GARO Makai No Hana Episode 3: Interesting episode going into if Mayuri is alive or not, it felt a bit filler-ish but stiil Raiga's lines about protecting people, saying she's human and alive was great, also Raiga's fight scenes untransformed are absolutely fucking brilliant. I can't wait to learn more about Mayuri and Raiga.

GARO Makai No Hana Episode 4: This was amazing with using the Horror Movies and taking Raiga into them, I loved him killing the zombies, fighting Ghost Face, and more. I knew he was sent into Scream, I am not a big horror movie fan so I don't know what else he was put into. I like that Raiga was drawing too that was cool. I love they use real suits for both GARO and the horrors because as much as I love GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono, the CGI Monsters and Armors weren't the best thing. Still really enjoying Raiga and excited for more. |
is the flash a toku series?

GARO Makai No Hana Episode 5: God, I didn't care for him in ZERO Black Blood and now the guy comes back to play another Horror here? Ick it's just how he acts is annoying to me. The horrors sure like to pick some sick people here. Crow is pretty cool so far, I completely love his armored form with the wings and that he uses a Katana because we have seen that from what I can remember, I love curved blades. It feels weird because Raiga feels like Rei with some Kouga to him and Crow feels like Kouga with a little Rei to him. Well I hope the series picks up soon. |
I started watching Ultraman Tiga (the Japanese version). I remember watching the dub as a kid but I don't really remember it. So I'm finally getting around to watching it again, but in the original source.
It's...something. It seems really fast paced compared to stuff like Sentai and Rider, and it also seems to be a bit, simpler. The opening video is weird as fuck too. The song itself kicks ass but my lord is the video insane. And you can definitely tell the CGI is from the id 90s, noticeable as shit. But the practical effects are pretty good. The cinematography is great too. It looks like it's really there in the same way old British shows do. So far I'm kinda enjoying it. It's pretty fast and simple, but it is fairly fun, and there is a bit of the nostalgic pull for me. I guess I'll keep watching it for now, though it definitely isn't holding my full attention compared to the other tokusatsu shows I watch. |
Watched the Space Sheriff Shaider Next Generation movie and while I liked the Sharivan one a tiny bit more this was still alot of awesome put into a one hour runtime.
The action was just top notch, I loved pretty much all the characters and the story was alot of fun. Together with Sharivan Next Generation this was probably the best two hours of tokusatsu I have seen in years. |
UltraMan Nexus Episode 7: Well Komon keeps being the best character of the Night Raiders with saving the little girl that they said to not worry about. I liked his story he told to the girl about naming the dog, and how heroic he is with protecting her. Reminds me a lot of Eiji/KR OOO. Nexus vs Faust was definitely intriguing. Faust being the Shadow and taking him to the dark field was exciting. I can't wait how this continues with both Nexus and Komon in trouble.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 8: Great to see the Night Raiders successfully take down the giant monster by themselves. The plan worked which is great to see their weaponry is powerful enough to defeat one of the Space Beasts. I'm liking Komon more, saving the girl, and taking the blame for the Deputy Captain was great too. The Deputy Captain is interesting she must have been by these beasts bad or something because she definitely has that hurt feel to her. The scene with the Captain and Komon needed to happen to help him get past his thoughts and it's great to see more of the team interact together because they are definitely lacking time with the other Night Raiders. Nexus vs Faust was freaking amazing, the battle was awesome so many great moves and I love how Nexus turned the fight around when he was losing. The MP are interesting too I understand that it is wrong to change memories without permission but it does help the people they do it too. Overall very interesting story and I can't wait for more. |
Watched Kikaider REBOOT between last night and this morning (thanks to a minor crisis where the disc stopped working on my player and I thought it was faulty. Thankfully it worked when I changed the region on my old laptop) and was pretty impressed with it. Not many toku heroes can lend themselves to "gritty realistic remakes" but Kikaider is one of the few that can, and REBOOT runs with this and really makes it work.
The basics of the original Kikaider plot are in there, but its all been reworked in a very different way. DARK is very different from the typical toku evil organisation they were in the original. The first 20 minutes are pretty rushed (and don't make complete sense in some instances) but the action is really slick. There's a fair bit of over the top wirework jumping and dodgy special effects, but really that's part of the package isn't it? Sometimes toku movies feel more like extended episodes rather than actual films, but this one did feel like a higher budget adaptation and I could really appreciate that. Jingi Irie's Jiro is very different to the manga/anime/toku versions, coming across as more of a robot confused by his emotions than one conflicted by them. This bothered me in a few of the fight sequences, as it came across that the Conscience Circuit was automatically stopping him harm others rather than making him realise that he shouldn't do it. I was willing to chalk this simply up to a different interpretation, but the fact Jiro turns off his Conscience Circuit to defeat Hakaider goes against the whole point of Kikaider. He's able to turn his emotions off at any time, but he chooses not to because he'd instantly lose his memories and what makes him "human". Having Hakaider acknowledge that he's gone against his creator's intention makes it a little better, but really its something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. The film puts an interesting spin on Professor Gill, taking him from the leader of an evil organisation to a brilliant scientist that's always lived in Komyoji's shadow. It'd have been nice if he could have been developed a bit more, but I liked how in becoming Hakaider he felt he'd surpassed both humans and machines. I'm not usually a fan of Gill Hakaider, but he worked really nicely in this film. But my absolute favourite addition was Mari, who I was quite surprised to hear was going to be in this film. Disappointingly there's no Bijinder Reboot, but Maryjun Takahashi is superb in the role and definitely has the best fight sequence of the entire film. With a surprisingly dower ending and a VERY interesting end credits scene (Saburo Hakaider might still be a thing?!?!) I do hope they're able to revisit this universe in some capacity. I mean if the Space Sheriffs can get V-cinemas after the mixed reception to Gavan, surely this can get a second outing too. It's certainly not a film that'll spawn a whole new franchise, but it'd be an utter shame for it not to get another opportunity to finish its story. |
UltraMan Nexus Episode 9: The plot thickens with Komon, how he met his girlfriend Riko was a nice scene, and just seeing him hang out with Riko was great too. The animals were so cute especially the bunny; anyways as I said the plot thickens as Riko gets injured by falling glass or whatever was dropped on her that Komon saves her from and then she is magically where Komon crashed. More with Nexus vs Faust again, this guy is just a troll right now I hope Nexus crushes him soon. The fighting is excellent again they put on a great show Nexus and Faust.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 10: Seems like there is a conspiracy against Komon, someone is using Riko to get to him, might have something to do with who Faust is, and might make sense but I'm not sure. I enjoyed the Night Raiders more this episode being successful against the monster, and helping Nexus. I am happy the Captain and Riko inspired Komon to be more positive and how it lead to their success in the mission. I enjoyed Nexus helping before they crashed, and hopefully they will accept that he is trying to help them. The storyline is picking up and I am more intrigued in it. Can't wait for more. |
As a kid I loved this show called Guyferd, it was my first taste of tokasatsu besides godzilla :) now re watching it lol
|
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 6: Interesting learning a little about Raiga's past making the wind chime. I felt bad that he had to fight the guy who helped him make it though. I liked Gonza going through some of his mother's stuff, I would love to see stuff with Raiga and his family. The fight scenes were very awesome, I liked how they flipped from being in the armor and horror form to back to their human forms during it. Still enjoying it, and can't wait for more.
