moment. Emu has repeatedly shown himself to be quite clever in situations like these (I can't imagine a single other Rider character coming up with a plan to teach their enemy a fear of mortality by pretending to kill them), it really makes him stand out as a main character. Onto other topics though, I agree that Reset is probably the explanation for the whole True Ending deal. I also have no idea how it WORKS exactly, and I have a sneaking suspicion we won't get TOO much of an infodump on it either. Looking forward to these last few episodes! |
I love Pallad. He's like a less genocidal N-Daguva-zEBA.
|
Well, this episode was everything I wanted and then some. I don't really feel there is a need to say more. This show is on my top tier of favorites.

Parad (up until now) agreed with this, but he also wanted to establish himself as enough of a threat so that Emu will fight him seriously, hence why he takes over Kamen Rider Chronicle. He probably took the primary Bugster goal much less seriously than Graphite does, though. Parad's just in it for the fun. Quote:
Poppy was also fair game since she was a Rider, and was inevitably going to fight other Bugsters. Of course, things changed drastically when Cronus came along and established firmly that it's no longer a game for the Bugsters anymore. |
This little comic should sum up this episode. :lol
