Kamen Rider Wizard - Rider Rings: Any tips/help on how to paint/color?
 

Hey there guys! I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to go about doing a custom paint/color job on those silver metallic Kamen Rider Wizard Rider Rings. I have a big Rider Ring collection going on right now and seeing them all plain like this just doesn't sit right with me. If there's anyone that doesn't know what kind of rings I'm talking about, I'm talking about these little fellas:

I don't have any experience nor knowledge on the different type of paints or markers that are good for plastic models like this and the accessories that are required to produce a pro-level looking finish.

BUT! I am a very artistic and open-minded person. I am pretty adept at drawing and sketching, not to mention I have steady hands and I'm pretty quick on the uptake when it comes to learning new art techniques. I also don't have a budget. So any tips, instructions, information, help, guide, pictures, etc for a beginner that's interested in the custom hobby paint field is very much welcome. Explanation on what products to buy or what kind of paint/marker is good for this kind of stuff is what I'm really looking for.

What I do with mine is that I take acrylic paints (mostly opaque mixed with metallics just to get the right shade), toothpicks and a lot of patience. First, disassemble the ring. The Face and Eyes are sometimes separate pieces, so set the eyes aside. After doing all the indented details, I do the outer colors (like on PuToTyra, I painted all the black first, then the purple.) After painting those details, I take the back part and ring clip and spraypaint them silver. Then I use a clear coat, or satin finish and apply it to the face plate. Then reassemble :). Beautiful. Just...beautiful. I saw a colored OOO's ring somewhere on this forum and that's what gave me the big jump and desire (hehe) to start trying to get my own rings painted.

That OOO ring may have either been one from the claim thread, mine or PkmnMstr's TaToBa Ring (which he happened to get and paint before I got my own :lol). Glad to be of help. Currently hunting down rings of my own, Accel should come in sometime this week and so should 8 other rings :D