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 7: I love learning more about Raiga's past, and intrigued to learn more about Kouga too. That Kouga disappeared when Raiga was young is something I want to know more about and more about where is Kouga. I definitely feel for Raiga seeing the emotion in his tears when he gains hope when he learns his father is still alive. Raiga kicks so much ass this episode, I love his fighting style, and his fighting poses, the action was top notch this episode. The guy who plays Raiga is a great fighter. I love that he got Gouten this episode because that Horse is awesome and so is the giant sword he gets on it too. I'm guessing that was Taiga who helped out Raiga which is awesome. I love when they get more into the past and more into the world of GARO. The episode definitely picked up so far. I can't wait for more. |

Just realized this is a superhero team consisting of Gnome Phantom as the lead, Barizorg as the cool guy who has Kyoryucyan as his second-in-command, and Ank as the cheerful youngster. Loved this show when it was around. |

GARO Makai No Hana Episode 8: This episode was really filler I guess, the horror being composed of a family was neat, and Raiga was awesome like normal. The fight scene was pretty awesome too, but not much to say; however I did like that Raiga was against the horror killing the Depressed people saying that Pain and Sadness make know we are alive. I really liked that with Raiga, but overall as a character Raiga is great.
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 9: So this episode was the longest for having a woman naked lol. I liked that, this was a weird episode though. I will say I like how they help Mayuri learn different things each episode, and loved Crow and Raiga kicking ass especially with Crow's shuriken powering up Raiga's sword for the finisher was awesome. I hope to see more with the characters in the next block I watch soon. I thought it was funny that Mayuri fell over from the alcohol from the scene in the credits, that was hilarious. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 10: This was a sweet episode, focusing on Gonza which being the returning character along with Zaruba is nice. I like how he is trying to be a father to Mayuri and how he went to all the trouble he did with his friend Anna to get her to smile. Gonza is such a great character. I also love how this episode pretty much just forgo the fighting to focus more on Gonza's cooking and his struggle for Mayuri, and that she smiled and felt part of the family was great. I was happy that Gonza succeeded this was just an awesome, heartwarming episode of GARO. |
Akumaizer-3 Episode 3: The sheer emotion from Gabura is absolutely amazing. Honestly him trying to help the humans then getting upset for being taken for granted and ultimately going back to help his friends was great. Intriguing to learn that Ibiru/Evil can't move if he sees his reflection, if there was a chicken and a mirror him and Red Buster would have some serious problems lol. I just love these 3 so much. The action is really good and I love their rapiers. Great Old school toku right here.
|
Watching Cutie Honey the Live and I´m really enjoying it. Its funny as hell and it has great action scenes. And Mark Musashi is always awesome.
|
Akumaizer-3 Episode 2: Because I thought I watched this episode I went to 3 but realized I watched the first episode twice lol. The emotion from Zabitan this episode was brilliant. I feel so bad for him that he had to see his mother die in front of him that was heart-wrenching. Learning Zabitan is half human makes a lot of sense, and I was thinking he was too. I like how Zabitan wants to be friends with the people they saved and not just strangers. I also love how Zabitan's shoulder cannons can destroy tanks, hell he should use that more often. I love the action the 3 demons kick a lot of ass, this is really awesome.
|
Akumaizer-3 Episode 4: This was a brilliant episode for Ibiru, I felt bad for him with the enemies using their deceptive powers to make everyone think Ibiru betrayed them. I am happy they found out he didn't and it sucks that no one believed him, I mean why would you believe the villains over your friend? Still it was a great story for them. I love the use of the weaknesses of the Akumaizers against them. Also the action was top notch, the guy who plays Ibiru did a freaking front flip and that wasn't wire work or anything it was insane.

Looks like the koreans really enjoyed Kamen Rider Wizard...! |
Just watched Karate Robo Zaborgar. The first half of it was awesome. The second half was decent, but not nearly as great as the first half. I want to watch the series now.
