They are really trying to make Spider-Man into Iron Man Jr much further than I thought. Looks like I will be skipping this one for sure.

Don't entirely blame you as that's easily the biggest criticism about MCU's take on Spiderman.

The more I think about Endgame, the more I realize the Russo brothers are kind of crap when it comes to writing women. Is this a trend for the big crossover movies or something?

I think it's kind of an endemic problem with action movies as a whole right now; certainly not something unique to the MCU or even the Russos' work in the MCU (remember the Natasha/Bruce romance in Age of Ultron?)

Hence why I asked if it was a trend, It's REALLY noticeable here though to me First of all, the scene where all the girls get together in the climax. Barely anyone there has interacted with one another, the only ones that interacted with characters outside their origin movies were Carol and Nebula, which was THIS movie. Hell, Shuri, a fan favourite from the most successful solo MCU movie to date, doesn't even get a single sentence of dialogue. Then there's Natasha's death because of more "women who can't get pregnant are failures" subtext carried over from Whedon. It's especially bad here as she sacrifices herself for Hawkeye's family which implies "You only have value if you can have kids". Especially as the Russos revealed that they wanted to have her look after kids who got orphaned during the Snap. Widow somehow got popular, surely you can have her be more than fertility angst? Also they got rid of a shot of Tony giving Peter a kiss on the cheek after he got unsnapped and that fucking sucks, especially when they're trying to get credit for 'acknowledging' LGBT stuff by having one of the directors have a few easy to edit sentences at the beginning of the movie

I rented Captain Marvel off of Amazon and haven't watch it yet. I do want to watch it to see if the movie is as bad as people make it out to be.

It's not really bad at all.
It's just behind the scenes bullshit that has people taking out their anger on the film itself.
...And Brie Larson's acting is a bit too dry. But Samuel L Jackson is great.

I rewatch Into the Spiderverse and I still enjoy it. I end up watching it with my cousin's three year old son and he enjoy it. He said Spider-Ham was his favorite out of the other Spider-Mans.

Taika Waititi will direct Thor 4

I'm kinda lukewarm about a Thor 4 to be frank. I didn't really care for Ragnarok, and thought folding him into the GoTG franchise would be the boost a third film would need.

I thought each hero would get their own trilogy. Avengers got a 4th movie because they originally plan to have Infinity War to be a two part movie.

If I recall, Gunn had completed the GOTG script last year, with the film being put off due to the drama surrounding him and then letting him finish Suicide Squad before GOTG3.
If they do use the original script, I would highly doubt Thor would've been a part of it.

As for Thor 4, I'm on board. Thor is a character I really love, both on screen and in comics. He's a larger than life character, but he's massively toned down in the Avengers films, so more of him, for me, is always a good thing.
Also, any chance for Beta Ray Bill to be done is a good thing :lol

How about this? They introduce Bill in GOTG3 and Thor 4 becomes Bill and Thor's Excellent Adventure complete with Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves cameo. :lolol

I love Thor from the comics and the EMH cartoon as well, but always found his MCU incarnation lacking. On one hand, I understand why Waititi and co. decided to go with a more offbeat, humorous take on the character. The first two "serious" Thor films were pretty meh, and Hemsworth's charisma would be wasted on a straight-faced hero. The general public's reception to Ragnarok was also largely positive.

But for me, joke-cracking played-for-laughs Thor is just not my personal cup of tea. I don't mind a fourth film by Waititi, but I'm not clamoring for it either.

But yeah, I loved Ragnarok (Top 3 Marvel films for me, I'm a comedy kind of person), so Watiti being back for Thor 4, as well as the fact we're actually getting Thor 4 and GOTG 3 is great. I love Thor, so more of him works perfectly for me.

So MCU Phase 4... *mind blown*

Also Avengers finally did it.

Only one of the confirmed movies I'm particularly excited about is Love and Thunder which is super surreal considering the general opinion on MCU Thor 3 years ago. Nice to see Natalie Portman back again as Ike Perlmutter pissed her off before Feige got full MCU control. Jane Thor should be good too

Ha! I knew the Mandarin would be the big bad for Shang-Chi. Glad they're gonna do one of Marvel's most underrated villains right this time.

Also, Zemo better have a purple condom on his face when he returns in the Falcon/Winter Soldier show.

I look forward to seeing Shang Chi because having an Asian superhero movie is long over due. I'm iffy on Blade because I'm worried that they will make it PG-13 if Blade is going to be a movie and Blade is one of those characters that needs to be R rated to work based on the themes and aesthetics of the character.

Everything else I'm meh on because I feel like we have too many spin off shows and I think some characters probably able to hold their own weight on their own.

As someone who's only experience with Blade was the 90's Spiderman cartoon (back when he was depicted as white for the record), I feel inclined to agree as the new Blade's performance as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage really sold me on how good Mahershala Ali was in this kind of setting. I remember Bob Igor saying that R rated movies would be considered after the success of Deadpool which would give hope, but there's also the fact Disney wants toys and despite Spawn, Robocop, Alien and many more franchises proving otherwise, they seem to believe you can't make toys for more mature franchises despite the contrary being proven

They didn't announce a release date for Black Panther 2, Guardians of Galaxy 3 and Spider-Man Home 3 oddly enough.

Black Panther 2 is still in development, GotG3 is delayed until Gunn finishes Suicide Squad and Spidey 3... is planned, that's all we know of it. I believe Feige said all the movies and shows announced was all of Phase 4 too

There is also the D23 event to look forward to I guess for further reveals. Even so most I expect post SDCC 2019 is maybe a short teaser of Black Widow and some Disney+ Marvel shows and further casting reveals or concept art of the other projects announced at SDCC 2019.

So we can only get a Fat Thor figure if we buy a whole set of Marvel Legends figures. WHAT.

It would be hilarious (and hugely problematic) if the BAF was actually marketed as "Fat Thor." I have to admit, it's an extremely intelligent marketing strategy move to make him the BAF though.
