Nice! I can't wait for my Gamera to arrive later this week. Then onto MKG, who might take over as the center-piece of my collection from Biollante. It's a tough call between those two.

It feels like it's been really quiet on the S.H.MonsterArts front, I hope we get some news soon. It's definitely going to be a light year release wise like they were saying, lol.

Yeah, it is getting annoying. They need to hurry up and get some more monsters out already as I want Showa MechaG, King Ceasar, and Anguirus.

It makes it a good time to catch up though. I've been picking a few older figures that I needed. Some I'll never be able to afford/want to afford.. Like Garuda. lol.

I only have SHMA Godzilla (Rebirth) and he's great. I would buy more if the prices for them didn't sky rocket so fast. Godzilla 2000 went up in prices very quick when he first came out.

Yeah, I'm bummed I missed out on Godzilla 2000, I quite like the purple and green. The new colors version will be a great addition, but I think I would still prefer the first version.

So would I. MireGoji is my favorite Godzilla design, but I draw the line at paying over $200 for a figure. The MA line is going to be one that I'll take my time with because of how absurd prices are.

Looks like I'm going to look for reviews before I get the spitfire version now.

Problem with these is that some of them are fine/less derped than others, you could watch 5 reviews with a good one and still get a lemon.

And since that's the case with 2 releases of the mold now, I doubt it'll change with the Spitfire one.

But Tamashii really screwed up with this one. At least Gamera seems to be okay paint-wise.

I don't even get how they can mess up even the freaking repaint. That just doens't make sense unless they took unsold stock and repainted them.

What the fuck Tamashii? They expect us to pay ￥16,200 and this what we got. What the hell is with the horrible paint job on the Godzilla 2014 figures?

I had a chance to try the accessories on Mecha-King Ghidorah. I love the capture claw! They're a nice display option if you want to capture your Godzilla figure! I just got to be careful with those thin wing tips. They look like they could break off easily.

I got my Gamera today. He is awesome except for a small problem. I had to request a replacement from Amazon because the shell piece that covers his groin area does not stay in. Not only was the peg itself not fully cut out (there is a wave of plastic still on it from the mold), but it is loose as all hell. If I sneeze it falls off. The same goes for one of the other shell pieces on the lower left side.

Despite that, this toy rocks and I can not wait until I get a fixed one. I love the flying accessories, but most of all, I love the fireball.

I discovered that the white paint used for the Crystals on SHM Space Godzilla's shoulders are tacky. I'm not sure if its the paint or the plastic used that's causing this. Is there a fix for this issue?

I wish we would get more Showa stuff in the MonsterArts line. Kamen Rider, Sentai and Ultraman get a lot of Showa love from Tamashii, but not Godzilla :(.

Well, since Special Color Ghidorah is a January 2016 release I think we can now safely say what a terrible year this was for MonsterArts. Aside from Gamera. Hope we get better stuff next year.

More Showa would be cool, but I hate the weird scale thing they've got going on with these. Is anyone even giving a damn? I would rather have bigger Showa MA's than a weird scale which makes no sense.

That being said, Showa Mechagodzilla would be a must-have for me.

They should just change the name to SH MonsterRepaints.

At this point, I would take any Showa MA in any scale, be it the 64 scale or standard ones. I mean seriously, they are just milking the Heisei stuff now. A poster variant? What next, battle damaged Space Godzilla? I'm about ready to call it quits on the MA line and just fine a different Godzilla line to support. I've thought about the X-Plus stuff, but they are so damn expensive. $500 for Ghidorah is just too much.

What I got out of that interview:

The fact that they mention " new category template" for the same character tells me that a zero arts line is in the works at this point.

Honestly, outside of a Rose Biollante zero art, I won't be collecting that type of line. I want articulated kaiju with good to amazing sculpts, not statues.

The other thing that I got out of the interview was the mention of pulling back on the line and waiting for a new opportunity to present itself. Outside of a movie year, they're not planning on pushing the line with new figures. That doesn't bode well or show confidence for the line in non-media years.

I'll still collect the main line, but the repaints are starting to become tiresome. I understand why they're made. It's good business practice for toy companies to cover their costs, but I may have to become more selective of the repaint choices.

The only real positive I got out of this was Gamera did well. Good to hear! I hope that opens the door for Gyaos or Legion. I'd buy them in a heartbeat!

Anyway, I was thinking of posting on Bluefin's FB page to campaign for a SHMA Titanosaurus again, but after this interview, I think it's a wasted effort.

Wow... I was pretty sad reading this. Seems like the times of 4-5 new Godzilla SHMA releases in the year are over. From now on it's more repaints and... statues.

