I'm haven't watched much of Ninninger, but I feel that the reasoning of "It's getting better! I promise!" holds little weight when everyone is viewing it at the same time.
This isn't a case of years old series that people have seen before like Zyuranger, Dairanger, or Goseiger, where "It gets better" is something that many people already know and can attest to. If you feel the series isn't holding your attention or is just a grind to watch weekly, feel free to drop it. If a series isn't interesting the viewer, and watching it seems to be more of a chore, they shouldn't feel shackled and continue watching just because someone else insists they do. As for breaking the mold, internal conflict can be found in many Sentai since Jetman, the most recent that comes to mind being Goseiger. |
you know, I've watched up to episode 10, and I gotta say.
this series is NOT as bad as I've seen a lot of people make it out to be. I'll admit there could be some more episodes on some members. but the max for that is 2. I feel this isn't a show that's not trying to be deep, or trying to be something that stands out. it's a show just trying to be fun. I love what they're doing, and episodes 9 and 10 were really entertaining. and I'm loving Starninger. |
I think the problem many people have with Ninninger is caused by what they expected the show to be. The last three shows (starting with Kyoryuger) were very similar in tone and comedy- basically because it worked in Kyoryu and Toei still wants to play it safe after the whole Go-Busters story.
Many people hoped that Ninninger, due to the very asian designs, would be more like Shinkenger, which many people still consider one of the best Sentai evuurrrrr, because it's dark and... dark!!111! Ehhhh anyway. Lately people have been crying for a different type of Red because many people like stoic characters like ShinkenRed. They consider Daigo, Right and Takaharu the same character type (which isn't true, despite some similarities). Also, many reactions to Toqger have been REALLY bad and people who disliked Toq also often don't like Ninnin. But let's face the facts, guys... this is what Sentai is like these days, at least for now. Either try and give it a chance or stop watching for a while if you can't bear it. |
I think some fans are still reluctant to accept that lighter, more comedic seasons are the norm now. They tried more serious and dark with Go-Busters and they consider that to be a flop (although the ratings were better than now). I think we should not compare the seasons to each other; accept them as a single narrative and find the good and bad that they give us as a standalone show. Also, the expectations should be curbed a little bit, this is a kids' show that comes on at 0730 on Sunday. A time slot like that doesn't usually lend itself to being ultra serious and dark.

Honestly I have no problem with Ninninger, that may or mat not have anything to do with a certain blue and gold japanese cowboy. But its been a fun ride so far. Quote:

Eh, Sentai just isn't holding my attention recently with these shows. This is a kids show, but when a show just isn't entertaining, and it's other entry's were, just to me says that's it's gone down in quality. Heck Dino Charge has been WAY more entertaining to me than the past 2-3 years of Sentai. I guess for now I'll just stick to rider and PR in terms of Toku shows.

There are many people who are still entertained by Ninninger so it CAN entertain people. Just not you. But that doesn't automatically make it bad. |
The only objectively bad one was Sun Vulcan, after all :p

Don't remind me of that one, please xD
Though admitted, Hiba as Vul Eagle sure helped the show improved a bit. But just a bit. |
