DX Robo Universe
A new Mecha line featuring ToQOh, GokaiOh and EngineOh!
https://twitter.com/bandai_sentai/st...60762926162092 |
Neat idea, underwhelming execution. It's quaint that they still have the combination gimmick, but the individual mechs look so bad (Especially Gokaiger's).
That said, I'm not totally against it. The combined forms look pretty nice, and I am curious to see some other robos. This line seems like prime real estate for arm swapping series like Gaoranger or Abaranger. |
Is it just me, or does the ToQ1 guest appearance that's planned for the third act of Boonboomger seem like it could be related to this?

wow japanese zord builder toys
|
Well these look pretty awful. I assumed this was more like the Kyoryuger-stuff from last year, updated DX with more articulation.
These look worse than the OGs and have just as little articulation? If not less? I mean the mix-and-match playability is neat for sure, but I really don’t like the sacrifices they made because of it. A bit sad how close they came to greatness with the King Ohger toys and then just went back into mediocrity right away… |

Tokyo Toy Show '24 Exhibit, with emphasis on Kamen Rider and Ultraman and Godzilla, but I'm putting it here cause it does showcase these new Sentai Robo figures and their interconnectivity. You can even get multiple versions of the same one and create some pretty ludicrous combinations!

I hope they make a Dragonzord, Tigerzord and Falconzord for these so I can make a Tommyzord CF

Also a big selling point is the price. These are going for about $35, compared to the $80-120 that mainline DX robos (Or stuff like the Full Action Kyoryujin) can go for.

I think it still feels relatively budget friendly. I definitely wouldn't mind a lower price, especially since the combination doesn't require unique parts and revolves around the skeleton, but I don't see the current price point a deal breaker.
I am curious if it's limited to main robos, or if we'll see some 6ths. |
This isn't what I was expecting (yeah yeah we were all expecting something like the treatment Kyoryujin got), but I think it's weird and cool.

These look silly, I might get a few.
Additional parts in this system probably means you can make some real messed up stuff. |
After careful deliberation, I'm pretty much committed to ToQ-Oh cause I never had the original DX version and I'm more than a little curious.
As for Engine-Oh, I'm on the fence. Everyone equates this line to Bandai's Zord-Builder System, but I'm looking at this as the 'spiritual successor' so to speak of RPM's Micro Megazord figures. I still have a few of them, and the way Engine-Oh's new figure breaks down isn't much different from the "High Octane Micro Megazord" figure. I honestly believe that someone at Bandai Japan looked at that old figure and took several dozen cues from it because the parallels are much too coincidental. I can't figure out the actual dimensions, though. If they're comparable to the original DX versions or the modern-day equivalent to DX Mecha, then they're more than acceptable if you don't have an original or acceptable alternative. Did find additional glamour shots. https://cocreco.kodansha.co.jp/telemaga/news/PtMF6 |

Red Puncher for the body, Dragonzord and Tigerzord heads as shoulders for each side, and Falconzord on the back. Quote:

Anyone remember the Joint Gattai toyline?

The lack of knees in both lines is probably the biggest let down. |
While most of us have given our initial reaction, is there a particular mecha you want to see being released? Personally I want Turbo Robo, Victory Robo, and Gekitojah.
|
I kinda wanna see how they'd tackle OhRanger Robo and Shurikenjin.

Especially the topic of how will Shinobimaru be done. |
i hope these ones sell realy well so they make more of other mechas
i hope that its not gonna be focused on 2006 to today mainly n they will trow in there the classic of the 90s the zeo megazord is one thats overdue for a remake n hastn been covered by smp line yet |
I think these are poorly designed. They suffer the same issues that zord. Builder did. The gimmick makes the zord designs worse. The components of each zord are an afterthought.
The Yen being as dogwater as it is right now, I may pick these up. Otherwise they really gotta wow me. |
Looks like Bandai has cut corners.

A stylized take on the Megazord there. Looks neat, but I think I'll pass.

The Wildforce zord looks good in the promo photo, will have to see a video review. I don't understand why the Dino Megazord looks so stylized.

When the range was revealed, and was described as being like remakes of the older toys with higher quality builds, I was intrigued to get around to my era, the original.
Was genuinely interested to find out how the original Megazord would be, but having seen those first examples and the way they went together, I was expecting compromises. I believe those early designs, at least the ones we had from the first seasons to be adapted, would not lend themselves well to the way this combination gimmick would work, just like with ZordBuilder. If what is shown here is how the end result is going to look, then that is absolutely the case! Not only is the execution as much of a compromise as I expected, but they went for a stylized design, which does simply feel wrong considering the nature of the product line! This does just look awful to me. Absolutely not! |
These are definitely Bandai Japan's answer to zordbuilder. The difference being it's complementary to the DX toy line, not a replacement for it. That said, the individual zords for Daizyujin look awful.
