That being said, if one treats Sentai as an overarching continuity, then the answer can get a little weird. The Engines of Go-Onger were shown to be alive in Gokaiger and that likely extends to all of the series "Mecha". When Ninjaman appeared in Gokaiger, he was surprised that he hadn't been released on time, but Gai said the Legend War was the reason. When Ninjaman left them, he decided to visit his Masters, suggesting that they might be alive albeit de-powered, but that's speculation. The 199, Go-Busters VS. Gokaiger, and Kyoryuger VS. Go-Busters suggest the existence of duplicates and Gokai Changes. Space Squad suggests that DekaWing Robo is still available for combat, and since that follows Dekaranger 10 Years Ago, Dekaranger Robo and DekaBike Robo are also available for combat. It's known that there is some behind-the-scenes material which suggests that most Sentai Mecha were destroyed, but exactly which Mecha is unclear. As far as the Gaoranger Power Animals are concerned, they all died once in their own series, so I don't know if a possible demise by Zangyack is permanent. Magiranger become their "Mecha", so if the team lives, so does MagiKing and MagiLegend. Gekiranger "Mecha" are extensions of sorts of the team, so GekiTouja and GekiFire are probably fine. The Gosei Headders were the 'Ultimate Power' of Goseiger and can recreate Gosei Great when used by the their team. Dairanger and Gingaman have gaps as to whether their 'Living Mecha' are still around or have to be recreated! Best I got at the moment. |

And while not exactly a butterfly, MagiFairy is technically one. |

I recently came across a comment (not on any Tokunation Thread) which suggests an interesting rumor (with no supporting evidence): Adjutant Booba of Changeman served as inspiration for...Predator!?
The OG Predator was a lizard-like suit which was replaced by the version that fought Arnold's character in the finished version. There are some design similarities between Booba and Predator, and since Changeman was released in 1985, that would also lend some degree of chronological credence since Predator was released in '87. Is there any genuine validity to this? Did someone involved in the Predator design (or re-design) crew visit Japan and see Changeman? |
Toei should take a break with excessive members.

I'd like to see a humanoid mecha based on Hercules and Auriga constellations.

Did EVERY writer/producer/concept artist who worked on classic '80s Sci-Fi visit Japan!? If even heard (but never confirmed) that George Lucas based Darth Vader off of Hakaider from Kikaider! |

Robocop being inspired by Gavan was recently proven false. This blogger got in contact with some of the people who work on the movie and they mention that they never heard of Gavan when working on the movie. Read the full story here http://sidelongglancesofapigeonkicke...t-so-fast.html |
Which are your favorite group of Sentai grunts?
|
I swear this isn't name bias, but I love the Kuros.
https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20180130210609 Stylish, beautiful; a much more complete design than clearly-just-spandex-with-bits-stuck-on yet just as wonderfully comedic as ever. |

My favorite Super Sentai Grunts/Foot Soldiers would be Golems from ZyuRanger. Let's see if they'll reappear again for the 45th Super Sentai Annviersary next year (2021) once this COVID-19 Pandemic is over.

After re-watching Shinkenger VS. Go-Onger, a thought arose: Why does Go-On Red drive on the side of the car which is Western proper, but not Japanese proper?
This isn't the first instance in Sentai of this. When the Space Cars arrived in Carranger, Red Racer used his partner car the same way. |
Sadly I'm guessing they were thinking of the US footage. The UK is also one of the rare left-driving countries!

If Kyuranger was created by Bandai america input, should Hasbro do the same ?

Are the lyrics for songs accurate on the Wiki/Fandom?
Both the romanized lyrics and the English language translation? If some are of a questionable or semi-accurate translation, is there a better resource? |
If we split the Heisei era Super Sentai like Kamen Rider by having a "Heisei" and "Neo-Heisei", how would you do it?
|
I don't know, I suppose all I can think of off the top of my head would be either starting with Goseiger because it was the start of the 2010s or maybe splitting Shinkenger some point when it got less episodic.

Phase 1 is the beginning, they started trying things they have not done during the 70s and most of the 80s dabbling with newer concepts such as narrative style in Jetman, motifs such as dinosaurs, ninjas, electronics, rescue, and time, etc. new team dynamics such as a team of high schoolers, fantasy teams, and siblings, and also established the tsuika senshi and bangai senshi. Phase 2 is where technology evolved production-wise such as the use of HD and more CGI. They also tried out more new motifs such as police, magicians, treasure hunters, samurais, angels, and pirates. And heavy use of auxiliary combinations were made as well starting with Gaoranger, as well as big cluttered combinations such as Engine-Oh G12. Phase 3 is where more new attempts were made such as more new ranger colors and sometimes bigger rosters, even more new motifs such as spec-ops/spys, trains, constellations, cops vs robbers, knights. Other new attempts I can think of are more non-human rangers such As Beet J Stag or some of the Kyuranger members, Lupin X and the show he appeared in Lupinranger VS Patranger. I probably have missed a few details here and there but right off the top of my head this is why I would divide them into phases. |
Are there any good movies or specials involving Zyuranger? I'm feeling a bit nostalgic for the series, but I kind of want something I haven't seen yet. For example...if the same thing happened with DBZ, I could just pick one of the movies or OVAs I haven't seen yet. Any suggestions? (I've already seen the Kyoryuger/Go-Busters movie)

There is also a weird Dino Video which acts almost like a "Break The 4th Wall" bookend involving a talking puppet! I only bothered to see it once. TyrannoRanger Geki has a significant guest role in Kyoryuger VS. Go-Busters, which was the high mark of an All-Dino Sentai crossover and made before Ryusoulger. The other Zyuranger have voice-over cameos only. Burai is not mentioned. The actor who played Geki also has a starring role in Kamen Rider J as the protagonist. J was one of the few Rider entries of the '90s and is basically just a movie. No Zyuranger references other than same actor, but still. |
I suppose there's also always Akibaranger's 'Powerful Rangers'
|
I mean, you could grab a Famicom emulator and play the Zyuranger game :lol
|
I sympathise because I always find it a downer how sometimes once you finish a show that's basically it, especially for those 2000s Kamen Rider shows where you get virtually no indication of what happened after :(

I'm most familiar with the Jetman - Timeranger era of Sentai, followed by Gokaiger - current...but what about the stuff in the middle? What's good?
Gekiranger appears to be the fan favorite, and I've heard it's influenced by Hong Kong action films, so I'm definitely interested in that. I've heard good things about Dekaranger and Abaranger as well. What about the rest? Boukenger and Go-Onger both look intriguing. Quote:

Well I am of course the ultimate Boukenger fan and it was my favourite sentai for a very long time, although I would of course also put Geki/Shinken very high in terms of that period. Dekaranger is also good but it is what it is really, has some very good moments if you can tolerate Ban.

So here's another question, which series does the Chinese theme better, Gekiranger or Dairanger? |