I also watched Godzilla: Tokyo SOS earlier. Awesome battles, but the lack of any sort of plot other than "should we let Mothra defend us, or risk Mothra attacking and use MechaGodzilla?" made it a bit forgettable. |
UltraMan Nexus Episode 11: So Faust is manipulating Riko to somehow affect Komon. This is getting a lot darker and interesting than I thought. Also with this Mizorogi guy I think is the man who probably shot Riko and was there during her family's attack and is the reason he left the Night Raiders. Nexus vs Faust was awesome again, definitely see this escalating even more next time. I feel bad for Komon that he lost a lot in whatever happened to Riko and will probably get worse for him as this series goes for the next few episodes.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 12: Okay so Mizorogi is the main bad guy for the time being using Riko as a puppet to become Faust is such a dick move, and I feel so bad for Komon after that. I really enjoyed Himeya saving Komon from the darkness, I want to know why he wants to help Komon though, unless he knows that Komon has been manipulated mostly all this time. Mizorogi is definitely something else with summoning that Space Beast to attack Komon. I felt really sad during Riko as Faust's sacrifice and her apparent death. This was something else, man UltraMan's storytelling is powerful UltraMan Nexus Episode 13: I see how Mizorogi's manipulations have a grander scheme attached here, with knowing Komon was going to join the Night Raiders, I wonder what his endgame is though, I feel it is more than just showing Nagi she is worthy. Now Nagi finally got some good character development here wanting to find Komon and make sure he is alright I really that because she has been a bit cold-hearted and full of hate previously so it's good she cares more than just hating beasts. I like how Himeya is being Komon's guardian angel and it looks like we will get more of him next episode which is good because he still has mystery to him. Mizorogi is still a trolling jackass, but a good and intriguing villain. I am guessing he sent the monster after that family at the end and I hope that they don't die like Riko's family did. I continue feeling bad for Komon now being manipulated even more by Mizorogi into being tortured and tormented, I hope Komon ends up stronger from this. UltraMan Nexus Episode 14: Well this show has gotten darker and this just furthered it. The family being attacked that Komon took the picture of with a Riko in it is just further manipulation from Mizorogi which is really horrible of him, also I am starting to love him more as a villain, his planning is really good. Also his Mephisto form is pretty awesome, the fight with Nexus was insanely awesome. Komon I feel worse that giving in to hate is just taking him down the way Mizorogi wants. Also him destroying the monster and not knowing Riko was in there I could see his anguish afterwards. I also could see the rage in Himeya after they destroyed the monster with Riko in it, he was enraged from it. This show is getting really good, I can't wait for more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 15: This episode was what I was waiting for! Finally learning more about Himeya from his perspective, I feel so bad for him about losing Sera and that she died because he decided to go take the pictures rather than making sure she was out of the way. I can feel his regret emanating from him. I totally loved his scene with Komon and trying to help him realize that hate doesn't help anything. I feel bad that Komon is just a pawn in Mizorogi's game I hope he breaks free from that. Nexus vs Mephisto was amazing again I really love both suits and characters. I'm not the Night Raiders are really helping Komon with everything he's dealing with he's not the same as them and I hope the realize that, and I hope Komon eventually gets through to Nagi about hate as well. I am glad that the friend of Himeya is looking into the accidents to find out what Himeya is doing because I think something more is going on especially from that scene a couple episodes ago. UltraMan Nexus Episode 16: I am so glad they showed Himeya's tragic back story because I can feel and root for him more. I like how all the hard work he's put in with Komon in the past episodes actually came back and helped Komon this episode too. Komon has obviously been going through depression and before just giving into the darkness he finally found the resolve to put the hate and the sadness behind him and be able to soldier on from Riko's Death because the memories of her keep her alive. The more I think about Nexus, the more this is a phenomenal show with the issues they deal with. The Captain giving Komon the blaster to help defeat the Space Beast definitely helped Komon realize what he is was fighting for and what he had to too so very good scene. The fighting was excellent against Nexus definitely puts on an awesome show when he fights, I love the jump kicks. I was sort of into UltraMan when I was watching UltraSeven X, now I'm definitely into UltraMan the more I watch this show. This is my same Kamen Rider, GARO, Metal Hero, Super Sentai, Power Rangers level obsession with the series. Oh also I don't know why they switched the end theme a couple episodes ago but I love the new one so much more. |
Mobile Cop/Tactical Officer/Kido Keiji Jiban Episode 1: Well starting off topic Kamen Rider Black definitely felt more like a Metal Heroes show than a Kamen Rider, lol moving on to what I actually watched. Anyways Jiban is totally awesome, I definitely see how he was inspired by RoboCop. As much as I love RoboCop, Jiban is much cooler. This episode felt like it was in the middle of an ongoing established plot which is fine because I like stories that don't always start from the beginning. Biolon the evil organization seems intriguing with their monsters being made from animals and metal, Dr. Giva is quite a character as well. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this show but getting more kickass RoboCop makes me excited for it. Jiban having a finisher with his sword made me excited, Jiban having a sword made me excited lol. I love swords by the way. Learning that he is a cyborg is cool, I love Naoto he has a lot of personality and looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait to learn more about his family, how he became Jiban and what Biolon is up to. Really awesome first episode.

can The FLash count as an Other Toku?

But for the sake of this forum Toku only means shows from japan. |
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 11: Well I like that Raiga has both elements from his mother and his father because he sounds like he has an artist's soul which I really like from him because I feel like an artist too. This episode's effects were really special with turning people into Manga characters and using manga effects brought to life and having the last fight scene mirrored with manga scenes was really impressive. Crow looks like he has his own mission or something up right now. Yeah this season is very episodic right now it's not bad because Raiga, the fighting, and the effects are really impressive, the storytelling is mediocre right now but still I want to keep watching.
