Pitch your Crossover Ideas
 

Hey, so inspired by the new Saber and Ghost crossover, I want to hear about the crossovers y'all would like to see?

What toku characters would you want to meet each other? What sort of adventures would they go on? What would they say to each other? Any feelings they might share or discuss?

Basically go wild, and tell me what characters or casts you've always wanted to see interact.

I think Zero-One is the world that is most rich for crossover potential -- of all the wildly different Rider seasons we've had, it and Build are the only ones to have a world that has some kind of radical difference on a social level. The fact that basically-sentient robots are just A Thing in Zero-One's society, one that everyone readily accepts as normal? From a crossover standpoint that's fascinating stuff! How would it effect say W's detective stories, or how would the many different foundations and corporations like Kougami and Smart Brain react to this change, how would Hibiki's traditions interact with it -- there's so much just on that premise alone before I even consider how perfect a teamup Faiz with Vulcan and Naki would be, or Chaser with any of MBJR.

It's astronomical to hope for now, but a crossover between Tsuburaya and Toei could lead to interesting mashups if you focus on names alone: Ultraman Dyna VS. Dynaman, Gingaman VS. Ultraman Ginga, Kamen Rider X VS. Ultraman X!

There are also some interesting crossovers within a franchise: Gingaman VS. Gingaman (think Fiveman), the never-happened-when-it-should-have Sun Vulcan VS. Denziman, Change Pegasus VS. Dragonranger (same actor), Ninjaman VS. Extra Heroes (cause of his absence in the 199), Patranger VS. Dekaranger.

Or you can mix-and-match between franchises: Aoranger VS. Big One VS. V3 VS. Zubat (same actor), Zenkaiger VS. Kikaider '70s VS. Kamen Rider Kikai, Timeranger VS. Zi-O, Signalman VS. Kamen Rider Vega, Kamen Rider Fourze VS. Kyuranger!

I'll think of more when I have more time.

Some crossovers I'd like to see are OOO with Zyuohger, and the W and Ex-aid Riders working with the Go-Busters.

Think about it, they got mechs, something in a similar fashion to the Showa era in tone. I'm tired, I can't think of anything better at this moment. *Slowly losing sanity*

Den-O VS Zenkaiger. And Kaito gets the Plat Form gear. :lolol

I'd be especially interested to see the villains of Drive and Zero-One interact, since the Roidmudes and MBJR are very similar in some ways but also have some pretty big differences. I can imagine Heart and Horobi having some very... intense discussions about the future of androids.

I know it's unlikely but I have always wanted to see a crossover between actually Sentai and Power Rangers! It would have to be a good incarnation of both and maybe would admittedly have a better chance of being made through editing rather than actually fly people over and try and make it work with the language barrier but it's just a fun thought.

As for Sentai or same franchise teamups I'd like to see, an end of decade ''champion of champions'' type one could be cool, like preferably 10 members, one from each show, or maybe even a big anniversary teamup could have actually one member from all 45+ shows so we can see like a 3 minute transformation scene with slightly updated sequences for like Goranger and JAKQ...lol, maybe that one may have issues with cost and practicality!

The only crossover that does that does spring in my mind even though it will never happen for obvious reasons I thought would be pretty good is Megaranger with Gridman.

I've always wondered about this one and I genuinely think that it is feasible.

Gorenger and JAKQ are the obvious choices as any attempt at adapting them and changing their names would be seen as an unforgivable affront!

Dimension-hopping from the Sentai Multiverse into the P.R. Multiverse, thereby establishing a great, big All Rangers Omniverse! My head-canon says that Master Head and Gosei are the progenitors as to the how and the why, as Master Head was temporarily absent after the debut of Gosei Ultimate and to explain why the Megaforce Power Cards retain their Goseiger names! Master Head and Gosei interacted, creating a link between Sentai and P.R. for Gorenger and JAKQ to hop on over!

You wouldn't have to fly the surviving Gorenger and JAKQ actors (though I would ask and see what they say and if they do want to make a cameo but don't want to fly, then you could do it remotely on screens and monitors since much of the world has had to come to terms with remote working), but any new Voice Actors would have to be similar in tone to the original Sentai Actors as opposed to just taking P.R.-friendly liberties. As to the language barrier, I'd say have the Gorenger speak Japanese, but have a plot device in which their voices appear to be speaking English. Battle Fever J Ep. 1 had something similar in which someone was speaking English, but a machine was translating his speech into Japanese for the team to understand, if memory serves. This means you would need a new VA who sounds like the OG Akaranger and can naturally speak both Japanese and English.

To do this, one might have to really pitch the idea to Toei and fly an official representative to view the creative choices and filming so as to maintain a respectful vision. I also wonder if such a decision could require the approval of the Ishinomori Estate as well.

Villains are the least complicated element as most of the Gorenger Kamen are simplistic and feel easy enough to reproduce. Remember, they remade Baseball Mask for Gokaiger and that suit is still getting play in Zenkaiger! You can't (and shouldn't) remake every Black Cross Kamen, but a couple of choice characters wouldn't be an egregious request. I kind of think that instead of adapting Crime Villains, you have the Black Cross Kamen masquerade as JAKQ using their stolen powers, thereby having Gorenger and JAKQ fight each other in new footage. Once Big One helps Gorenger, the jig is up and the Fake JAKQ reveal themselves as Black Cross Kamen!

Use stock footage when you can. Examples include Variblune firing a big colorful missile in the 199 or Gokai Change Big One using the Big One Finish in Gokaiger 3!

Digitally edit preexisting movie footage when you can. I have visions of taking the widescreen Ohranger Movie, editing Steam Punk (in train mode) out, editing Locomotive Mask in, and having the Zeo Megazord finish him by cutting the bridge (which was seen in the Zeo episode "Invasion of the Ranger Snatchers")!

Any such crossover should be a "movie special" in the vein of "Clash of the Red Rangers" and should be seen as an event worth waiting for.

Any such crossover would naturally lead to marketing of figures. Wouldn't you like to get a Lighting Collection two-pack of Akaranger and Baseball Mask!?

I know I'm rambling, but it's something I've wanted to share for awhile.
