I'm probably going to save my $10 and wait for it at the Red Box. |
lmao that's embarrassing, didn't they say it'd be very R rated last year too?
|
I wouldn't be surprised if an R rated cut is released on Blu Ray a la Batman v Superman.
|
So reading Infinity Wars and
Gamora chopped off Thanos' head. ...wait WHAT? |
So I finally saw Black Panther and I really like it. I like the movie has an identity of its own without us being reminded that it is apart of the MCU like most MCU movies do. This movie was a superhero movie with a message by going deeply into serious political issues and they actually matter to the story. I feel like Black Panther did its serious subject matter better than the Captain America and Iron Man movies in my personal opinion.
I also love the visuals and probably the best-looking visuals that I have seen in a long time (Probably since Avatar). Overall, Black Panther was great and I do want to watch it again. This movie felt like a fresh breath of air compared to most superheroes movies from the last 5-10 years. I said a while back that I was done with superhero movies (Unless it is a character that I like Deadpool, Venom, Thanos, etc) because I feel like most superhero movies now have become stale in my opinion. Black Panther really took me by surprise and I wish that I saw it in theaters when it was playing. I give this movie an 8.5/10 |

Finally got around to finishing Iron Fist Season 2.
Without spoiling it, I can say this much is certain: it is huge, HUGE step up from season 1 in every regard. Both the acting and the fight choreography are improved from the first season. Like, I actually want them to do a season 3 now. |
I hear Venom is not very good. It seems like the movie water down a lot of things from the comics. It basically another Nic Cage Ghost Rider all over again from the looks of it.

Meh, I didn't have particularly high hopes anyway so I think I'll end up happy with whatever we get. Even if its bad I'll probably get a laugh out of it.
Into The Spider-Verse looks fantastic though, can't wait for that. |

I wish Venom was rated R. It would have been cool to see him rip up some people limb to limb. I wanted a fun violent movie like how Blade was. Instead, we got a horror movie trying to feel a bit like the MCU. In other words, making the movie more family friendly. I saw a screening for this movie and it sucked big time. It was Daredevil all over again.
With Deadpool and Logan being R rated, I don't know why was it so hard for Venom to be R rated. I read Venom solo comics with him being more darker and violent that are aim to grown ups. Even Maximum Carnage felt like a horror movie to me. |
I love how the Spidermen are animated differently. It really fits with the idea that these are people from another universe.

I'm so burned out by Spider-Man, so I probably won't see the animated movie until it shows up on Netflix, Amazon or on TV (Probably FX or CN will probably air it).

Man... West Coast Avengers is super disappointing so far, it's only two issues in so I'm hoping they can turn it around but they are really not doing my girl justice.

Plus Kelly Thomson isn't particularly the best writer. From what I heard she's good on some titles like Mr. and Mrs. X/Rogue and Gambit (I've seen people that liked those two minis) but not a lot of people liked her Hawkeye run. Or West Coast Avengers so far. And now she's going to write Captain Marvel, a constant train wreck when it comes to relaunches. |