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 12: This episode reminded me a lot of Leo and Kaoru's episode where they go look for the Spirit Beast. It was nice, not much to say but I do like Raiga's kindness a lot with taking this girl with him. Well the next episode looks more exciting. This wasn't a bad episode just kind of slow but heartfelt by the end of it. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 13: This episode is night and day between the last episode. This has been my favorite episode of the season because you get to learn about Crow, and he develops as well which is what I've been wanting for a while now in the show. I love a flying knight, his wings are amazing, and how he saved Mayuri was awesome as well. I enjoyed learning about the Shadowfolk who Crow comes from and this Barg beast that they purify their weapons with. Overall very intriguing and great episode especially with Crow coming forth and saying that Mayuri is human and more than just a Madou Tool rather than Raiga who has known that for a while; that it comes from Crow just shows how much he's grown and that he saved her because of who she is, I just loved a lot. I love the presence Raiga gets when he showed the Garo-Ken to Gento who apologized instantly, that just a deep amount of respect that I like to see. Well I also enjoy the new opening theme a lot, and the opening video was awesome. The ending is good too and I was shocked and loved that at the end the episode had Crow instead of Raiga. Like always can't wait for more. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 14: Nice to learn about Mayuri this episode, I felt it did a good job keeping the focus on her being Human like the last episode did. I really like that both Crow and Raiga keep standing up for her being human and being connected to her. Raiga definitely has his father's heroic spirit willing to sacrifice part of his life span for her is something highly altruistic and respectable. Makai Priest Shidou was interesting being Mayuri's caretaker and being afraid to get attached to her because he didn't want her to lose her. These episodes still being episodic are okay as long as they focus on the characters and using them good and pushing them forward. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 15: A very nice recap episode. I liked seeing how Gonza felt about Raiga, Crow, and Mayuri, as well as everything Raiga said about Gonza. It was a very nice and heartfelt episode. Also it was good to know what happened to Kaoru and Kouga as well. I think they are doing something different with Gonza and Raiga helping Mayuri be human like Gonza and Kaoru did with Kouga. I also like how he said Crow was growing too. I really like the cast of this series they are awesome. |
So, I watched Rodan. I've never seen any other Toho monster movies, so I don't have anything to compare it to. But standing alone, it was good for what it was. I thought the miniature work was fantastic, even if the costume design wasn't great. The human characters weren't bad, but I was expecting more of an explanation for the giant larvae.
|
Akumaizer-3 Episode 5: The storytelling of Akumaizer-3 is fantastic and emotional. I loved the showcase of the power of friendship between Zabitan and Siren that it transcended the sides they were on and led to Siren trying to help Zabitan and the others even if it cost him his life. (I knew that was happening I mean this show isn't called Akumaizer-4 after this episode, lol). I got teary-eyed with his death like Zabitan. Learning more about Darunia who is keeps helping the Akumaizer's out in her own way but definitely she is intriguing and can't wait to see more. Gabura looking out for Zabitan was great, and Ibiru questioning Zabitan in the beginning I liked too I also liked Ibiru knowing Zabitan's heart and knowing he has to speak to Siren as well. The team is very strong and defined characters that help even more to make this an amazing watch, I forget this was from 1975 when I get into it.

UltraMan Nexus Episode 17: I think Mizorogi called Himeya one of the best titles ever and made me like him more. "Comic Book Hero" That was awesome because Himeya delivered a great line to him before hand and going to help the Night Raiders over fighting Mizorogi was great. The fighting was awesome Nexus kicked ass though he got roughed by this monster. I like that the monster is the first monster Himeya fought and with his hypnotizing ability I see why Mephisto came in to save it. Nagi just has more layers with her dark back story with Mizorogi and these zombie-like people they fought. I feel bad for her. Also glad Komon has his fighting spirit back and managed to get past the illusions to help UltraMan Nexus too. Mizorogi is interesting but I can't help but feel he might be another pawn or a knight of some grander enemy if the zombie-like people were around a year ago.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 18: Finally back story with Mizorogi. I am intrigued that he was driven by his fear and cowardice which lead him to his dark path and meeting Dark Mephisto. His death from his own arrogance was great too. I enjoyed him as a villain but his manipulations needed to end sooner rather than later. I enjoyed Wakura and Komon going after Nagi because she meant a lot to both of them and I like the pain you see from Wakura thinking about the past. It's great to learn more about these other characters besides just Himeya and Komon. The ending is crazy I can't wait to see what happens next. UltraMan Nexus Episode 19: Well I am worried about Himeya because of his wounds not healing though I respect and love his courage going to fight when he is wounded though. The Goregolem is very interesting I like seeing a more powerful Space Beast rather than just Faust or Mephisto being the pain in the ass. I feel bad for the Photographer who was inspired by Himeya but got eaten by the Goregolem, though I feel he will have great importance with his photos. I liked the Captain's scene with Himeya as well and liked Himeya not trusting their organization because I don't either. I am intrigued to see what happens next. Ultraman Nexus Episode 20: Yeah Himeya is looking like shit right now, I think this is leading up to his swan song sadly. I still love his bravery and going to battle against the Goregolem twice even though he isn't fully healed, he one epic character. Komon was great taking initiative for wanting to pilot the new Chrome Chester to help them defeat it. It sucks their machines couldn't damage it, the damn monster freaking forcefield, but damn this monster has taken 2 episodes so far and still not defeated. I like that Captain Wakuza is doing more than just following orders and starting to question who he is working for. I really hope Himeya's friend gets those pictures in the newspaper because I can't wait to see how TLT flips a lid when the Monster get exposed to the world. |
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 16: I completely agree with Mayuri about not understanding why people read stuff that is scary or other stuff like that. I liked seeing Raiga's frustration from the beginning of not stopping Eiris' seed. I enjoyed Raiga and Crow fighting together that was freaking amazing. I liked how Raiga and Crow talked at the end about if they envy the people having a normal life enjoying themselves and how they agree that they don't want them to experience true terror so they like protecting them. Not much happened in this episode but very good character moments and action which I really like in GARO.
