I think Goku having god powers makes his base form stronger now and feels like he won't need to go SSj against Freeza. Akira Toriyama mention Goku realized that mastering his normal state and Super Saiyan would raise his level more and sap less strength.

BTW, has Funimation ever given any reason as to why they have not released the special with Vegeta's brother yet? It blows that they did not put it on BoG as a bonus feature considering there is a mention to it in the movie. I haven't even seen it yet.

Last time I check, the 2008 special and Episode of Bardock hasn't been dubbed yet since the right to them involve Shueisha, not Toei from what I've been told.

No, Episode of Bardock is a manga spin off that was adapted into a anime OVA where Bardock is sent back in the past on Planet Vegeta over 1000 years ago where he fights Freeza's ancestor Chilled and becomes a SSj for the first time. It was never dubbed as of 2014, but you can find it subbed on Youtube.

Story and artwork was done by Naho Ooishi. Akira Toriyama didn't had anything to do with it other then design Chilled. Episode of Bardock is consider to be a What If scenario. You can say that it's not canon to the anime and manga.

I view Episode of Bardock in it's own alternate timeline due to the time travel nature that happens in DBZ.

To be quite honest, that sounds dumb as all hell.

As for language, don't care if it is subbed only. I personally prefer Dragon Ball subbed, but I love the dub voices when the dubbing is accurate to the scripts ala Kai and Battle of Gods. When it is not even remotely close, like in the regular series, it blows.
