No they aren't, I checked. They are similar, which isn't surprising as the work on the earlier episodes was actually decent, but this upload has different subs.

Which hopefully removes the broken grammar and stuff like "Kahndegifur" that plagued later episodes.

Oh wait, is Tsuburaya going to be showing Gridman to everyone with glorified bootleg subs? Because I can't begin to adequately describe how upsetting that thought is to me.

I didn't want to say this because I thought I might be wrong or it was a coincidence, but... remember back when Fiveking was in Z, and they uploaded its debut episode from Ginga S a couple days later? Well, as someone who had very recently marathoned the New Gen series and had found the Ginga and Ginga S subs to be more than a little subpar... it worried me when I watched that upload and realised it was pretty low quality. And that the particular type of low quality displayed was something I could have sworn I'd seen before just a few weeks ago.

Ginga is exactly why this upsets me. That show had this beautiful, loving (if occasionally loose) fan translation from Over-Time courtesy of the same translator who brought us Over-Time's Go-Busters subs and Aesir's work on Gaim (in all its Ornac-y glory), and then the "official" release of that show came along and replaced it with total garbage. I can only hope the Blu-ray release improved on things in some way from what I saw on Crunchyroll. I am still genuinely bitter about going from a translation that looks like this:

I don't want to knock Tsuburaya too hard, because the active way they're making their content readily available worldwide is, as always, commendable, but, even if they still desperately need to cross some borders, part of me is very, very glad the official Rider subs we're getting have been quality over quantity so far.

The subs on the YT Channel have our big bad as "Evil Lord Kahn Digifer".

This was fun. I actually tried this series on TOKU, but never finished and I let my TOKU access go lax.

It's obvious that the uploads on YouTube are meant to advertise the Blu-ray box available to Japanese audiences.

From what I have seen in the past, I believe Mill Creek will release a Western version in the near future. It's possible a MovieSpree release will precede the physical release.

I didn't know Mill Creek could release Gridman Blu-Rays. Rad. But yeah, I hope the streaming and (potential) Blu-Rays have better translations than the version TOKU has.

There may be more changes; I don’t feel the need to look for them as that one line is proof enough it's not the same.

I just checked episode 4 which got uploaded yesterday, and they are definitely the same lousy subs that were used on Toku HD. Safe to say at this rate that we can expect these same exact subs whenever Mill Creek puts out a physical release then.
