The writer for the upcoming Black Widow Movie has expressed her unique approach to Superhero Movies.
I'm not certain I fully understand, but in terms of Black Widow, I'll reserve judgement until I see the final product. https://www.inverse.com/article/5814...ow-mcu-phase-4 |
Cool, I'll see if it's alright when it comes out. It's a shame that the market right now is just so oversaturated with Marvel movies alone
|
They didn't announce anything for Deadpool 3. Makes me wonder what is going on with Deadpool and the X-Force movie?
|
If I recall, didn't Ryan Reynolds have no interest in the X-Force solo film?

Any good Marvel fansites to speak of? Particularly ones that don't involve a Wiki (or "Fandom" as they go by now)!
|
So is the MCU Fantastic 4 cast being announced this year at that D23 event thingy?

Disney/Sony Spider-Man deal terminated
Plan X: Disney buys Sony and gains total control of Spider-Man. |

Yeah, I'm taking this as good news and hope it starts a trend. While I like some of Disney's recent products, a monopoly on the entertainment industry by a single company to this degree is ultimately bad for art and can only cause more problems as time goes on.
|
Yeah, Sony's done the smart thing here. Everything ending up under one roof is good in some ways, but when that roof is Disney, I'm not excited by the prospect.

Honestly Sony picked the path that actually gets them less money. From what i can read they’re currently financing everything from production to marketing, and getting a massive share of the profits. Disney wanted to split it all 50/50, including production costs. Which really seems like a net win.
And frankly Disney should have the rights to spider-man, it’s absolutely asinine they don’t. Like I don’t want to see them get anything else from Sony, but seriously, Marvel should absolutely have the rights to their own friggin characters. |
I knew that this was going to happen after their 5 picture deal ended. You had many people that felt like this was going to happen since Disney does not own the movie rights to Spider-Man.

As long as they get Spider-Man back period I’ll be happy too.

I want to keep Spider-Man into the MCU because he has an ongoing story that involves Disney characters, so...Yeah...
|
My issue here is that Disney is the greedy one yet everyone ia angry at Sony for not wanting a bad deal
|
I think people are mad at Sony because Spidey was being set up as a major player for the MCU's next phase, and now it's suddenly and abruptly over.

And you know what? My life doesn't depend on whether or not the next Spiderman film is good. I survived SpiderMan 3, back in the day, and there's still tonnes of superhero films coming out. |

There's pros and cons to this situation. Con, Spidey's story in the MCU just abruptly ends on a cliffhanger. Pro, no more Iron Boy Jr in the MCU. Disney definitely can buy the rights if they want to. They've got the money. I'd rather they do that than buy Sony in its entirety. |

But I'm honestly not worried as they still have the same staff planned for the 2 other movies that were contracted so we'll likely still see some good Spidey movies, not to mention the MCU did so well without needing their biggest name so this won't hurt too bad |

If Sony is the one who releases Spider-Man, and Disney's profits are based on first day sales, wouldn't that be Sony screaming "More money"?
|
It's not wise for Sony to pull out now. Finish telling the story with Disney and then do whatever they want with Spider-Man. Now I am not invested in either Sony's Spider-verse or the MCU. The films on the MCU slate for phase 4 do not interest me at all whatsoever. The only thing that would have kept me invested is Spider-Man in the MCU. Hollywood is mostly Disney now, with most if not all films being morally bankrupt and all about greed. I think I am going to stick with tokusatsu to satisfy my superhero thirst, and go back to watching obscure foreign films for other non-active entertainment. At least those still retain creative integrity.

Inb4 Spider-Man gets suck into another universe for his next movie. It can explain how he can crossover with Venom for a future movie.

At this rate, they will probably reboot Spider-Man again with a teenage Peter Parker. It is going to be hard to do another movie with Tom Holland without referencing anything from the MCU. Also, the MCU is going to have hard time making any references to Spider-Man for future movies.

I would like to see a 2099 movie or series as well. I'm tired of Peter Parker to be honest which is one of the reasons why I like Into the Spiderverse. How many times can they can reboot Peter Parker without it being stale and repetitive?
|
It's one of the many reasons I liked Spiderverse too. Peter Parker's been done so many times so now - his ORIGIN story has been done so many times by now - that him being the central young upstart feels wrong now.
But as the predecessor? The mentor? The one to pass the torch? That feels perfect. What I'm saying is. Peter Parker should be Spiderman's Kamen Rider Ichigo. |