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 17: Yay Flashback! Yay Rei! I loved this episode so much, but Rei makes everything better. It was a lot of fun seeing Raiga as a kid and being trained and brought on a Horror Hunt with Rei. Rei made a very good teacher and I totally understand why Raiga acts like Rei because he was trained by him so he picked up his habits along the way. I like how he picked up the pipe against the Horror as a precursor to him fighting with both his sword and sheath. Raiga vs Rei was a lot of fun too he is strong for a little kid. I am intrigued with the Makai Priestess because I was wondering who she was but I'm hoping we find out later or I'm forgetting if I saw her before. I loved the flashing between past and present with his birthdays that was a touching scene. I also liked seeing Mayuri look through the books in the credits seeing her learn more is cool. It looks like a Crow episode next which I'm hoping to learn more about him. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 18: I really enjoyed Bikuu she was very intriguing and kick ass. Learning that they have something called a Darkness Hunter in the Makai world that is kind of like Internal Affairs for them is really interesting; must be a very painful and difficult job to take out friends like that; I'm wondering if this is a newer position that they came up with after the whole thing with Leo's brother from Makai Senki to find and deal with Rogue Makai Knight/Priests. I wish Crow was used more in this episode because it felt like he wanted to prove himself in the fight but I'm happy with him saving Bikuu and getting thanked for it. I like the Shadowfolk people that him and Bikuu are apart of, I wouldn't mind seeing more of them. The fight scene was very well done with Raiga, Bikuu, and Crow vs. Possessed Izumo; lots of well done movements and actions, I really loved the choreography and every second of it, especially when Raiga transformed and got to see the armor a lot more was awesome. I feel really bad for Bikuu after learning that Izumo was her little brother she must be in a lot of pain and masking it; I also feel she is trying to find who released Eiris for the reason of learning why the person did and partially for revenge because Eiris being released did lead to her brother getting killed. I was hoping for more Crow but honestly this was definitely one of my favorite episodes of this season. I also enjoyed the Crow vs Bikuu test and Raiga vs Bikuu test just because of how different they were and to see that Raiga won and Crow just let his guard down. I feel that Crow was very frustrated this episode at points and felt that he should have fought harder against the Horror but maybe he was being smart and knew that he couldn't beat the Horror so just let Raiga handle it and not be a distraction or get himself hurt or worse in battle. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 19: This villain was a lot of fun, I really liked how he acted crazy and with the music. Though I think Raiga was more fun in this episode with how he was sitting during the performance and said that the Horror couldn’t handle his song. I loved how the white of their outfits was lit up during the fight and how Raiga’s song was played during it just made the battle that much more awesome. I enjoyed how Mayuri was enjoying the music and how it made her feel the light, I liked how she has been enjoying the culture more and more throughout the series. Only a few more of the Slab horrors left, I can’t wait to see how this series ends. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 20: This was the episode I was waiting for; learning about Crow and what the duty of the Phantom Knight was. Seems similar to what Rei did and what the Golden Knight does. Still getting a focus episode about Crow was great, I enjoyed how he was investigating what happened and learned about the missing girl. I also loved that he asked for Raiga's help during the fight because he seems like one to not ask for help but shows he's grown to ask for help. The Iron Man horror was pretty cool and I love how Crow took out the mimic of the girl with ease and how Raiga's saved the girl in the armor. What I love about GARO is how heroic the characters can be, the awesome storytelling, and fight scenes. Sad that I have 5 episodes left. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 21: Well damn a lot happened in this episode. I loved Gonza's scene with Crow explaining to him that he was part of the family I got very emotional there just because I'm happy that was said to him because he is Raiga's and Mayuri's friend and that he does have a family. This horror was really cool, I liked how skilled he was and the actor who played him definitely had a great evil part to him and how he instigated Raiga was his demise though. Man, this episode was pretty much the definition of don't piss of the sensitive, quiet ones because they are the most vicious when they are pissed off; Raiga kicked his ass 6 ways from Sunday and then some. That was a spectacular fight scene and the whole episodes fight scenes were, I loved Crow and Raiga vs this horror. I think they are definitely building up things with Mayuri and if she can actually hold Eiris' seed, will it kill her, and what happens to her afterward. I feel like Crow and Raiga won't take it lightly if anything happens to her. I am not sure if I am supposed to recognize the guy at the end who freed the Slab Horrors or not but Crow definitely knows who it is, and I can't wait to learn more. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 22: Now things start picking up, so I was right that Crow definitely knew who the Makai Knight was. His mentor Eiji is very intriguing and seeing that his lover was the woman who Raiga met as a kid was a surprise but I figured she was someone important to the story. I like that Raiga tried to get Mayuri her freedom and trusts Crow after everything. Crow confronting his mentor was good, it's also interesting to see that he went from the bottom to being the top pupil. Seeing Eiji's motivation makes a lot of sense and while not the newest idea I still really enjoy it. I can't wait to see how this goes. Crow and Raiga vs Eiji was awesome too. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 23: Well something I forgot to mention in the last episode but still fits for this one is Eiji fights insanely, I mean he'll just grab Crow and Raiga's swords by the blades and he'll use his own sword unconventionally, I absolutely enjoyed that a whole lot. I loved Crow's conviction, strength, courage, and sacrifice this episode with fighting against his master/hero, trying to free Mayuri and letting Eiris take his body instead of Mayuri's, I love that he is willing to risk everything to protect her. Raiga talking down Eiji and making him realize the error of his ways was great, showing that there is more to defeating someone then just beating him and not needing to have senseless bloodshed, also bringing back what Akari said to Raiga when he was a kid too. I'm happy Bikuu returned I really liked her and hope to see more. Learning more about Eiji and Mayuri was interesting as well and I think showed more for Mayuri's character too. The fight scenes have just been getting better and better with Raiga vs Eiji in knight form was badass and Eiris in Crow's body vs Raiga and Eiji was outstanding, I am blown away by how awesome this combat is. