Now now you two, calm down :).
Now I can see why people are sad about what happened- he was just a teen. Sure a teen who wanted to fight and prove he had power, but he still was a teen. After being abandoned by his crew and the person he thought was his friend, it was heartbreaking. Then to have him in constant fear, you can't help but want to give him a hug. We essentially saw someone go from being a thug, to comic relief, to a shattered mess, to someone who lost control of himself, only to see instead of a way for him to regain control, just see him taken down in front of the person who tried to save him. Doesn't matter if he was the most prominent character or not. He was still someone the audience could relate to in some way, and that's why they care so much about what happened to him. |
Hase has a cool story and all, but I do agree that it's hard to really care much because he was so underdeveloped as a character. End of the day, I'm probably going to walk away from Gaim remembering what happened to Hase, but I doubt I'm going to remember much about the character himself (Like Punch Hopper from Kabuto).

Just because discussion isn't going your way, doesn't mean it's "fluffy" or "vapid." You been INCREDIBLY condescending about this whole issue, no ifs ands or butts about it. Really, it's incredibly, incredibly difficult to not read your posts and think you're just being this way because you like Wizard and it's unpopular, so it bugs you. And you know what? I'm 50 shades of A-okay with that. I like shit that's unpopular, too. But don't make it out like it's everyone else's problem, or that their opinions are unjustified. People are inclined to like what is good, so if something is good discussion generally swings more to the positive because it has overall a positive effect. You're tryign to seperate objective from subjective, a futile effort when the entire point of a forum is for OPINIONS and feelings on a subject. If you want to dissect, dissect, but don't act like people who don't view the show as a cross-section are somehow not contributing or being "vapid." |
I'll be the first to jump in defense of Gaim as a series.I think it's great and it's heading in the right direction. That being said,Hase was used as a plot point.
I liked Hase.Heck I thought if he had character building before this whole story where he got ditched and died,I would've actually felt bad for his death, but Locke is right. The only time Hase got any kind of character building was right before his death. That to me is cheap.Hase was used more as a point of "If humans eat the fruit, this is what happens" instead of making us care about him. They literally took the least popular rider and sacrificed him. Does it suck Hase died? Yeah,I wish he would have survived and found a way to become Kurokage again.Did they use his death as a plot point instead of character building? Yeah, they certainly did. I love this series.Everything about it.The goofiness, the serious plot points, the character building, everything. This was the first flaw I found, and before you say it isn't,how many character building episodes did Hase have before his death? |

Regardless, this thread needs get back on track with what it is, rumors and speculation. Not opinion. |
Nobody said that Hase was the deepest Character on the show.
People liked Hase because he was a quirky side character that people enjoyed to watch. Him and jonouchi were a great Duo and peopled liked seeing them try to get more power, get better at fighting and compete with the likes of Kouta and Kaito. So when he lost his Driver, the one he thought off as his beast Friend and his entire Team the people who liked seeing him do quirky comic relief stuff felt bad for him and made a certain connection to him. So when he gets killed off those People who enjoyed the cahracter being on the show have every right in the god gamn world to be sad about it. Being a deep and complex character isnt a requirement for liking and or caring about him getting massacred. there are more than enough people who can enjoy a minor one dimensional character like Hase and still feel like shit when he is killed off in such a cold and brutal way. EDIT: dmn it didnt see your post Den-O...sorry |
All good man. Just don't want this thread to turn into arguments.
|
So then lets get this back on track shall we?
Now that Sid has gotten his hands on some juicy cherry flavored rider powers of death...how long till he shows Micchy whos the boss now? |
I actually figured Sigurd would be a different person, honestly. Seems kind of weird having 3/4 of the Energy Riders be people we know and only one be someone new. Though, there really isn't anything wrong with having more / new female characters, so!
