I was expecting an all out longer mecha fights, but eras is just too stiff of a stick. It doesn't event jave a tail to whip. The ten individual knights shot and triple mecha fight was cool, but seems more of a wasted potential and miss opportunity to be extra flashy. The land battle was more sentimental than what i expected as an all out human vs kaijin fight. The elder, master black, and ui made cameo appearances. Precious survives and might be a joke for future vs and return special along with the other two to form a comedy trio. Looks like the ui's actress is really sick with the weight gain shes hiding. The series have a lot of high expectation, and underwhelming execution . We didnt see much mobile mecha battle at all. We didnt even get to explore the knights and the lore of their sacred village. Everything is just jumble up one episode a time and fillers. The final twist was interesting with master black and eras, but it's just lame shock value without amounting to much more. The masters were really sidelined. What's next master green is alive and evil, secret space druidon, or eras twins?

The hand off was pretty weak and tame compare to the wilder and more unique one like last year and before. Kiramager 0pre 01 villains looks more threatening, but the gang and allies feel more like toqger imagination squad.

That rocked. Just a really wonderful finale with appropriately big fight, big sweeping moments, then a heartwarming epilogue. I have to imagine the final scene with all the photos takes place before all the preceding scenes since we had things like Towa leaving (and also I feel like Koh climbing that mountain should have been the final scene it was fine as is).
When I look back on this show, these last stretch of episodes are definitely going to be the brightest and fondest parts in my mind. |
Really interesting approach for the finale. It wasn't big and bombastic like Sentai finales tend to be. It was more nuanced and contemplative. Big props to the production team for giving us something quite original. Having the final battle exclude red was ballsy and refreshing to see and some of the visuals on display were breathtaking. Once again proving that Kamihoriuchi is growing to be one of toku's most visionary directors.
The epilogue stuff was cute. Honestly, this wasn't very impactful as an ending but it was at least satisfying. And again, respect the originality. Ryusoulger wasn't perfect but stuff like this really made it stand out in my opinion, despite being yet another Dino Sentai. Had a fun year! |
It wasn’t the worst finale I've ever seen, yet far from the best. Which pretty much sums up the entire show for me: It was brutally decent. At rare times very good, at equally rare times very bad, usually though it was just “okay”.
Not offensively terrible, yet never really good enough to stand out. Probably the most "meh" Toku show I have ever seen. And with that I'm glad it's over really, I had to force myself to finish this. I think I'll pass on Sentai for a while, the next show looks pretty bad from what I’ve seen and I don’t care enough to find out if that's the case or not. |
This episode and the last one were astonishingly good. My overall opinion of a series in the long-term tends to end up being heavily colored by how much I liked the finale, and for a while now, I've had a feeling that despite all the crap I've given it over the past year, Ryusoulger would pull things together for a very strong conclusion.