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 24: Crow vs Raiga was intense, and I just loved hearing about how Raiga's kindness helped change Crow and helped him get past Eiris' possession of him, and how Raiga has been living up a promise which is why he is so kind. Seeing that Eiris is the one who grabbed Raiga's mother is huge, Raiga wouldn't have become who he is if that didn't happen so this is definitely interesting. Eiris seems really powerful and they are definitely in trouble with her taking the Armor's time and making Raiga transform into the giant monstrous wolf form. I can't wait to see how the end this is really intense, and I can't wait for more. GARO Makai No Hana Episode 25 (Finale): Well this was one hell of a finale. I enjoyed that Eiji came back and him and Crow fought to try and free Raiga from the evil that the monstrous form he has taken did to him. I also love that Bikuu came back and helped Mayuri try and capture Eiris too. I wish Eiji and Bikuu were both in the story more but still were really good for the limited time they were in it. I love that the bell helped restore Raiga's hope and helped him break past the Heart Destruction limit of the Makai Knight armor and creating that new Luminous form to battle against Eiris was something else, I adore that armor so much I lost track of what I was thinking off when I say it. It is a thing of beauty. I was really happy that Mayuri didn't want to forget everyone and that everyone was saddened about what was going on with her; also really happy that she can stay with Raiga and after Raiga going into her Ego to help out I'm really glad she remembers him. A really good finale, a little more GARO focused than I would have liked but can't blame it when he is the main character. Though it would have been great to see Crow and Giru actually help save Raiga rather than Raiga saving himself, make the others seem more useful that's all I'm saying but really good finale. Overall thoughts: Yeah this was a very solid series, not my favorite but the characters were definitely something else, though Raiga was the only one who got anything truly good in this series. Crow got some really good development but never really defeated a monster or was used as much as he should have, I mean you have a real suit for his outfit he could have transformed more; I mean it sucks when some of his best fights was when he was possessed. Mayuri was great for evolving as a character but was pretty useless when they went Horror Hunting, I mean you think she could be trained to fight. Raiga liked I said got great character development from start to finish, great action, pretty much showed why he was the Golden Knight; I honestly love Raiga more than I love Kouga, and not saying anything bad about Kouga, I just love the artistic soul to Raiga that he has a lot of great qualities from both his father and mother. I miss Kouga and felt that he should maybe came back for this at some point along with Kaoru too. Eiji-Taishi was great though I feel that he should have been in the show earlier though and actually helping them then you see his heel turn somewhere in the middle. I enjoyed his motivation for what he did with releasing Eiris and I love how he grew afterwards and by the end of it he was helping to save Raiga. Bikuu continues the tradition of badass female Makai Priests and I loved her being the Dark Hunter and would have loved to see more of her. What I don't like about this show is that it definitely didn't use the supporting characters as well as it could have, and that it's episodic nature didn't really make any sense for this show. I will say that the Horror Movie and Manga episodes were two really out of this world episodes that were fantastic and the Flashback bringing back Rei was great too. Overall this is definitely a great watch but it has flaws to it. |

Crow went from a loner character working like a phantom to a guy with friends that he cared so much for that he was willing to sacrifice his own body to the villain rather than let his friend get taken. Obviously I wanted a lot more from him but he did get development.

UltraMan Nexus Episode 21: Man I left off on the wrong part lol, I think that I need to find a better stopping point next time. Anyways I loved Himeya's willpower that pushed him to get back up and stop the Goregolem from breaking out of the Metafield. That even when he was low on energy he kept fighting, I love that a lot about him. Negoro needs a new plan of attack, because TLT stopped him cold but I love his determination and his quickness to get away from the Memory Police. I am intrigued with what's going on with TLT experimenting on Himeya and what this will lead too. I enjoyed Illustrator's and Himeya's talk that was interesting, and also interesting to look back into Himeya's past. Also I am intrigued about Mizorogi being back, I wonder if he is immortal, a copy, or died and came back, definitely has mysteries rising and can't wait for more.

Cool armor though. |
UltraMan Nexus Episode 22: I am glad that Himeya lived through the experiments because if the Scientists killed him I would have been pissed because a hero like him doesn't deserve to die like that. I enjoyed Captain Wakura stood up to the higher ups rather than just Komon doing it for experimenting on Himeya. Negoro with the others was interesting to see how they get away with exposing data about the Space Beasts. That the Night Raiders got upgraded technology from the experiments is good that they got the power but bad they got it in the wrong way. I also worry about Himeya's life because it said to be continued as he grew one and it definitely sounds like this might be his last time as Nexus and that worries me because he's my favorite in this series.

UltraMan Nexus Episode 23: Well Mizorogi not being dead I like, I don't like his plans to pretty much take out Himeya though, Mizorogi is a nasty villain and doing very well so far. Liked the parallels and differences in this episode a lot; with Komon being saved when he was young by an alien and Nagi being attacked by an alien when she was young thus creating their different viewpoints is awesome. Also the Night Raiders and Negoro learning about the different portals at the same time was pretty interesting and leading to the land of the dead was intriguing as well. I am saddened by Himeya's defeat and looking like his death not sure in total but I quickly want to get to the next episode so I'm cutting this short.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 24: Himeya! I knew this was going to happen I just didn't realize it was going to happen like this with Himeya getting rejuvenated by the Night Raiders than having one of the most epic fights I've seen and then having an heroic death saving everyone and destroying Mizorogi (I hope) in the process. Was pretty much realizing Himeya was going to die when the whole episode had flashbacks to all his awesome moments and fights; it was a great send off for such a great hero and he died heroically rather than a chump so as much as I am sad I can enjoy it for what it was and how it is. The Night Raiders were kick ass with taking out the monster and helping take down Mizorogi, I guess the experimenting on Himeya was worth it because it helped save their lives and even Himeya's too before he sacrificed himself. It's going to be interesting moving on with this show, at least I love the Night Raiders so they'll keep me going and I hope the New Nexus is awesome too. UltraMan Nexus Episode 25: Well this was also a good send off to Himeya with explaining how they met Himeya to the higher ups. I loved Komon's answer to Himeya's journey that it was a terrible solitude always searching for answers. Also good to get clear answers about Nagi's past too. Intrigued with the Director and the Illustrator they both seem to know about UltraMan Next which I think I'm going to watch the movie before I continue the series since it's being brought up and I think it's the right time to watch it. UltraMan Nexus Junis Blue looks really awesome, I can't wait to see Punch Hopper become UltraMan! This show has also given me some hope that Himeya is still alive because all the characters have more than I do for him so I can definitely see that is might be. Well I can't wait for more. UltraMan The Next: Well they brought it up in the show so I decided to watch it. Excellent movie, Maki was an amazing character; that he achieved his dream and got to continue it with a family, and even gave it up to spend time with his family more. I love everything about him; fantastic character. The fight scenes were top notch very awesome even though there were like 2 of them they were definitely something else. I really enjoyed the last one a lot with Maki flying against him and that him and Next talking themselves back into the fight. He definitely felt connected to Nexus with his design. Really good character story going into a lot of the other characters back stories as well. Solid story with great characters, I am intrigued if anything more is referenced in Nexus so I'm glad I watched it. |
