And then people went back to Doom 3 and found it refreshing because it didn't have you spending a half the game crouching behind chest high walls, the claustrophobic environments actually kind of worked well with the inability to have perfect vision and your gun drawn at all times. It broke through the monotony modern shooters had become.

Then Doom 4 came out and people realized that they didn't like Doom 3 again and it was a leech bringing down the franchise like a TI-83 port of Doom 1.
