Did anyone felt that even though Juney was a typical cliche "I want moar power because my friend is better" type of character that he was a better fitted rival than Wilfred?

I agree, and I also agree that the female Mejin feels added in. I did say that if she had her own battles on the show or more of a background or something, then she would feel much more important.

To be fair, most side characters feel like they're just to tie the main characters together. This'll garner hate, but what about Gyanko?

She has a great personality, but all she is really in the series for is to tie herself to the first season (her brother), tie Sekai and Fumina together because of her crush on Sekai, and even after that for the past what, 10 or so episodes she hasn't done anything. She appeared in the crowd to cheer them, yeah, but that's about it.

Same could be said for a lot of the people involved. Heck, I don't even remember the girl's name who piloted the V-Gundam/ Sword Impulse custom and I bet most others in here can't either without looking it up. Yet she was a part of one of their biggest fights up until this last one.

I feel Gyanko can slide ahead a bit in the character department because we saw her interact the characters in other episodes.

I did think it was cute when they flaunted over straight build pilot's little brother.

I meant the girl that was on the same team with the Mega Shiki. We remember that pilot and the pilot of the Flier in the team, but the third member is completely unknown except for that she fought with them.

Yeah, and no one knows her name. lol. It's like Lucas' partners. They were just slapped in because he needed some for plot. I think there was only one random side character where we got to know the other pilots, and that was the guy with the Destiny Gundam. His partners got their own side story and even then it was only because they wanted to help his little brother get better.

I do, it's Yomi. Didn't even have to look it up. I don't disagree with your point though. The show tried to build up a lot of one off characters that just disappear after their fight. Heck, I don't remember the boxer's name because I considered him a one off character and then he kept showing up. Not that I dislike the boxer, I just didn't expect to see him again.

To be fair though, the first season did do that a lot too

I'm watching the last ep of G-Reco.
I kind of have no f#cking clue what's going on.

But most of the key players had prior appearances, like Fellini, Mao and Yuuki.
Whereas in Try all the finalists except for Sakai where introduced halfways through the show at best, meaning they had nowhere as much character.

I think we can all agree that Try could've done much better in the character building department, but it could also be chalked up to the amount of episodes they had to work with.

If they had more, I think we would have at least had more information on everyone,even the smaller players.

I enjoyed Try, and some of my favorite suits are in it. I love the Denial (obviously) and to see the Full Cloth in an actual animated series, even if it was a model kit.....wow.

yeah, but we had Kiririn, Fellini, Aila, and so many other characters that got to be fleshed out.

it's because every opponent was a single character that could have enough time to develop at their own pace.

the opponents in Try are 3x as big at least so there's a lot less time to go in them.

I've only seen a few drops of Recon G, but it is not my thing. RIP in Gundam, Gundam.

Hopefully the next Gundam show will be cool. In the meantime I'm watching 08th MS team, and have G Gundam and the last eps of Turn A on hold until I get the models. It's a hard wait, though, and I kinda want to get EW Deathscythe Hell and HGFC Shining off Mandarake.

At least Origin is happening, that first OVA was incredible.

Honestly, I think Sunrise should just spend the next few years adapting already existing nonanimated stuff, because that at least guarantees an attempt at qulaity for the mainline shows.

I'd be okay with Sunrise doing a 50 episode SEED Astray series if that means I don't have to deal with BS like AGE or G-reco for a year.

I say they should just make an anime of Crossbone.

Bandai keeps giving it support with figures, models and the full cloth being in Try, Sunrise should just make an anime already.

I agree with the crossbone anime, but what would they sell considering most of the MS got kit treatments unless you wanna give Crossbne a 2.0 MG update which it really needs.

I'd be down for another G Gundam esque show. Haven't made it past episode 1 of G but I like how far it deviated from the standard Gundam story. And considering I tend to like either the more serious Gundam shows or the ones far removed from the regular concept than yeah...gimme more mecha Mortal Kombat.

Like you said the Crossbone MG needs a redo, and that mold gives us the X-1, X-2, X-3, Ghost and Quint.

Besides, there are tons of suits to do, like Quavarze and the rest of the Death Gale squadron, the Bataras or heck, the Amakusa, it's a mobile suit loaded with all the battle info of the original Gundam's core fighter, it's awesome.

You just want to see the muramasa blaster in action. :p