I don’t think I’ve read any of Kelly Thomson’s work before, but so far, she’s not really winning me over. I’m going to keep reading for a few more issues, at least. See if this is just stumbling at the beginning or if she really just doesn’t need know how to handle these characters. |
X-Men Blue is pretty much done. Jimmy went on to become Poison(who is basically Wolverine and Venom rolled in one) which is just everything 7-year-old me would probably want. Recently started reading Spider-Man hearing Boomerang is his roommate, and I LOVED Boomerang and his shenanigans on Superior Foes of Spider-Man so that will keep me busy.
Folks, if you have not, PLEASE PLEASE check out X-Men Grand Design. It is a recap of what the X-Men went through so far in the comics, and if it was just that I would not care, but the art. THE ART. IS SO GOOD. There are some nice panels that should be printed and hung on a wall. Just for the art it is worth it. Again, Ed Piskor's art is beautiful. Still not convinced? Okay.*click* https://i.imgur.com/i3uu9wn.jpg?1 |
X-Men Grand Design is great. It's good to see the X-Men of old once again. I dropped X-Men Blue after the whole time travel arc. Didn't interest me anymore and really no intention of picking it back up.
Spencer's Amazing Spider-Man has been consistently good so far. I was a bit hesitant with Spencer cos this was the guy who thought making Captain America a Hydra agent was a good idea. But Spencer has been nailing it with ASM, definitely enjoying it more than the huge majority of Slott's almost 10 year run with Spidey. Also, if anybody hasn't already, check out the What If? Spider-Man/What If Flash Thompson Became Spider-Man that came out this week. It's probably the best of the new What If?s so far. I definitely enjoyed it. Other great titles at Marvel nowadays are Soule's Daredevil, Ewing's Immortal Hulk, Cates' Venom and his Cosmic Ghost Rider mini-series, and Zdarsky's Marvel Two in One (although the art has really downgraded and isn't particularly good now). |
Venom was an average movie. Not good or bad, just okay. I think this movie is nowhere as bad as Catwoman as some people make it out to be. I still won't call this movie a good movie though.
The best thing about this movie was the really solid performance from Tom Hardy. He did a great job on playing the role and I'm glad that they pick him for the role. I also didn't mind the CG for the movie and I thought it looks fine for the most part. Anyone who says this movie has CG from 1995 is being too harsh. It's no Avatar CG, but it's hardly the worst CG ever. Everything else in the movie falls flat sadly. The characters and story are pretty generic and boring. You can tell how the movie is going to start and end from the very start of the movie. I didn't care for anyone except for anyone except for Eddie. Carlton Drake had a cool plan for his evil ideas, but they are not freshened out very well. Another thing I did not like about the movie is the inconsistent tone. This movie feels like a serious horror movie then it becomes a comedy. People thought the humor in The Predator was bad when this is worse if you ask me. You can tell that Sony did step in and changed a lot of things to make it feel more friendly. While the movie is a bit darker and violent than the MCU movies, that's not saying much. I do agree with most critics that the action and violence in the movie did felt water down. It has a similar issue that other comic book superhero movies had like Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Spawn and Jonah Hex where they took characters who are known to be dark and violent than water them down to be PG-13. I know Venom has been in many comics aim towards all ages, but Venom has solo comics aim towards to adults. If X-Men can get R rated movies while the main series be PG-13, why can't Venom? Even if the movie sucks with an R rating, at least having some over the top death and gore scenes would be fun to watch. Overall, Venom is average at best with good acting and wasted potential. This movie could have been so much more, but didn't. I would recommend renting this movie at your local Red Box or wait for a possible streaming option later. I give it a 6/10. |

Regarding the costumes I hope Marvel takes some major notes from X-Men Blue when producing MCU X-Men movies. The designs are just perfect and the colors are a nice nod to their individual costumes from the old days. |

Venom made 80 million on opening weekend. We will probably get a sequel, but I wish they didn't water it down for possible MCU crossovers if they don't know if that will happen. The movie can't fit into the MCU anyways.

Eddie does not believe in Aliens in the movie when Aliens are common knowledge with every day people in the MCU. If Venom is apart of the MCU somehow, it would have take place before The Avengers.

I would imagine we will get a third Spider-Man Home movie in the MCU to wrap up things. I hope after that, they give Spider-Man a rest with movies.

Netflix has officially canceled "Iron Fist."

Shame. While Iron Fist wasn't really all that good, the Ward character was probably the most grounded (Well, as grounded as a multi-millionaire can be) and interesting side characters the Netflix shows had to offer.
I was genuinely interested to see where his story was going. |
To those who have seen both seasons, did they finally give Danny his hero suit in season 2 or did they still dress him up like a stereotypical 1990s stoner?

The closest they did was give him his mask in a flashback. http://digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/18/30/...ellow-mask.jpg |
