I trust them.
We'll see, but I'm remaining optimistic. |
Cool, does this mean “upscale the Minipla and call it Deluxe?”
|
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons they picked Go-Busters is because it'll help show how they're managing the show and such.
Like, I think it's impossible to make Go-Busters into something like Dino Charge, or even Samurai. It's going to be very different. |
I have a question about this. How does Bandai of Japan feel about Saban leaving Bandai of America?

I imagine they considered PR remaining with their American division to be far too much of a liability at this point. |
Yeah, Saban didn't just move away, this was probably in the works for quite a while. Business stuff isn't as simple as it looks on the surface.
|
I wonder if he means more then just toy wise? Does he think Power Rangers can be bigger if Hasbro owns it all?
|
I really wonder if BOJ really cares. BOA and PR may have been a bit of dead weight. Honestly if BOJ cared they really could have just taken over duties.
Still it's going to be interesting. The Dragon Dagger for instance. The legacy version was used in the US and in Japan. I can see BOA and BOJ sharing molds. Hasbro would make their own stuff. I have no idea if they'd actually deal with BOJ for anything. But words are just that. BOA told us a bunch of sweet nothings as well. Of course Hasbro's products have honestly defined by childhood and played a big role in the current generation. Also like we may be picking up on. Hasbro might want to be more invested in Power Rangers then Bandai. |

I just this is a brighter path for the franchise especially for the show.

I’ll believe him on one condition:
GIVE US LEGACY SHOGUN MEGAZORD ALREADY!!!! |

He's talking about the brand as a whole. They're likely just waiting for some existing deals to expire before announcing Hasbro has bought the franchise outright. May as well call Beast Morphers the first Hasbro-era series.

Seeing how bad Ninja Steel has been. Well the only way to go Must be up.

If the brand is even more successful under Hasbro I can see them pouring more money on production. That is provided that Saban allows it (I think Saban doesn't mind as long as he doesn't have to use his money) |
The only way to get me interested in Power Rangers after an 18 year lapse in fandom is if Saban veered as far away from its standard "this is a show for lowest common denominator toddlers" model as possible. I'm not even saying that I want the show to be aged up -- after all, sentai is still for kids and I love it. I'm suggesting that maybe they try not playing toward the dumbest of the young'uns -- maybe take an approach more reminiscent of the recent Transformers shows (obviously, another Hasbro property).
If Hasbro has any input in the tone of the actual show, and can swing it into something that appeals to child and adult fans alike (again, ala sentai), I'm throwing as many of my chips behind them as I can. But hell, I'll support them even if they only have influence over the toys and all I get is high-quality action figures of my favorite Sentai teams. |
They better not make any more Zord Builder stuff.
|
Pudding proof needed. We'll see.
|
So first 2 Megazords by Hasbro will be MMPR S1 Megazord and whatever the Beast Morphers Megazord will be called, right?
|
Best form of advertisement to start with: "The Toys that Made Us" on Netflix!
I don't think they have a PR episode planned, but they are considering new episodes, and they have used Dinozords for set design! Showing how PR and how they toys have changed over the years and leading into this Hasbro revelation might be a good idea for everyone! Just saying! |

Maybe they'll be cool and run a fan poll for what Megazord people want to see. Quote:
My question is how are Toei and BOJ reacting to this? I don't know how much of a stake Bandai Japan has in Sentai, or if they own any of it. I do know Toei didn't react well to it when Disney tried telling them what to do. And you need the Sentai footage for Power Rangers. I suppose Hasbro could try a clean break down the road if they wanted and either go animated or make their own FX footage, but it just doesn't seem right to do Power Rangers without Sentai as it's origin. Wonder if Hasbro's going to try again at a live action Power Rangers movie once they can? |
Again, there's likely a business deal going on with this that's beyond this surface level. If Bandai of Japan/Toei didn't like this set-up, then we wouldn't be getting it.

We just had a Hollywood PR movie. I doubt they will try to do a reboot so soon. It already took 20 years for PR to get another chance at Hollywood again.

If Hasbro does a PR movie it'll either be heavily inspired by MMPR to appeal to adult nostalgia* like the Bayformer movies with G1* or use the current year's team to appeal to kids. |

On the show front, If Hasbro has any control, they should do two shows. The Sentai adaption as always, and an animated series that expands the PR universe, ala Shattered Grid story.
The biggest part to sales of any toys is having a show to promote in conjunction. MMPR is an easy sell but beyond that it gets questionable. Reintroducing rangers and characters from other shows, in a shared expanded universe would help give us more figures and zords. Also, I think what they need to do toy wise is make a cheaper zord option as well as a legacy option. For example, if they made zords that are along the lines of the Transformers combiner wars figures as the main stream figures, but then give us a "Legacy" style version of each of the Megazords too. This is just a wild a thought. Although, figure wise, I think it would be badass to finally see the original Goranger team being sold here in America as Marvel Legends style figures. One can dream right? |

It's possible.
Hasbro Marvel figures have plenty of roids. But then other figures have more subtle builds. The first one honestly is comic accurate. So either they'd go show accurate or more subtle. Using an older sentai as a show? Even when they were using Zyuranger the quality was poor. Now with HD being standard, it's just not going to happen. If they have to make all original footage then why even depend on the sentai? If Hasbro got another movie made, yeah I figure it would be MMPR influenced. You have to start somewhere. I'd personally prefer they make a sequel and push for suits that are more accurate and zords that actually look like something. |
I also hope they redo the 2017 movie rangers. I know it has it's mixed reviews but I loved it and loved the suit designs... The Megazord, not so much.
Whilst the movie Legacy figures we're pretty good sculpt wise, I ended up repainting all of mine to separate the metallic armor parts from the textured spandex. At $20 per figure, it should have had more paint details. They didn't even bother to paint all the silver details, just some of them. Looking at some iron Man figures, I think Hasbro would be able to pull off those details much better. I didn't mind the muscle proportions on the regular legacy figures, since they kind of emulated what Marvel Legends, DCU comic figures look like, but then they were a bit bigger than those figures, so it kind of killed any hopes of having a blended universe of action figures. So yeah, if they redo them, I hope they redo them right and make them less muscular. |

Yeah. Toei have always said a very loud no to any animated Power Rangers show, and likely always will.
|
An animated series would only be feasible in the case that toei cut the US rights to sentai material and that they were a fully original design. Or at least in my opinion, cause toei would likely loose out on money if sentai footage was not purchased.
As for this Hasbro deal Im looking forward to PR 2021. Why? Simple as it stands now looks like Beast Morphers is slated for Nick meaning GoBusters will either be compressed into 22 episodes, or be spread across two years. Now basrd simply on the Japanese toys nothing jumps out at me, a potential Super would have the armored versions of the GoBusters as well as LT06. Gold and silver likely being released in the later half of the basic line. Also with the contract being set in a way that Hasbro can eventually purchase the franchise itself Im betting Saban is just waiting on the Nick Contract to end dump it on Hasbro and let them try to negotiate to... Wait don't hasbro have a programming block of their own, should be pretty easy for Hasbro then. I didn't realize Hasbro was behind marvel molds, so guess figure wise things should be pretty solid. Go Busters toy line felt rather sparse in Japan. 5 rangers, 2 morphers, a power up item 3 megazords and only 1 add on. Compared to other adapted series like Samurai, or Gokai, Kyuuranger etc which had plenty of mecha. So it seems like a great series to let Hasbro loose on. Plenty of room for creativity. |
Toei might be okay with an animated series as long as it was a webseries and not the main series/on TV.
