Sentai playing the safe is the only reason its even on the air right now. They tried to do something new and different with Go-Busters and it failed hard. Now they are "playing it safe" so they can start building a new audience.

You mean the Telebi-kun special? Yeah, that one was subbed by both TV-Nihon and Over-Time already.

I don't know if an apocalyptic show is something that Japanese children are going to cling to. Look at the history of the country and how terribly Go-Busters did. Emphasizing things like bravery and imagination over avenging your parents that were killed by a virus when you were a child on Christmas Eve are going to do better with children and their parents.

Bright and happy are the things that are going to sale. I wouldn't even be surprised if we don't see another black ranger until after next year; if we couldn't get one with a ninja sentai, then they may be moving away from using that color for anything other than the bad guys.

Bright, colorful, loud, and exciting are the way things are right now. Nothing wrong with it.

Well, the Black ranger point sounds kinda weird, because we already had black rangers in lighthearted series like Go-Onger or Goseiger (even with the Goseiger Ending theme being about rainbows) and just a reminder: Kyoryuger had a black team member. On the other side a dark show like Go-Busters only had bright colors, so we could have a black member whenever the designers want to.

Nah thats really not the reason at all.

Go-Busters didnt fail with kids because it was "dark". Remember that shows like Shinkenger and Gekiranger were also pretty dark for recent sentais and also dealt with the death of parents and those shows didnt bomb as hard as Go-Busters did.

The problem Go-Busters had was that just like Ohranger back in the 90s just became too real. Go-Busters aired one year after one of the most devastating earthquakes japan ever witnessed. So the creators wanted to do a show that would give the japanese and most of all the children strength to go on. Problem though is alot of children has lost a parent or both parents during the earthquake and even if the show had good intentions no five year old wants to be remembere every sunday morning when they watch Sentai that there parents are gone and will never be coming back.
Go-Busters didnt just have low ratings it had extremely low ratings with kids and this more than likely stems from this. Kids didnt like Go-Busters because it constantly remined them of their parents being dead.

And yeah the black Ranger thing has nothing to do with it. We had a black Ranger in Kyoryuger and that show was bright and colorful to the extreme.

Mentioning the history of the country includes the earthquake. That was a dim time for Japan; I visited there a few months after it happened (was living in Korea at the time) and every person I talked to mentioned the earthquake and the country's recovery. The dark theme I mentioned was the fact that the main rangers lost their parents. I think we agree that the backstory for the show was too real. The same thing happened to Ohranger, as you mentioned.

And I totally forgot about Kyoryu Black...so my bad on that.

ToQ Zed is real, lol. Coming in the V-Cinema

How Zed become ToQger? I bet it must be alternate timeline where Zed become ToQger instead Emperor of Darkness similar to Go-Busters V-Cinema where Messiah was never existed and have Go-Busters become Animal Sentai!

I cannot wait for this! It sucks that it took them to the V-Cinema after the show to get the 7th color of the Rainbow, but happy it's Zed. =)

I'm thinking that a new exclusive ranger in the V-Cinema might become a thing now with Kyoryu Navy last year, and the others from the Go-Busters one.
