How well is Kiramager doing in ratings/sales compared to previous seasons?

Perhaps the economy was affected by COVID-19 Pandemic. About the ratings and toy sales, I give to both of them a "very, very low" grade due to the virus. Of course, the parents don't want their kids to be inflicted by the coronavirus.

Re-watching the first episode of Gorenger left me with a few questions:

- Did they ever explain in the series how or when all five received their suits?

- Mido (Green) trips Ki (Yellow) up with a joke, leaving Ki to ask everyone until he finally gets an answer from a mook. I must be missing the obvious, cause I didn't get it. Can someone please explain it?

- Why does Variblune have fangs? They serve no real purpose!

- Why does the Black Cross Fuhrer look like a blatant KKK hood and robe!? Granted, the Great Leader of Gel-Shocker had a similar appearance in Kamen Rider (1971), but it's less subtle here!

They expect to make 5.5 billion JPY in domestic toy sales for Kiramager. So far during the 1st Quarter they made 1.3 billion JPY and expect to make a total of 2.5 billion JPY by the end of 2nd Quarter.

People have online shopping for that. They can buy stuff with one click of a button and have it at their house by tomorrow with Amazon Prime. Not going to toy stores and other major retail places is not a issue.

I started watching Nin yesterday and am 3 in on the series.

I was laughing my rump off a bit at the first 2.

When does Ninja Green show up in this? Also when will I see Ninja Gold? Ninja Steel had Gold in at #09. So I was curious as Nin has 50.

I think that Green warrior is only in that Ninnin Girls VS Boys movie unfortunately, plus I'm trying not to watch that being as it looks like I wouldn't like it, I just think gender inequalities whoever it's against should be addressed individually rather than just ''have a go at everyone''!

Yeah Green is vcin exclusive, she’s not in the series nor the summer or teamup movies.

I kinda like the Midoninger suit even if the helmet is a repaint of Akaninger's.

Midoninger is probably my favourite aside from Starninjer; the green really brings things together!

My switch in point has been To Quger and as I own up to Ryusoul on DVD when can I expect to see a full set for the 2020 series? We're 20 weeks in so far so if it goes like Ryusoul for full set when would 2020 release? I have the sets out of Mylasia so I watch the series there on disk.

Well, when did the Ryusoulger set you own release?

Not too sure when they released it but we're 20 in on this year's set.

I'm 8 in on To Quger and 4 in on Nin plus the 40th has shipped.

I'm watching both together before the 40th comes in.

I'm liking To Quger and the Ninja series. It's been nuts but the current 6 have been good so far. (Including the incoming animal series.) Lupin Pat was strong after the 1st one at the start which was unexpected. Also liking Kyo which got us Dino Charge. (Saw 9 of them so far on stream.)

So far the 2010 shows have been good. Need to also finish up Go Busters at some point. I have the 90s shows thanks to Shout.

Any news on the 45th Anniversary of the Super Sentai Series? Will Touru Furuya voiced AkaRed again? Will the 3 Dinosaur Super Sentai (ZyuRanger, AbaRanger and Kyoryuger) return after they're missing in action in the Super Sentai Strongest Battle and in Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger Vs. LupinRanger Vs. PatRanger? Will all of the Super Sentai Teams that were disappeared in the Super Sentai Strongest Battle return next year? Will Rita escape from prison and wants vendetta/revenge against the Ryusoulgers, particularly Towa/RyusoulGreen and Bamba/RyusoulBlack (she never faced the Kiramagers or the 2021 Super Sentai Team yet)? What will be the fate of the Earth, the Space, the Galaxy and the Universe be in 2021 when the 45th Super Sentai Team is around the corner? Curse that COVID-19 that ruined the Toei productions!!! Hope and pray it won't happen again next year!

Currently watching Magi on DVD which I like better than Mystic Force. Also the episodes adapted as Power Rangers Dino Thunder which I like better than Dino Thunder.

Too bad Shout lost release rights before this came up.

I sourced the next 3 after Hurri through a company in Mylasia recently to try to catch up. Also To Quger - Ryusoul.

I do like Magiranger better than Mystic Force but sorry to be harsh, I'm afraid neither show is a massive standout year in my book, although admittedly it is a bit similar with Gaoranger and Wild Force and Gaoranger is a surprisingly good show to be fair!

So what makes you like a Sentai?

Is it the usual reasons like characters, plot, designs, etc?

