No.1 Sentai Gozyuger Episode 47- "GO FIGHT Rikuo! When the Hundred Nights End"
Rikuo and Ryugi face off as the Inner Ring Tournament continues.
|
Not surprised that Ryugi won. Dude already lost the Ring Battle once, gotta give him the W.
And we're finally introduced to Gozyuger's final boss, as the the thing that Mashiro senses is none other than Doula Rex Sed Rex, the leader of Cladis himself!!! Don't let his silly appearance fool you, as next episode's preview reveals a glimpse of this thing's true appearance!!! |
Funny how the voice of Urataros was last year's final boss, this time, the voice of Ryutaros gets to be the final boss ever for Super Sentai. And is it just me, or does Rex not resemble Lah Deus from Flashman a bit?

Well, another participant is eliminated from the ring competition, and that's Rikuo. I like the use of parallels between characters in this plot. For example, it turns out that Rikuo joined the ring competition because of his insecurity, while Ryugie is his complete opposite, never doubting his chosen path.
Also, here Bouquet encourages Rikuo and brings him back to his former self, just as he did for her earlier. And also, while individually Ryugiе and Bouquet couldn't help blue idol, by teaming up, they managed to make him popular. It's this kind of character development and interactions that I love the Gozyuger. As for Fire Candle, he continues to lose friends in his ongoing struggle. We also learn the name of Calamity's leader: Rex. Moreover, he makes his first appearance in the episode's finale. And, apparently, the team behind it liked the Waruido Spindo effect, because after all the buildup to the threat of the Calamity, the last thing you expect is a colorful character with a cartoonish, high-pitched voice. Although, judging by the announcement, Rex decided not to go all-out, but to use Kumade. Kinjiro and Rikuo simply need to realize that they don't need a miracle to achieve their dreams. Just a little courage and honesty. But with Kumade, the situation is more complicated, because he wants to be a god, and a very specific one at that. And he's also laying claim to Tega Sword's place. So I'm very interested to see what decision he ultimately makes. P.S. I hope Toei uploads the full version of the clip with Tega Sword to YouTube. It's too good to limit it to a couple of frames for the characters' comments. P.P.S. Kuon made me happy with his comment about his hands being sticky with honey. |
Y'know, I think this Gozyuger Ring Battle has a lot of potential, as I'd seen either outcome being satisfying for the plot. Would be cool to see an alternative version of events as a TTFC special or something. But first, there's the recently announced Polar Beginning! Curious to see if Kumade's boasts were accurate, or if the OG Gozyu Wolf got carried.

I also liked how Ryugi's talent as a lyricist proved useful, having written so many verses for Hymn of Tega Sword. Under Bouquet's supervision as someone who understands what Rikuo is all about, their song turned out great! Quote:
