Bandai (Sunrise) Announces Live Action 'Gundam' Movie
 

First off, it's been so bloody hard keeping this quiet. I let slip a couple times I think... The film has been in development with Legendary since last summer.

The film will kick off the global relaunch of Gundam, as Bandai's replacement for Power Rangers on its balance sheet.

Teaser should be online shortly.

We'll see if anything comes of it.

Still waiting for the live- action Tiger & Bunny movie they excitedly announced yet nothing ever came of.

That was only announced in May (less than 2 months ago) so you'll have to wait longer. I think the producers have been busy releasing a Star Wars movie or something...

Gundam is a co-production with Legendary, released by Universal, and a teaser was shown today at Anime Expo, so might be a bit more along.

Nnnnoooo that was not announced in May, it was announced as far back as NYCC 2015 if I remember right. I was at the panel when they revealed plans for it.

Perhaps plans, but it was only announced as going forward at Cannes in May.

Well what you leaked wasn't officially revealed yet and didn't seem to be official so it makes sense imo. Now that the trailer went up maybe it'll get a new thread?

Full support of the entire Bandai Namco Group, so I'm guessing it'll be the works - series, toys and video games. Their restructuring allows for this much more easily too. Really exciting.

I think next up will be a Dragon Ball Z movie.

Probably the wrong thing to pick up on, but I'm a girl - I don't know what part of the UK you live in, but I've never heard a girl called 'mate' where I'm from.

I look forward to this movie. I hope they get a good crew to make the movie that understands Gundam. Gundam is not just giant robots fighting each other. There is way more to it than just an brainless action series. I would like to see Hollywood try to adapt Mazinger Z and Getter Robo next.

They hire Akiva Goldsman to write the movie. He wrote movies like the Lost in Space movie from the 90's, the Joel Schumacher Batman movies, I Robot, etc. That's already a bad sign right there (His only good movie is A Beautiful Mind and even that movie had problems in my opinion).