For me I think I have a weird taste. I tend to like Sentai that sit closer to each end of the tone-spectrum.

By that I mean I dig how serious & realistic shows like Go-Busters are for grounding the whole concept of this genre, but I also enjoy when they go ball-to-the-wall ham like with ToQger & Kiramager since they take advantage of how wacky & out there Toku can be.

Most Sentai in the middle of this range of tone tend to not do it for me, dunno why. But what about y'all?

I'd like to see a sentai with some sort of mythical/real life animals-themed mechas with cybernetic/vehicular-motif just like Ginga Rhinos, Ginga Phoenix and Ginga Bitus from Gingaman.

What's the percentage of the likelihood that Kiramager gets an adaptation, in your guys' opinion?

Pretty low, in all likelihood.

Of the choices currently available? It’s up there. It or Lupat for sure, though the source footage of even the mech fights are unconventional for each. Guess it depends on what next year’s show looks like

When did Sentai start using CGI?

And on a related note, modern mecha/weapons/monsters tend to look more toyetic and sleeker than older suits/props. Does anyone think there's a notable series where it shifts or if its a gradual evolution? Any ideas on what the underlying reasoning could be?

I think they started to use CGI with Gingaman IIRC.

Megaranger has CGi in the henshin sequence, and it has been quite some time since I watched Carranger to know if it had any, but I'd wager Megaranger was the first one. Seemed a good time given the tech theme going on.

EDIT: I might have been mistaken. I was thinking of GoGo V's sequence, but at the same time, it does seem they had a generic CGI stand in body before the suit appears in Megaranger, so technically not wrong, but I mixed the two shows up, whoops.

Yep Guyver Spawn seems to be right since it is the first show to have official CGI credits in the staff roll. Prior shows would have digital effects credits but that probably is stuff like digital compositing and rotoscoping. Although a part of me does wonder if that brief scene in the Megaranger opening clip where everyone is on their cyber sliders in that digital tunnel thingy is CGI or digital compositing.

I've been thinking, based on how the visor of Liner Boy is shaped, I do wonder if the design started as an early draft of a possible support unit for Megaranger but was canned only to be repurposed when they needed something new to sell for GogoV.

Interesting question, but did they have to modify the design in order to allow for combination with Victory Robo or was Victory Robo designed in such a way that it could combine with the (finished) Liner Boy from the onset!?

A potential add-on for either Galaxy Mega or Mega Voyager perhaps?

Gingaman. I will say though that Gaoranger is decent so personal recommendation watch Gingaman first and then watch Gaoranger cause Gaoranger did some cool new things at the time, specifically with the robots.

Well I admit Gingaman is in progress for me but I'm actually leaning towards Gaoranger, even though Gingaman is OK and possibly both shows are on the more average side of things for me I did at least prefer Gaoranger to Wild Force, being as outside of the teamups that was a little bit disappointing IMO especially considering we hadn't had Operation Overdrive or Megaforce back then!

I find Gingaman to be a rather lack luster series. By no means bad, but it really just doesn't have the staying power a lot of other series had.

Who is the director who popularized the filming technique of multiple simultaneous fights while the camera weaves between them?

I know it was someone associated with Super Sentai or Kamen Rider.

Just an opinion, but I feel as though Gingaman was trying to blend the formula of an '80s Toku with the then-recent changes in Sentai during the '90s. However, it didn't fully capture a cohesive amalgamation of the two and we were left with a unique product which fits in no particular category or bubble.

I think what I liked was the setup for Gingaman. They were these chosen warriors yet right off the bat they lose their leader substituting the position with his baby brother and their tribe, the one thing they probably are sworn to protect, gets obliterated leaving them to start with barely nothing and somewhat helpless. And despite all that them being triumphant at the end is what appealed to me.

I can see how the first episode could have vaguely inspired some shows like Zyuohger and Ryusoulger(though I slightly liked Zyuohger's first episode more as there were slight Digimon Adventure vibes) and I admit I did prefer Hyuuga's falling in the rock scene to Mike's, or should I say ''MIIIIIIIIIIIKE!'' :lolol

I like both series but prefer Gaoranger, I really liked the mythology they built up throughout the series and Gao Silver is just cool

Exactly why did they have to give the alternate timeline Kuroin that hair lip mustache in Go-Busters Returns? Suffice it to say, that "style" has negative historical connotations (even if that wasn't the intent)!
