You just need to be aware of End of Evangelion right now, which is an alternative ending to the series. 1.11 is the first in a series of remakes/imaginings.

I've never really been into anime or manga. I subscribed to Shonen Jump but that was mostly for Yugioh cards. i tried reading the beginning of Naruto and started reading Psyren along with the first Volume of Bakuman. I did get 12 volumes into Beet. I've seen only DBZ up to King Cold, Yugioh at parts, and High school of the dead. So what would be a good place to start? Gundam?

If you are looking for Real Robot action, then yeah the gundam series are a good choice, but the first thing you have to ask yourself, is which genre of anime/manga are you interested in watching.