And it did. Because, honestly, this was always a series that clearly had a ton of potential. Not like, nebulous "wow, what a great concept!" potential either. I'm talking about the obvious sparks of creativity and even brilliance that were always flaring up throughout what could be a pretty uneven series. For its issues, Ryusoulger had a lot of moments that showed it could've been one of the better Sentai out there, if it could only keep at that level all the time. Genuinely hilarious gags. Some surprisingly heavy-hitting drama. Great action. Insanely good direction. Endearing heroes and villains. When it was working at full capacity, Ryusoulger really delivered, and I think that's what these last episodes proved. The nature of the central conflict made a valiant effort to tie together the story into something more cohesive. We got a final showdown that broke away from a lot of the norms to do something daring and rather artistic. It felt hugely original even compared to similarly outside-the-box finales like LuPat's. The "where are they now" epilogue is a bit more straightforward, but that's hardly a bad thing in its own right. Plus, the direction from Kamihoriuchi is... I mean, holy s***, are you guys seeing this stuff? https://i.imgur.com/moZlBfM.jpg Do you know happy I am the very last thing in this entire show was that photo frame trick? Very happy. So at the end of the day, Ryusoulger and I are parting on pretty good terms, I think. It's been a year with a lots of ups, a lot of downs, and a lot of randomly hearing "GIRATTO HIKARU SO~DO!" in my head at any given time of day, and I don't regret a single second of it. For all the exceedingly shoddy long-term planning, inability to find a central theme (this one is a major sticking point for me personally), or failure to do particularly thorough world-building that kept it back, there was always something balancing it out, and even when there wasn't, an episode was sure to come along that would remind me all over again not to write the series off just yet. Is Ryusoulger one of my favorite Super Sentai series ever? Definitely not, but after a while, I started getting the hang of its unique rhythm, and I feel enough of an attachment to it now to be a little sad it's over. Flawed or not, it was a show that had a charm all its own. |
I really quite liked the ending arc of Ryusoulger. And I'm going to echo what some have said that excluding Koh in the final battle was a nice touch. It gave the rest of the team (especially Towa, where the heck did that come from) some nicely deserved spotlight. I really hated the finale of Kyoryuger where it was all about Daigo so seeing this kind of final battle was awesome.
Again with the Towa stuff, I know that Master Black mentioned Towa to have a special light but never elaborated on it so seeing Towa do what he did kinda came from out of nowhere. Overall I enjoyed Ryusoulger. Won't be one of my favorites but I liked it none the less. I usually judge a Sentai series on how I liked the Red since the story usually revolves around him and I'm ok with Koh. He wasn't annoying and his character feels genuine enough to be likable. He wasn't my favorite, Bamba was, but I enjoyed watching Koh. Bamba and Towa were my favorites. I liked their dynamic together. Bamba was the cool character while I enjoyed the focus episodes of Towa the best. Canalo and his running gag of trying to find a wife was funny to watch and as a sixth he did enough for me to enjoy his character. My weak link though were Melto and Asuna. The fact that they're 2/3 of the main trio was unfortunate. Melto just did nothing for me. He was the smart guy but that was it. And Asuna being the only girl didn't help her to stand out either. This last couple of episodes they tried to show her more as integral to the team but it was bit too late for me. Now the best memory of Ryusoulger I'm taking with me is Kreon and Wyzul. I have not enjoyed sentai villains since Enter and Escape from Go-Busters. And its the first since Rio and Mele were my favorite characters from the show were the villains. I will miss those two the most. Here's to hoping the villains in Kirameiger will be entertaining too. |