UltraMan Nexus Episode 26: I enjoy Ren a lot, well him being played by Punch Hopper helps but that's besides the point lol. His character was a lot of fun and he wanted to bring joy to even the lost kids at the amusement park. He looks like he has a dark past or something that he said to UltraMan about picking him but I just really enjoyed his line of "Why Don't I Accept." to UltraMan and becoming the next Nexus. With including the Next in the 3 UltraMan of this timeline I like all the Deunamists so far. I was enjoying Ren so much I forgot the Night Raiders were apart of this show lol. Though I still enjoy them and it looks like we'll hopefully get a more even split this time, hell for all the time they took I don't mind Ren stealing the spotlight. I am intrigued with the rumors being spread about the Memory Police all this shit the TLT is doing can't go around unnoticed for this long anymore. The Illustrator definitely feels more connected to the UltraMan stuff than he's letting on if he was able to sense Ren enter the place. Overall I can't wait to see Ren kick some space beast ass. Also The new opening theme is awesome, I love it as much as the first one.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 27: Well I just have to say that they brought more focus to the Deunamist and UltraMan with Ren I absolutely love and well Ren is just so much fun and extremely interesting that this show has gotten even better. It sucks because I love Himeya a lot but Ren has so much more life in him but it might be their reasons for fighting and that Ren was more accepting of this power and Himeya thought of this power as a curse but I still enjoyed the beginning and Himeya a lot too. It reminds of the Battle Cossacks in Battle Fever J, I loved the first one but the second one made the show better. Ren and Komon together was a lot of fun I enjoyed their time together and how this has lead Komon to try and look more into him which leads into even intriguing storylines. How Ren knows about the Memory Police and knows The Illustrator is even more interesting especially appearing at the end there, I didn't know how deep his ties went. Mizuo seems interesting too and it's good they try to delve more into the Memory Police anyways they seemed like an important part but didn't utilize them much before. The fight was awesome, Ren is a much faster UltraMan and still heroic as ever I can't wait to see some more of his finishers; he is so badass. Can't wait for more I think I only have 10 episodes left but this has been a very fun series so far. UltraMan Nexus Episode 28: I am totally loving Ren even more with each episode, as we learn more that he wants to aspire to be like a hero he read about who would watch over children and if they were danger he'd protect and save them. I also like the intriguing back story that Komon and the Illustrator talked about that he is a Promethe Child and that he was a Scientific Experiment from TLT, this gets even more intriguing with what's going on with this Organization the Night Raiders work for. Ren's spirit to keep on fighting even when he was losing was great I just like so much about him and also with his acting and spirit I don't see how this guy only ended up a tertiary rider like Punch Hopper and not a main or secondary rider, he's really awesome. I liked that Komon and Nagi went to observe the monster fight and help out UltraMan when that was kind of against their orders because I feel it shows that they trust the new UltraMan like Himeya wanted them too. I feel bad for Mizuo because she is being forced to do something she seems uncomfortable with but I hope it works out for her in the end. This show is getting really interesting at the end here. I can't wait for more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 29 DC: Well this was great, I wasn't expecting a double length episode for a Director's Cut but it was what I had so I figured it was probably the better cut of the episode. Enjoyed Ren obviously lol, saving Komon from the monster was cool and I am intrigued with the machine he is using that is testing something keeps coming up negative. I liked that they brought back Riko because the little girl was a big part of Komon's storyline and that it was interesting she was with Mizorogi with both of their minds erased and he is the one who caused all her issues. I am intrigued with what will happen to Mizorogi, he was my favorite villain in this series so far so his story does intrigue me. I think Mizuo grew better trying to protect Riko from the monster and also trying to find her with Komon too. Also I liked that Riko believed that Komon was trying to protect her from earlier not trying to hurt her by attacking her parents. UltraMan Nexus Episode 30: Mizuo was kick ass this episode, I really enjoyed her a lot which is why she gets first mention today. They made her seem weak from her first appearance but when her, Ren, and Komon chase after the guy watching Ren and she corners him, she was kicking this guy's butt. I'm glad they train the Memory Police well I was worried she wasn't going to be that skilled but I'm glad they cured my worries. Ren and Komon's friendship is a lot of fun, I am really loving these episodes more now than earlier but the show has evolved now and it makes it really good. I love Ren he kicked ass and is just a whole lot of fun, it was good to get into his head about how it is to be without parents and learning about both parents and children, I like that's why his personality is like it is, it's very endearing honestly. I enjoyed them all hanging out under the stars and having a picnic it was very calming for the characters and myself too. Ishibori confronting Captain Wakura was interesting about the rumors, their is a lot of shady business going on in TLT so it'll be intriguing to see what happens. I also liked learning a little more about the Illustrator too, he seems to have the answers were looking for but also lots of questions too. I want to know what this Raphael thing is at the end and why it made Ren react the way he did. I can't wait for more this is getting really exciting and intriguing with each episode. UltraMan Nexus Episode 31: It was intriguing to learn about The Illustrator and Ren’s past together at the Academy, it seems like the Illustrator had a lot more to him and it’s great to learn about him. The focus staying on Yuu, Komon, Mizuo, and Ren I am really enjoying this structure because they are all interesting and strong characters. Without Mizorogi you kind of lose part of Nagi’s story there but he’s coming back soon, also she had a great scene you in front of UltraMan’s path to make him dodge it and the oncoming blast. I am intrigued why Ren doesn’t want to protect himself in battle, is it more about saving people or more about he doesn’t care if he lives or dies; I feel like he’s like OOO so I’ll put he puts others’ well being over his own and I like that about his character. I like that Mizuo and Komon are both not mentioning what they found out to the TLT because I don’t trust who they work for and I think it’ll be better off this way. I like Komon and Ren talking that’s just a lot of fun and they have great acting chemistry together. I can’t wait for more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 32: Mizorogi's finale was excellent, we finally learned that he was a puppet himself; I feel bad