We must have had the opposite happen, because I cannot stand Go-Onger. I will give it props for having a strong ranger cast though, but I could not stand the execution of the series.

My first exposure to Go-onger was the Shinkenger vs Go-onger crossover, and it impressed me enough to want to watch the series. That crossover remains among the best in my book.

Yeah, I can see how the series can grate on people. My strategy is to just to forgo any expectations of the plot, and just enjoy the characters and their interactions. The plot is pretty much next to none. :D

I was thinking about watching Go-Onger. The Gekiranger/Go-Onger crossover was harmless enough (Despite the crossover confirming Rio and Mele as unable to return to the world of the living, but Gokaiger changed all that anyway) and I freaking love G12 Formation :lol

Yeah, G12 is one Cluster-f*** Robo I actually love.

From what I've heard about the show and what I saw in Gokaiger, I know that I'm likely never going to give Go-Onger a try. Everything about it looks custom-tailored to make me hate it. :lol

Well, it looks to be a comedy, like the Den-O of Sentai. So I'll try to have fun with it while I watch it and then hate on it when I finish (The exact same thing I did with Gokaiger :p)

You might have the same character development issues with the characters as you did with Gokaiger. Only two characters seriously change among the heroes, as far as I can see.

The thing about character development is that you can't judge how much occurred until after the series ends.
While viewing Gokaiger, I had a blast. It was tons of fun. In retrospect, though, is where it pissed me off.

Go-Onger was fun, and I'm glad I watched it, but I doubt I'd ever re-watch it.

The thing is though, outside of a few characters, no Sentai has provided completely in depth character development for every series, even the best of the best. DaiRanger is the best, but Kazu and Shouji hardly grew throughout the series. Hell, only NinjaWhite and NinjaRed had any real development, while NinjaBlack was the only one of the remaining three to even get his own story arc for two episodes. AbareBlue and Yellow did not change too much after they became rangers. In fact, Killer and Black were the only ones that really changed throughout the entire show.

Just Kazu and Shoji? The only characters I felt were any different at the end of Dairanger were Kou, Daigo and Kaku.

They definitely had the most, but Rin grew with Kou and Ryo grew because of Jin.

Character development all seems to depends on the individual though. Like, I pesonally thought Wataru grew excessively throught Kiva, and that is one of the reasons Kiva is in my top 5 favorite Rider series, but others felt he did not grow at all.

I don't hold that to be true. Character development can be subtle or it can be blatant. It's all dependent on how the character thinks, acts, and behaves at the start vs. the end of the series. Wataru in Kiva obviously underwent character development, going from sulking in the tub to actually facing his problems head on.
However, then there's the case like Gokaiger. I understand that with multiple main characters, development will be spread thin. There's cases like Marvelous and Don, who did undergo development, with Marvelous realizing that the treasure he was searching for wasn't worth removing the prior 34 Sentai from existing after watching former rangers helping with evac and Don growing a spine to save his friends, and cases like Joe and Luka, who had opportunity to develop, but for one reason or another, never did.

Well, I needed something to watch on slow days like this, and Gekiranger is now happily downloading.

Over-Time is currently up to episode 7 of Mirai Sentai Timeranger, while GUIS started fansubbing Choudenshi Bioman and Hikari Sentai Maskman.

Did they ever finish the DVD rips of Liveman and Jetman? And I guess, did they batch torrent them? Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, but I only remember gtting up to 12 of Liveman and that was as far as the batches went.

Yes, GUIS completed both Liveman and Jetman, and they're now available in batches. Just wait a bit longer if you want DVD rips.

I'm fairly sure the finished Jetman batch is all DVDrips. Liveman however is still only up to 12 for DVDrips. The original rips are completely watchable though.

I am 6 episodes into jetman. This may end up being my favorite season at the rate it is going. Grey is so awesome! A smoking , drinking robot bounty hunter is the coolest sentai villain I have seen. I also like that yellow , blue and white are useless. Yellow owl is helpful when asking myself what I would look like as a power ranger, I can get behind that.

Starting up MagiRanger for my sentai fix as GoBuster has completely lost any of my interest. Maybe when it's finished I'll give it another go.

Now that I'm done with Daimajin Kanon (everybody go watch it!) I'm picking up Jetman again. It is really weird to go from watching some awesome mech scenes in Gobusters to seeing Jetman's mechs that are clearly made out of cardboard with fake detailing just painted on.

Honestly, I don't remember that episode.

Apartment monster was episode 6 (First Jet Icarus episode) and mirror monster was episode 8 (which was awesome for having the arranged marriage trope with a MALE ranger instead of "the girl").

Atleast you can see that year by year the quality of the mech battles are improved on in terms of detail. Most people wouldnt take the time to acknowledge that and jump right to "it's 2012 and they are still using guys in costumes?" . Atleast that has happened to me anyways

Yeha, Jetman was really the last Sentai to feature the super-boxy mechs. Starting with Zyuranger the mech suits got a whole lot better.

Either way, Jetman has some of the worst Monster of the Week designs.

No arguing with you on that one. They are charmingly bad though

But also the Cup Noodle monster, which is the best monster design in the history of all Sentai, if not all tokusatsu.

Considering the state of CGI in both Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, I really hope they keep the costumes and props. They always look much better than the CGI.

It also looks like Haro Rangers is back into doing CarRanger, as they have releaesd like 4 episodes recently.

So I'm on episode 3 of Gekiranger. So far, I'm alright with the Rangers, but Rio and Mele are stealing the show for me. There's just something about them appearing like humans instead of some monster is pretty cool. The nunchuck and tonfa fighting is pretty cool as opposed to the conventional sword and blaster. Gekitouja is kinda boring, though. His introduction was ridiculously underplayed thanks to that dumb fly.

That knuckle-cracking noise, though. It makes me shudder every time.

And the fight scenes are awesome as well, I'm glad you're liking it!

And yeah. GekiTouja is pretty much gonna be the negative point of pretty much every episode. Bae's (The fly) commentary is pretty much the only reason to watch the Touja fights instead of just skipping them (Since the battles themselves are just so formulaic it hurts).

Watching Jetman and Sun Vulcan. Both are pretty enjoyable.

Wah! Haro Rangers is actually getting some stuff done? This blows my mind. Been really looking forward to more Carranger.
