You sort of have to take Amazons as its own thing as opposed to a main Rider entry. It's going to feel a lot more bleak than the mainstream Rider shows precisely because it seeks to challenge those shows' more upbeat outlook on things.
Haruka, Jin and Chihiro are all typical Rider protagonists when taken to their logical extremes. Haruka fights in the name of justice, but this means he won't hesitate to cut down an evil human the same way he would a monster. Jin strictly hunts monsters, but does nothing about humans that are equally as dangerous. Chihiro is a Rider whose power source stems from his monstrous nature, but unlike the Riders we've come to know from the main series, he isn't able to fully suppress this side of him and he ultimately can't be trusted to use his powers for good without endangering everybody around him. Amazons is to Kamen Rider what KOTOR 2 was to Star Wars. |
I'm fine with less bright hope in Amazons. We have many other Rider shows that have a more hopeful feel to them. Something different felt nice for once.
One thing that I notice in Amazons that I didn't like is the CG blood. It looks CG to me and I can't stand CG blood. They should have done it the old way with practical special effects. Quote:

While I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as Season 1, I found myself enjoying it a lot more when I started thinking of it's plot, weird romance included, as a tragedy instead of as a Kamen Rider show. Chihiro was an idiot, but he was also a young child mentally, trying to play the stereotypical Rider hero, not realizing the for him, that was never going to be an option. I liked the switch from him as the main Rider of the first half to Haruka taking back the role, or even arguably Jin did. Though you wouldn't exactly call Jin a straightforward protagonist, there's a serious argument to be made for him being the real main character of Amazons

Den-O is trash and its comedy made me hate light-hearted/nonsencial series since then.
|
Old Heisei rider shows except Kuuga, Kiva and Den-O, were meh. Kabuto was a trainwreck, Blade was an ok show, but not as good as people say. Agito has so boring protagonist

I wish had a Rider less generic.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t get why people say the second half of Drive is so great. It seemed pretty much like the first half to me, which means it was fun but not great.
I also love Kabuto in spite of it being a trainwreck! |
I miss Kuuga/Agito vibe.
|
Agito was great. Not sure why I never really see people talk about it.

Mild one:
SIC has horrible designs that look like overcomplicated fan designs come to life and ruin the themes by making technological riders look like monsters and organic riders look like monstrosities. The stories they pair with their awful designs are also pretty crap. |

However I really like Ultimate Rising Kuuga, and Orange Arms Gaim. ..possibly because they don't look like monstrosities. but yeah, those are the only 2 so far I've liked. |
Since Kuroto are revived, I really dislike Kuroto especially after he become funny character. I really love Kuroto as main villain from Ex-Aid episode 1 to episode 23. After his revival, Kuroto become annoying, loud, and boring character. Yeah, he become one of worst villain in my opinion. I think it will be more interesting if he never become funny character.
Parado has better character than Kuroto in my opinion..... |
Ex-aid looks like a Barbie dollhouse.

I wish Rx had a third form.

Emu crying over Kuroto's first death was dumb. Yes, cry over the man that screwed with your genes, lied and manipulated you countless times, and is basically the single cause of all the conflicts in the show.

I've never really been a fan of Build since it started airing.
But I've tried to watch it. Yet the motivation just wasn't there. As a result, I've only watched about 20 or so episodes of the show (1-6, 10-15, 17, 19-21, 24, 28, 31, 36 and 37). And I've read up on the rest by scouring forum threads listening to people's theories, which are quite fun, not gonna lie. I skipped, essentially, the entire middle arc because it was a bit repetitive and angsty for my tastes (not to mention, I was heavily stressed in college during this arc, and darkness was not what I needed to take my mind off it) And this whole final arc has felt a bit lackluster. The villain, Evolto, is just... A bit too flawless. "Xanatos Gambit" villains are great. But I feel like this guy isn't done right. And even with the next episode synopses detailing that, after Evolt gets his final upgrade, he just doesn't do anything, and sends Mad Rogue after Sento! Instead of killing him or, I don't know, destroy Earth! Like, what kind of villain, after achieving ultimate power, just sits back and doesn't finish the deeds he wants to accomplish? And this isn't even mentioning how most of the story-progressing plot points are usually given through exposition. Exposition isn't bad. But if it's one of the main ways (read: "only ways") to progress the plot, it gets a bit tiresome. TL;DR Point being, I'm not a fan of Build. I'm essentially skipping episodes unless there's a new form, and even then, I skip to the henshin. But because I haven't "watched it all", my arguments might as well be ignored. EDIT: I've seen episodes 1-6, 10-15, 17, 19-21, 24, 28, 31, and 36-39. 24 total episodes. Again, I've read up on missed episodes using reviews (though that may not be enough to validate my opinions for some of you). And after the most recent episode, Evolto's two-faced goal changes from enslaving humanity back to killing Earth. But because of reasons, he's just gonna sit back for 5-8 more episodes and let our heroes get the last piece of exposition. Also, many 4chan users are (albeit jokingly) thinking that Vernage is secretly evil and Evolto is secretly good; which is an ending I think it'd fit in with Build's clunky writing. |

I'll concede Blood Stalk/Coffee Shop Owner was much more interesting than Evolto who's suddenly sort of a generic alien bad-guy who destroys everything because "reasons".
Still I'll ride this show till the wheels come off. I hated so many of the early episodes and thought some of the costumes were just embarrisingly stupid (Vacuum Cleaner arm I'm looking at you),..but it creeped up on me and before I knew it I really liked the show and characters. Grease is without doubt my favorite secondary rider. ...ahh...no,...I know, "What about Banjo/Cross Dragon"? I still say Grease is the secondary Rider. Because, .."reasons" Lol |