Also, apparently Kreon is not a Druidon? You'd think they would pursue that idea a bit earlier... especially considering the abuse he's gotten from the others. |

Wyzul and Kreon really are the best of the best, though. Actually, Wyzul was this close to being my pick for best toku villain of 2019, if not for Tregear. Anyone who's seen Ultraman Taiga will understand that nobody could stack up to that kind of competition, so the fact Wyzul got as close as he did should tell you something. |

I didn't like the finale that much, but was glad it was over. As much as I liked the Canalo looking for a wife episodes, there were too many similar minasaur of the week boring episodes. LuPat was one of my favorite Sentai since gokaiger so it was going to always be tough to beat, but I didn't expect this many snoozer episodes. If Kreon never came to earth, they would have never had to find the dinoknights which then lead to eras getting stronger because the dinoknights in the calibur would have been stronger or at least that seems logical to the explanation of how weak it became and how it took them to go back into the sword to make it stronger for that last effort that almost worked for the killshot. It was still better than kyuranger which had some characters that I liked but way too many that I really disliked. |
I thought it was pretty good as a finale although flawed, probably best for the emotional stuff if anything.
Well, my final thoughts are that Ryusoulger is not going to be that high on a ''favourites of the decade'' list, it was quite average, but I did at least prefer it to Kyoryuger, I mean although I don't really hate any sentai I always found that an overly manufactured show that felt like it was trying too hard to be a certain way. My favourite 3 of the 2010s were Gokaiger,Toqger and Kyuranger, coiincidentally one for three parts of the decade! |
Great finale. I don't know that Ryusoulger will ever be among my favorite Sentai, but this is definitely one of my favorite Sentai finales. I've tended to stereotype them as disappointing, so I'm delighted we've gotten a couple of strong ends in a row.
The mecha stuff was too brief, but still managed to call back a little to the show's early mecha sequences. Pretty much everything until the denouement worked well for me. The denouement was... vague. Certainly the weakest element of the episode and an indicator about what didn't really work in the series: our core characters. Most of them just weren't that well-defined, so their send-offs didn't resonate. The little hint at Nada toward the end was nice; it would have been more typical of Sentai for him to have been forgotten. It was a little odd the Kishiryuu weren't returned by the end of the episode. Their whole bit is that they gave up their freedom to bind Heras, so given that Heras was destroyed, it's a little puzzling they didn't pop right back up. I don't *hate* that element because it lends to the sacrifice theme of these final episodes. I wonder if I'd have liked the Ui bit more if I hadn't known about the show's background goings-on. The handoff was... uninspired. Surprising. I'll also say this for the episode: while many Sentai finales put a seemingly permanent end on the series only to have that walked back for the inevitable post-series movies, this one clearly left narrative threads open for the almost-certain vs. Kiramager movie. LOVED that the episode didn't fixate entirely on the red hero. More of this from Sentai, please. |
Hasbro will adapt this series next year in 2021. I'm curious to see if they'll keep the fantasy theme.

I really liked the last episode. The final fight was well done and i found it interesting that Koh was not fighting together with the others. For a short moment i even had my doubts if he would be brought back.
I would have liked to have a longer Mecha Battle but it was pretty good regardless. The epilogue part felt a bit rushed and confusing. Why did Asuna of all people make a school? It was kind of out of nowhere. Also i would have loved for Canalo to get married in the epilogue. Well maybe in a future movie we will see him with his kids or something. I think Ryusoulger had some great episodes before the end and overall i really enjoyed the series. I liked the characters and really loved the toys. Sadly the pacing of the story was not consistent but it was way better then Lupat. I don't really know where i would put Ryusoulger in my Sentai ranking but i think it is my favourite Dinosaur Sentai (haven't completely watched Zyuranger yet though). |
So after binging the final arc. I can say the show ended well and most importantly, it made me not hate the series as a whole. It is a very good finale arc. The biggest highlight has got to be the fact that the Red Ranger sits out the final fight, maybe they finally realized that Super Sentai isn't 'Red Ranger and his Cheerleaders'?
Either way, I am glad. Sure you could argue that Koh is responsible for Eras' defeat. But the the most important part is that, Koh doesn't hog the spotlight all to himself. This is one of the few strenghs of Ryusoulger: Despite them still trying to focus on Red Ranger as much as possible, there is a strong emphasis on the Ryusoulgers as a team, which is what Sentai should always be. Does this mean that Ryusoulger is a great series? Well I wouldn't really say so. The series' biggest sin is that it's painfully safe, which makes sense because them rehashing dinosaurs again shows that they are playing it safe. But that's not the whole problem. Despite getting a fresh new writer, hoping to replicate the success that Kamen Rider did, RyuSoul's weakest aspect is the writing. When it's good, it's amazing. But most of the time, it's mediocre. But the good thing is, it's not painfully bad, even if there are glaring problems such as the how the Masters seem pointless except Master Black, and how Nada was killed quickly before he even got a chance to truly shine as the 7th Ryusoulger. Or hell, even Ryusoul Brown being a 1 time exclusive. Despite the flaws, I can safely say I enjoyed Ryusoulger. It may not be the best, but after years of bitching about Sentai's quality, it's refreshing to have one where I didn't hate. Here's hoping the Power Rangers adaptation is able to do the suits and designs even more justice, but if Beast Morphers is the status quo, I wouldn't hold my breath. Or rather, Power Rangers TV show will be dead to me. |
