Really?
If taking only design into account, I'd probably rank Kabuto in top 3. I love that suit. |

But then another dude had the same belt? Quote:

However, in the show, Tendou receives the Rider Belt from the Worm that killed his father. This could be a change the universe underwent to ensure its existence... or it's just ignorance of the movie. |

Watched the first two episodesbof Hibiki and the first eps of Blade and OOO. I liled 'em all, but I really need to settle on just one. Or maybe two, I dunno.
Blade seemed interesting, though I'm kind of confused as to what's going on. Tjis series has two riders already, but they're both a part of this government organization out to fight the monsters, so it makes sense. I like the whole playing card thing as well as the setup at the end, with that one rider betraying Blade and the organization at the end. Hibiki was weird, but interesting. I knew it had a music theme, but I didn't know music would be...everywhere in it. Hibiki seems cool though. Gotta give props to a suerhero who changes into costume via tuning fork and kills giant spidera by drumming on their back. OOO looks like a lot of fun, but I'm not sure how to pronounce the title. The whole Greed idea is pretty imteresting, and I like OOO's Rider suit a lot. Weird how he cjamged forms in the very first episode, though. Also as for that police officer Ankh took over....is he, uh, dead or what? Oh and a motorcycle vending machine is an amazing idea. |

Wow if that is a 4kids adaptation it is extremely dark, I'm amazed they allowed all that they did allow in the adaptation. And I know everyone likes kicking it around on this Board for whatever reason but I still really love it, it's the first Kamen Rider series I could stand right until the last episode. |
So I just watched my next recommendation, 'Kuuga'. It was...okay. Nothing about it really stood out to me other than the fact it seemed to take a lot of aesthetic choices from Hammer Horror. Plus you can certainly tell it's almost 15 years old, wow those effects and suits look tacky.
I will admit though that the Kuuga and the spidergina dude fight was actually really epic, probably the most epic fight scene out of any of the ones I've tried yet. And my final one, Agito. I loved pretty much everything about it, it was like a blend of all my other recommendations but also with a sweet suit design. About the only thing I disliked was that the cop had the cooler suit but then it was useless. The way he had to get the suit on was really shit as well. |

One thing I, nor you, would have known watching the first ep of Agito is how slow it is. I'm talking snails pace. Barely anything worth anything happens for the longest time, and plot points take ages to develope. The villains motivation isn't even made clear until almost two thirds in. It tries to be a mystery, but the "let's just not explain or hint at anything for ten episodes" mystery. It sets some stuff up, then just sits on it without even reminding us which questions are being asked. Spoilers, It took until the last six or so episodes to reveal just the second most important plot element. Most of the show, realistically, is just Agito faffing about until he just randomly decides to fight a monster while the police stand around asking questions. Also, minor spoilers, but Agito as a person has got to be the most disconnected from rider stuff of any main rider I've watched. When he's not fighting he's literally doing nothing relevant, only having spidey sense at literally random times to go fight the monsters, then goes home and never even acknowledges what happened. It's like his in-suit and out-of-suit segments are cut from two different shows. Quote:
Also it's less weird that he body-swapped a part when you realise how many medals there will be. Also the detective isn't dead, but he's close. Ankh's keeping him alive. Also yeah, ridevendors are way cooler than they sound. |

Maybe I should just go with Kabuto instead. |
Didn't Split hate Kabuto even more? :lol
Anyway, while it's nice to heed the opinions everyone has to present, only you can make the call on how you view a series. If you thought Agito was nice, why not continue until it reaches that same "Bore" point it did for Split? |

I think the show's biggets problem is it's not enough plot to fill 49 episodes. Seriously, the story could fit into about 35 and be way the hell more streamlined, though that wouldn't help certain plot elements from being under-developed. Also, it's a rather... irritating series. The camera angles, the obnoxious filters, the two fucking pieces of music for the entire show, and just the editting and scene pacing is just kind of annoying. I try to refrane from calling too much stuff actually awful, but Agito is massively underwehlming. Even going in, ignoring the hype, it's just boring. Again, it's a poorly concieved mystery. It's like if you're playing clue and someone threw all the answer cards in the trash and you didn't find them for two days. That's not really a mystery. Quote:

What I will say is I have noticed in a lot of these Rider series, they are HORRIBLY put together. Like tacky suit designs aside, a lot of the cinematography is like someone stuck the camera on a bit of rope and swung it violently around. With extreme over editing so it looks like a shitty music video from the 90s. |
Quote:
Also yeah, you probably wouldn't like Agito then. I was seriously almost about to make a comparrison to a music video. :lol A lot of Rider series can sometimes get too caught up in trying to be all artsy-fartsy. Even the ones I like. |

But yeah there does seem to be a lot of pretentiousness around KR productions which seems almost in direct contradiction to what it is. However, I have liked the artistic nature of Wizard so far, largely because it seems pretty controlled and self contained. Rather than others, which seems to use styles just for the sake of it while also making no attempt to make the visuals coherent. |

I watched Episode 9 of OOO, interesting about Eiji's history, and great to see more Combo's love the Yellow one.

Watched episode 2 of Kabuto, took a while to get going but man when it got going!
The change beetle cast off whatever Kabuto form is really cool and I love the freeze time gimmick. What I disliked was the Driver repeating everything said, it was stupid and his rider kick was pretty unspectacular. |
So the good version of the Kabuto suit didn't appear until episode 2? Huh. Well, alright then :lol
But his Rider kick is intentionally simplistic. After the wild changes brought on by Hibiki (The series that came before it), they wanted to bring things back down and make it clear in a "Back to basics" sense (That's the best way I can describe it, since slowing time isn't exactly "Basic" :p). |

Just watched, finally, the two episode arc of Infinity in Wizard. I enjoyed them. Not Infinity so much but the episode itself. And it all comes down to that helmet... he looks bald. Not in a good way like Darth Maul, but in a horrible big headed way like The Leader. |
Quote:
Also yeah, the parrot zecters and dumb rider kick bug me. It'd be much cooler if it was just the zecter speaking. |
Quote:
I'm not in love with the design (It's my least favorite Wizard design), but there are worse Rider suits out there. Quote:

And yeah, he just kind of spins on the spot with some cheap lightning effects, while saying Rider Kick twice because of the Driver echo. Quote:
He'd look okay in any other series but since his power ups before that involved like dragon mecha on his body, the powers here just feel really weak and don't suit the...suit. |
KITSubs released episode 32 of Stronger this morning and it's a good one. The Delza Army infighting continues as we get to meet Secretary of State Wolf, who has possibly the stupidest-looking head ever. I spent a long time wondering why Stronger had so much hype, but these Delza episodes are all great and really show off why the series has such a strong legacy.

I honestly didn't care much for Stronger's earlier episodes, but the later part of the Black Satan era and all of the Delza Army arc have been really great. At some point I plan to go back and watch the whole show without long gaps to re-evaluate the early episodes. |

I'm a big fan of the wing design he has going overall. So neat!

Am I the only one who likes Drake's design?

I don't dislike his design. I like Sasword better.

EDIT: What the heck happened there?

But while Drake's character has problems, I never held design as one of them. |
