This year turned out pretty good, if only because the cake we got this time did not end up tasting spoiled like the Tres Leches cake that we bought last year. Also we just went full shrimp family platter delivery via Red Lobster so that was good. Shrimp is good.

Best part of eating at/from Red Lobster. I feel like my meals there are Cheddar Bay Biscuits as the main course, and seafood as a side dish.

I was out in the city today and I found a few hobby stores. To ny surprise, one of them were selling shokugan Sentai Gears. They're not even selling the DX Gatlinger, so hilariously it's practically useless outside of decorative purposes.

So funny thing just happened.

I was about to sleep when I realised my phone was missing. I didn't want to wake up to its alarm and have to scramble around the house trying to find it to turn the alarm off, so I asked my parents to quickly ring it.

Now here's the thing. Recently I changed my ringtone to Kamen Rider Sabela's theme song, which, to those who don't know, sounds like an Amazonian death song (go listen to it on YouTube if you don't believe me).

5 seconds later eerie wailing jungle music starts blasting at full volume from my sister's room (along with an audible "What the-?" from its occupant), and that's when I realised I left it there when I tucked my sister to bed.

So yeah that was pretty funny and I suppose I better go to sleep now lol.

it would be funny if your sister's phone was in another place within your house but the ringtone was Durendal-related. :lolol

My PC is broken with a screen that does not work. I probably won't be on here as much because I hate typing with my phone.

I want to try and get back into writing, and would be exciting, but existentialism is doing a big number on me. That and just good old anxiety.

My job is giving us a week off starting the 19. Probably won't be going on any vacation, but it'll be nice to just relax, catch up on my reading list, sticker/paint some kits

Nah I mean petty by how toxic fanbases can potentially ruin my enjoyment of a series. Back then I stopped watching Netflix Voltron due to its fanbase. I also stoppef watching the Arrowverse because I can't stand the Olicity fanbase.

It's why when it comes to anime I very very rarely talk about it, since anime fandom can be more volatile than usual.

I was at the Ultraman subreddit where I learned that Geed's actor is a huge fan of Ultraman Justice so I said I wondered if Koichi Sakamoto included Justice in TAC as a favor to Geed's actor. The OP for some reason got really and posted 3 paragrahps and lowkey insulted me so I called him out for being a jerk when I wasn't even being rude. OP probably realized that and deleted the comments sadly.

Sidenote I've seen that the Rider subreddit can be pretty toxic so I rarely go there.

I 100% agree that fanbases can have some really overbearing individuals. I've heard the horror stories of the My Hero Academia fanbase, I cut ties with Star Wars before it got really bad, though I never truly interacted with a fanbase, so I'm pretty lucky to be a recluse.

That said, as there are annoying people, there are also good people among those fans, maybe it's just me always looking on the bright side of things, but I find it best to not associate yourself too much with any specific fanbase, especially the ones with the most exposure and popularity. I understand we all like to talk about things we like, but in this day and age, that's something that's hard to do, and it's disappointing that most people can't get into these amazing franchises without being bullied for their views or innocent misconceptions.

So what I'm saying is: Don't let others tell you how you should view the things you like. Heck, we have a whole thread dedicated to unpopular opinions in Toku, and nobody's destroyed us yet.

At any rate, I just recently saw the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Movie. It's really good, but I don't think it's anything mind-blowing either, nor is it the greatest Anime Film (Ghibli is it's own category) ever, but I still really enjoyed it.

I just got into Demon Slayer as well and while I love it, I kinda found it baffling as to why it has overwhelming popularity? Like, it's great, but not genre changing. It was pretty surprising for it to be the highest grossing anime movie as well as for the year 2020 (despite primarily releasing in 2021 worldwide).

I guess that's how some people see the MCU.

Don't feel like you missed out. There are many, many reasons to not watch Legendary Defender.

Speaking of, I was genuinely surprised when Shonen Jump editors did not pull their usual shenanigans of forcefully extending the story for Demon Slayer. Because they tend to do that with Dragon Ball being one of their victims. It actually ended when it had to and maintained the scope which was new for me.

I think I might be slowly going insane in my room so I think I'll step outside of my house tomorrow for a change of pace.

I remember being a part of a group of readers who thought that Tanjiro demon would become the new antagonist after Muzan's death and Nezuko would become a demon slayer to stop her brother so I was a bit disappointed it didn't go that way. Once I got past it, I did recognise that Demon Slayer ended on a perfect note; not too long and not too short. Sure it was shorter than other shonen series but that's kind of the whole point: Tanjiro was never fighting to save the world, he was fighting to bring his sister back to normal. A nice story that reminded us that sometimes smaller is better.

Netflix now has a video download option so I'm watching Beast Morphers , Dino Fury and Netflix stream exclusive shows on my I Pad.

Now I can watch Power Rangers off line. As this is the case I have Beast Morphers and Dino Fury episodes on my I Pad.

And thus my surprised reaction. Yeah, I hope Shonen Jump editors keep this practice up. It also helps that anime has been adapting seasons to mitigate the problem where episodes catch up to the serialization on anthologies like Shonen Jump. Heck it was the reason why Saint Seiya for example dragged a lot of their stories on anime to avoid catching up and ended on the Poseidon arc if I recall.

The Asgard Arc was legit dope though.

Speaking of Anime keeping up with the Manga it's adapting, I'm glad Black Clover is taking a good long break while the author gets farther in the story. Same can be said with My Hero Academia releasing seasons every now and again, which I hear the Manga is nearly finished.

I'm just looking forward to Kaiju No. 8 and Record of Ragnarok Mangas getting localized.

Ah, yes. stuff like that was cool. I just have a gripe of how Shonen Jump burns out their creators most of the time. It's frustratiing to watch. Heck I heard Toriyama was burnt out so badly that after Dragon Ball was done for good he pretty much said none of that and ever since has been working on mostly art for Dragon Quest and smaller manga projects like COWA! for example. I recommend checking out COWA! if you ever have the chance by the way. Has the whimsiness of Dr. Slump mixed with a dose of Nickelodeon's AHH! Real Monsters if I recall.

The manga ended last year right? That was surprising, you'd think with the anime being a hit Shonen would be more up at arms to keep the series going.

Anyways hearing the news of mangas surpassing comics are pretty depressing if you're a comic fan.

I don't wanna go on a massive tangent about it, so I'll keep it really short: The show ends up literally only having one thing going for it once season 3 hits, and then the show almost immediately rips it away and literally everything is massively downhill from there. Whatever attracted you to the show, be it Voltron nostalgia, shipping, or giant robots, this show actively goes out of its way to piss off basically everyone who'd watch it.

Damn, I just got hit with some bad news.

Not to go into too many details, but if anyone didn't know, COVID did a real number on international freight. It caused a huge backlog of shipping and a matching demand for shipping containers. So now the price for freight has increased as much as 9x the cost.

The bill for my shipping container which was only supposed to be around $3k, is now $25k. This is the single biggest unexpected expense I've ever had to deal with.

I uh... don't know what to do...
