Well i had to use the "its for my sister" excuse today for my first mlp purchase, and i prefer having a cover up for stuff like this.

Meanwhile, I walked straight to the counter holding 2 plushes and a Twilight/Dash 2 pack :lol

I guess after getting over a hundred figures, it kind of stops being embarrassing :lol

How convienient, i got that same 2 pack today.I was really hoping they would have the rarity/luna set.

I mainly picked it up because I didn't like the Princess Twilight figure included with the castle set.
And I got that one too a couple months back thanks to Sideswipe.

I suck up my pride and just tell the truth. :lol There was once the Walmart lady (a few years back) asked me if the Pinkie Pie was for my sister, I said, nope, it's for me.

Then she went on about "Okaaaay, I'm not judging. My brother is obsessed with Star Wars and we really don't know what to do with him..."

And she went on and I'm thinking "Lady, please stop now."

Imagining him singing that in his baritone voice is all the better :lol

Strangely enough, despite buying so many pony toys, my most awkward in store moment was buying a Transformers toy. The cashier was one of those no nonsense old men, so when he asked if I was getting it for someone else, and when I responded "It's for me" he went on a never ending spiel about how I'm an adult and I need to not buy kiddy toys and how I needed to grow up and start being a man.

3 years later and most of my online monikers now include the word "Princess" somewhere. Guess I showed him :lol

Why on Earth would a store cashier deter you from buying toys? It profits their store after all. This is something I can never understand, how store cashiers have so much to say when we're basically contributing to their salaries.

Eh, adulthood as defined like this is no fun and depressing. If that's what it means to be mature, count me out. Luckily that's not what it really is. :)

This guy must be so much fun at Christmas. Berating everyone over the age of 12 if their gifts weren't power tools and planks of wood :lol

I had an uncle like that. Sucks for my cousin, since he's like me in that he loves toys and games :lol

And I just kind of shrugged him off and left the store. I have no idea why he tried to deter me from buying my transformer :lol

I'm so used to people not giving a crap about my buying habits, that my most awkward toy-buying experience actually came from somebody being too enthusiastic about it.

I was buying a 6inch Mumm-Ra when the woman in front of us was all "OMG! it's Mumm-Ra, he looks great! And he's on clearance too? OMG honey you need to check this out!" "Do you collect Thundercats toys? Do you have Lion-O too? I buy*can't remember the line*"
This went on for 10 minutes, thankfully nobody else was on line.

It was odd. :lol

Funny thing is that sometimes people make distinctions. A friend berated me for playing Pokemon and getting some figures (like MLP and Sentai), but yet admires Kamen Rider and SH Figuarts. I told him how hypocritical he was since he watches Kamen Rider and he said it was more mature and for adults or something. Yeah, an adult series has giant toy-like belts. :lol

Another guy online told me about how his friend distinguishes between 2D and 3D animated movies. The CGI ones like How to Train Your Dragon are "mature" while the 2D ones like Princess and the Frog are "for kids" and this is how he justifies watching what he watches.

I'd actually really appreciate such company. It's always fun to see enthusiastic people. :D

That reminds me when I bought my TF Prime Knock Out figure when I visited my brother in Georgia.
The cashier actually recommended me to go and pick up one of their He-Man figures because she was aware that the current He-Man line was going for pretty high prices on the secondary market :lol

It was neato, just that she barely allowed me to talk, and her husband was bored as heck. :lol

I had a friend like that before. He refused to believe me when I told him that the reason KR had so many toys was because it's for the 6-12 demographic. He defended his reasoning with "The kids getting into it were just a byproduct. It's actually a more mature franchise."

And that guy sounds hypocritical. 2D actually tends to be more mature than 3D most of the time.

It was made even funnier in that it was clear she thought toy collecting was dumb. She rolled her eyes, she sighed and scoffed, etc. She even told us that she didn't see why anyone would want the toys. She just apparently knew of the secondary market for those He-Man toys :lol

I think it's the other way around. Adults like us getting into it is the byproduct. Otherwise the mainline would be SH Figuarts and not DX drivers and gimmick figures. :D

And yes, 2D usually is more mature these days because it's become a niche genre. 3D is the rage and the default and because it is so popular it tends to have a greater number of so-called "kiddy" shows.

I still want a Skeletor, but I'll probably never get one, there are higher priorities.

Anyways, calling people childish for buying toys or seeing certain shows is pointless, the boxes clearly say "ages 4 and up" so even if I were 150 years old it'd still be fair game. :lol

Which is why I'm disappointed that Lego actually put an upper limit to their age group!

I once met a cashier at Wal-Mart who recommended Athena's Wink to me after I asked for a brohoof (which he returned in double). That guy was pretty awesome.

I met a cashier in Kmart who nodded his head and said "Nice" when I bought the Canterlot Castle set.
Shame he had so many piercings that I don't think we'd ever be friends :lol

Never had a problem buying MLP stuff, only once did a cashier give us an attitude at Walmart. It was even my niece buying a plush for her friend'a bday. She was 18yrs and the cashier basically told her she had to grow up at some point and that it's not pretty once you grow up. I told her to do her job and cut the small talk. She then rang up the rest of our stuff in complete silence. When I'm by myself, I usually don't make small talk with cashiers. They ask me how my day is, I tell them it's going good and proceed to just go about my day without saying much.
