I know what you mean. From what I've seen on his blog, the girl customs are usually made from Hime ShinkenRed.

Well, from the looks of it, a LOT of the males use Shinken Red as a base. I can understand your argument for the female figures though. There are some with a blue base though. It doesn't seem like he's made too many females and such because they're more expensive to get. A lot of people seem to be using Shinken Reds as a base when making custom figuarts.

But whose to say that most of them aren't just Shinken Red and Gold's that are collecting dust on some TRU's across the US?

Well, the point is if they're collecting dust over here, they're doing the same over there.

Certain ones, I mean. Like Shinken Red.

A bit out of the loop with the current on-going customs convo...But I would like advice, so before I wasn't able to get my beloved SH Gokai silver and with the money returned, I was thinking of going all out on Kamen Rider Ryuki & Drag Redder/Dragon Knight, I really wanna get a bang for my buck on my first SH Figuarts and other recommended figuarts? I should know about for good enough reasonable price, I'm mainly going for all the Kamen Rider Dragon Knight series as well as most of the Super Sentai figs.

Because Akiba Blue and Akiba Yellow have different body sculpts. Much different body sculpts.

Looks like I will indeed be adding Ryuki and Dragredder to my collection, gotta call it quits after that though. It'll round out my main riders for each of my favorite seasons of the series, and he'll go quite nicely with everyone else I have.

Also, most of these were done before the Akiba's came out. I can't tell you which ones, but I remember seeing this blog with a lot of these done last year, long before Akiba Figuarts came out.

Your logic is sound, but I imagine that once you start working with a certain figure's shape, the process becomes easier to take apart, clean, sculpt, mold, paint, etc.

Princess Shinken Reds' are abundant and cheap. No reason to bothered by this guy making awesome customs for himself. I'm sure there have been more than a few Shinken Yellows/Pinks and Gokai Yellows/Pinks sacrificed in the name of his cause, but not enough to narrow the market of available ones.

I picked up my first Kamen Rider baddie figuart, Nasca Dopant and man, it is a beauty. Looking at the sculpt and detail combined with the impressive amount of articulation is a huge plus. The sculpt looks so good if feels...like NECA level. The plastic did feel a little different but it was pretty cool

Felt the same way when I got my Scorpion Zodiart. The sculpt and paint detail is beyond fantastic, it's insanely beautiful to look at.

Yeah. Motivated to look up Weather Dopant now. Hopefully for around a similar price.

While I can't speak for Claydoll, I can say that Weather and both Nazcas are pretty fantastic figures.

Only problem with Weather is that his coat tails sometimes gets in the way of posing. But I highly recommend picking them up

To be fair though, I can see why Terror ended up as an SHF Zero

Considering his huge head dress that he has, it probably would've caused major issues putting that thing on a balljoint.

Taboo too, considering that she has no legs to speak of.

Yeah, Smilodon is way too dynamic to have only been released as a glorified statue.

I still think Terror could have worked, I mean I get why they didn't try, but I think it could have worked still.

And yeah, Taboo is the only one I really think was the correct choice for a Figuarts Zero.

While I wasn't really a fan of the OOO series, I truly appreciated the Greeed designs. I especially like Kazari and Mezool. I might have found my new addiction. Rider Monster baddies...

It was probably due to the overall size Smilodon was. It had a big upper body which I think was beyond the capacity of the designers at the time. Sure we now have comparable stuff like Leo Zodiarts but Smilodon was probably way too design/engineering heavy for them to figure out a acceptable price point.

just saw season 1 akiba red on ami ami still in stock and the title says first realse bouns as well i dunno do i trust that and get akiba red due to i love the suit desins and then get season 2 blue and yellow

Anyone have any ideas on why the paint on Wild Tiger's upper thigh might have suddenly started chipping? I haven't really handled the guy in months; he's just been sitting on my shelf in the same pose. Then I picked him up today to change that pose, and a few flakes came off of what I'm assuming is gray paint over the translucent green plastic. It's only the back and inner thigh, so not anything noticeable, but it's still a little worrisome.

Went crazy on the mooks... 1 on AmiAmi then 3 on HLJ. Need enemies for my Showa figuarts to fight.

BTW I got Riderman in finally... still not a huge fan of the design but WOW what a great figure. If you're on the fence, get him. Really great articulation all around. Neck has tons of movements, bicep swivels, his ab joint is the most moveable I've seen. Also due to his interchangeable hands he has a swivel along his forearm at the glove line. And he has the articulated pecs(manboobs) like Amazon, but done better imo.

Only annoying thing is his ankles, which are the typical lame Showa figuart ankles.
