Personally if they can do it right, I'll be all aboard for these. This could be a perfect way to play Windows games without paying the huge, hefty prices of gaming PCs. Time will tell if this will turn out right, but Valve is a pretty capable gaming innovator.

I would seriously consider getting that.

It's a grand idea, but it's less powerful than what I'm sitting at right now so, no sale from me.

Hmm, if it turns out to be true it'll be something I keep my eye on. Whether I'd actually buy one is another thing though.

I'd buy this thing day one if it came out. I love the heck out of Valve and Steam.

Really I see no purpose in this. If you want to play PC games then buy a gaming PC. Yes they can be expensive but, when you consider that a PC can do a lot more than a console and can be upgrade its the more solid investment in the long run.

There day 1 if they make it affordable.

Sure it's just a branded PC basically. But make this a console that plugs in via HDMI, give it a controller and it is just as easy/accessible as the Xbox/PS3/Wii. I welcome more consoles to market, and will support them all if done right.

There are many reasons why a PC branded as a console at the same price point as a PS3 or Xbox would be attractive.

I would say though, for me, and probably for many laptop users, I don't think the larger price point of gaming PCs is really all that worth it anymore. Yes, there's the extra horsepower, but a smaller laptop does everything else you could want sans gaming. With Intel's improved integrated chips, even playing HD movies isn't as much of a hassle anymore.

There's also the portability issue, gaming PCs are almost never portable without being very expensive at the same time.

As such, I think a Valve console is great in that it takes the gaming component of the PCs and separates it into a dedicated package that, if affordable, would be very appealing.

Valve debunked it. Not happening at this point, but it's always a possibility.

This is what you here from from PC gaming elitists. This steam box, if real, would be more affordable to people than buying a high end gaming pc. I fail to see why all the pc gaming elitists are so against this. Some of the venom I have seen around the net is just disgusting.