for the guy overall he was weak and just let himself get taken over by the power of darkness and was manipulated in manipulating innocent people, and someone he cared about all for some unknown jackass. I loved that he felt bad and wanted to see Riko again after messing with her family and it seems like he wanted to try and apologize. His last transformation into Dark Mephisto again was awesome, I loved that he fought his heart out and grabbed the new Dark Mephisto to hold him so Ren could eliminate him. Overall Mizorogi was one of my favorite characters and his final redeeming point here was brilliant, I think he's one of my all-time favorite villains honestly. Mizuo was a lot of fun here with helping Mizorogi and just being her weird self made it difficult for even Mizorogi even knowing what she was planning. Mizuo is turning into one of my favorite characters here, it's a shame like Ren she came in at the end of the series. Ren took a back seat this episode but it made sense since this was dealing with more of the first half of the show before him and got back to more with Nagi and Komon. I liked that Nagi needed to hate Mizorogi to go on because she needed something to give her strength and that hatred actually helped her become a strong and competent fighter but she's also not needing the hatred of him anymore. I enjoyed Komon getting angry at Mizorogi but I also liked his restraint as well because honestly after all the shit he put Komon through he could have killed him, so I'm glad that he decided against that. The ending with Ren, Nagi, and Komon's names on the list is very interesting. I can't wait for the next episode. UltraMan Nexus Episode 33: Well all the back story on the word is right here in this episode, and in hindsight I am so glad I watched the UltraMan the Next movie because that was clearly very important to the entire Nexus world right now with The Next's battle with the Beast being the whole first battle they had here. I really enjoy the use of it and how everything ties together. Also I like that TLT is actually a good organization to help fight against the beasts and that's their true purpose. I also enjoyed learning that Ren is dying and that Raphael mentioned earlier is the cure to help him, now things are making a lot more sense and becoming a lot more intense too. Ishibori actually got some decent character this episode and the last few with wanting to investigate into TLT's actions and being he computer hacker he is, also he showed some confidence in himself too so I'm glad that they actually gave him a character because he was kind of just in the background for the last few episodes. I also enjoyed learning more about the head of TLT too rather than being wary of him that he also has a tortured past too. I also enjoyed Ren admitting that he has feelings for Mizuo they are both awesome and I think they would be cute together. Now things are going to get interesting here with the Beast attacking a city and UltraMan being seen to the public; I am very excited to see what's next. I am hoping to marathon the final episodes later today. I can't wait for more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 34: I totally love UltraRider NexusHopper, lol, seriously now I really do love Ren and his spirit to keep fighting even though he was already weakened I really loved. I love the never giving up attitude in heroes even when the odds aren't in their favor. Captain Wakura stood out today as well talking his team into action when they were all upset about having their memories erased; really good leading there getting them focused on saving people then worrying about what was done on them. I am sure Mizuo was shocked to find out Ren was UltraMan, intrigued about that development. I am still loving the connection to the movie here with the Head of the NA Division being the same woman from the movie. The guy with her building Raphael I like, because now the audience knows there is hope for Ren and I hope they help him in time. Unknown Hand is being a jackass so far and I can't wait to see what happens when he shows up more. That poor place at the end when Himeya went to, damn that new Dark Mephisto or whoever that is. UltraMan Nexus Episode 35: Totally love the Night Raiders even more now that they revolted against TLT to get Ren back from their experimentation. They aren't thinking right with trying to find out UltraMan's power even if it kills Ren. I loved both Wakura's explanation of UltraMan's power and Nagi helping convince Ren to fight differently; fighting to live rather than fighting thinking it's okay to die and changing his attack style to dodge and block attacks rather than take them. He fought much better here and was definitely awesome when working with the Night Raiders against two monsters rather than One vs Two. I definitely feel that Ishibori is Unknown Hand he has been used a lot recently and just has this evil look on his face; also it would make sense about knocking out the guy who was spying on Ren because he has the weaponry to do that as a Night Raider. I hope Ren gets saved or I am going to be as emotional as losing Himeya too. 2 more episodes left and I can't wait for more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 36: I loved everyone's emotions here as they were worried about Ren. I also loved Ren and Mizuo's fight where he was trying to erase her memories of him so she wouldn't have to deal with the pain if anything bad happened to him or if he died. He has such a heroic heart just like Himeya they are both beautiful characters and I loved them a lot. Ren's final battle was kick ass and he fought back hard and his spirit never broke and hope brought him back to finish the Ultimate Space Beast. I love Ren a lot I hope we see him in the final episode again one more time. Well let's see how it goes with the Night Raiders and the ending. UltraMan Nexus Episode 37 (Final Episode): Well shit, if that wasn't one of the best Toku endings I have ever seen then I don't know what is. Okay totally called Ishibori being Unknown Hand but him being the guy who killed Nagi's mother and have been close to his enemies all under their noses because he had the ability to erase their memories and play them for 18 years is completely insane. That he played Riko and Mizorogi all just to inspire hatred in Nagi and try to inspire hatred in Komon so that he could manipulate Nagi when she received the Light. I knew that hatred wasn't a good thing and it did bite her in the ass when the Lethe got a hold of her causing her to become darkness and have her energy absorbed by Ishibori who transformed into the ultimate Dark UltraMan of this series Dark Zagi, the destroyer of the Visitors world. However this leads to the moment I've been waiting for and I completely blanked on this being a possibility because of how much I freaking loved Ren. Komon goes in and saves Nagi from the darkness and they are teleported to the battlefield where Dark Zagi is, but the Light got passed to Komon. Komon becomes UltraMan Nexus! The freaking moment from the beginning of the series I was freaking hoping for actually happened. All of this training to be a Night Raider, fighting against the darkness, and being friends and helping the previous UltraMen makes perfect sense for him to receive it and he kicked ass. I totally loved the scenes with Himeya and Ren both empowering him and having him be able to switch forms from Red and then Blue; then having the people empowering him to become this Ultimate Silver Giant and just kicked the crap out of Dark Zagi and knocked him right out of the freaking planet! Other great moments were that both Himeya and Ren lived and watch the Night Raiders fight against the Beasts around the world. I also loved that everyone regained their memories of UltraMan and the Beasts that was great too. This was such a freaking amazing series and a perfect ending that makes me want to watch the series again to see what I didn't catch the first time. |
