I really liked Dragon Knight :(

Dragon Knight was awesome, and the adaptation work was great, up to this day I can't believe Siren was a movie only rider in Ryuuki, she was integrated so well in Dragon Knight.

sooooo, what happened to this? I saw the bunches of shorts they had and it looked like it was realy coming along.

Dragon Night was well written, but it had a very limited target audience. It just sort of took a shot in the dark hoping people would start watching it.

Luckily the MMPR fan film has most of the Power Rangers die-hards for viewership.

Those still relied heavily on humor. The characters were lighthearted but their surroundings were grittier and realistic.

Does it really though? The project as a whole seems like more than a joke. A gritty grim dark reimagining of a fun children's show? It looks more like what Transmorphers is to Transformers than something Power Rangers fans should be excited about.

It doesn't help that the whole project is tainted with a director who's just out for money, not nostalgia or to make a good movie/series in any way, this is just a cash grab for him. He just wants to open doors to a "real" career. The effects while nice enough look to be about on par with straight to DVD movies and the acting seems about the same. And there's every chance in the world this thing will be shut down by Saban once it's noticed. Huge infringement right here. So what is there to make actual Power Rangers fans want to see this thing?

Just was reading some of the discussion about the trailer that was released yesterday (happy birthday to me!) - In general, I love the discussion and the points being made - the overall response across all the web has been great (Over 20,000 views in 24 hours, not too bad) - and we can only hope that continues. Not everyone has enjoyed it though, or thinks the idea still will work - we are keeping tabs on all that though and can hopefully implement some of the feedback as we continue on - I helped edit the trailer and am helping with the edit of the first episode (when I don't work as an actor, I work as an editor - diapers are expensive!), so if you guys have any questions about that process feel free to ask away.

And I go back to NYC in the new year to begin shooting episode 2 (which I won't be editing btw) and we are nearing the VFX, Sound Design, Color Correction & Music Composing stage of the first episode...really good stuff ahead I think.

Wait, back up abit. The director/guy leading this is doing it for the money?? Wha-? Where's it gonna come from??

I'm not a cop, though my paper SPD badge I got from a coloring book says otherwise, but isn't it illegal to make money off of someone else's patented idea?

Cash grab doesn't always directly translate into "I did it for the money". I think what Den-O was trying to say is that the director may only be doing it to get his foot into Hollywood, and is using the Power Rangers to grab the attention and nostalgia of many film industry professions.

Yes but there are loopholes. Hence the title "MMPR" and not "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers".