It's good to hear that Gamera did well, but I dont care about Gamera, so... meh.

The only positive thing out of this is that we'll see some new brands in the line soon, this could be interesting.

It's Sentai Figuarts all over again.

It sucks because Bandai has given up since they are done with the Heisei era. If they had just came out and said they weren't going to do anything from the Showa era and only do 3 figures from the Millennium series right from the get go, I wouldn't be so disappointed.

So I am a noob to S.H. Monsterarts, but it appears that not only am I late, but that changes are coming that I hadn't anticipated. I am mainly a Transformer collector and a member of TFW2005, but I recently got the Godzilla bug and some friends pointed me in the direction of S.H. Monsterarts. So far I have not been disappointed and have acquired 9-10 pieces.

My primary interest was in the "classic" Godzilla monsters, or Showa series, but I guess they are not coming now?? Can someone explain to me what "SHMA zero" would mean exactly? Does this mean no more articulation?

Hopefully we will get more concrete (and better) news at Toy Fair this February. Thanks and please excuse my ignorance :)

Yeah MonsterArts isn’t doing well right now, sadly. They tried to get into new territories with the Alien vs. Predator stuff and Gamera, and while Gamera did end up selling well from what I’ve heard the AvP hideously clogged the shelfs. No one wanted this. It didn’t help that Neca was already doing tons of Predator-stuff for the US-market and that Tamashii started with the Wolf Predator from AvP2. Like, WTF.

And I don’t know why, but they seem to be really afraid of touching anything Showa. Maybe Japan isn’t into it much, but most stuff they’ve done is Heisei- and Millenium-figures. And these sold rather well from what I’ve heard.

But the line is obviously not doing well enough, Gamera was the last new mold and that’s almost a year ago now.

Tohokingdom.com has an insider in the forum who works with Bandai and he keeps insisting that they merely take a break and that we should look forward to 2016. Whatever that means. I mean, there is the new Godzilla-movie coming out, that could be a release. But there are also other figures rumored, nothing confirmed though.

And what has been going around in the scene is that Tamashii thinks about doing MonsterArtsZero. This comes from the term FiguArtsZero who are just statues. So maybe they do statues and see how well these will be received.

I just don’t know; I only want a new MonsterArts-mold once every quarter of the year or so. I would be okay with 3-4 new figures a year, it doesn’t have to be a new figure every month. There’s still so much cool and weird stuff they could do, I think it would be a huge waste to let this line die.

And also, @Topic: HLJ is selling the SHMA Rebirth Godzilla on the Winter sale for 30 bucks. If I had any money left, I would get one :(

Yeah unfortunately SHMA Zero likely means a statue-type line, a la FiguartsZero. There might be some swappable parts, but that's the best you can hope for in a situation like that.

I can't remember if we've ever gotten MonsterArts news at ToyFair, but nothing MonsterArts-related (even more redecos or the talked-about Zero statues) was shown off at the Tamashii Nations show at the end of October, so I'm not anticipating anything new anytime soon after the Poster Color King Ghidorah.

Considering I've seen a few Garudas start to get listed lower than the previous 18000-20000 yen asking prices, maybe/hopefully some of the more expensive pieces will start coming down in price if the line is dead and people start checking out, so those that still want them can get them for cheaper.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that chatter. Still seems weird to let '15 be such a whimper for the line. Hopefully the line does get going again though (and hopefully this "break" talk is a good sign the Ultra-Act line doesn't die either).

I didn't realize HLJ had that deal on Rebirth either; if I hadn't just shipped the only thing in my PW I might've tossed that in.

Yeah he’s called Naruto over there and also has an account here but I don’t remember the name. He makes awesome stuff with figures, photos and videos and stuff, very professional. I guess that’s why they hired him.

He never leaks anything but he knows stuff and will drop hints. Which is legit, he’s not lying.

Of course plans change and they could put the line on ice for a longer time, but he said on multiple times we should look forward to 2016 and this gives me hope.

Unfortunately, MonsterArts aren't selling well because Bandai seems to think that repaints makes a line sell.

The line is pretty much done like Injustice, Sentai, Alien, and Predator.

Injustice was a pretty damn short sighted license in the first place. I don't know who at Bandai decided that would be a profitable license to pick up. But they were wrong. The first figures came out nearly a year after the game was relevant. They got 4 figures out and then clearly realized no one bought them. If they're going to do DC figures they should at least do what they did for Marvel & acquire movie likenesses seeing as comic figuarts will probably never happen.
