Huh. I guess Kylo Ren really does prove the existence of the Skywalker whining gene :p

What does everyone think of the Jar Jar being a Sith theory?

Finally saw Force Awakens tonight, and I thought it was really good.
The movie referenced KOTOR, which is one of my favrioute games of all time and I'm okay with that. |
The movie successfully recaptured the magic lost in the prequel trilogy, while doing a soft re-telling of the original "A New Hope" but in modern times with new characters. None of the returning characters felt forced (save for C3P0 who is literally there for fan-service and nothing else), and the movie while focusing on the search for Luke Skywalker never allows that fact to out-shine the new characters until the very last scene.
I was glued to the screen. Easily my movie of the year because it was fun, it didn't treat its audience like they were stupid, it didn't require you to know everything about Star Wars, and it started a brand new universe for one of the most beloved franchises of all time. |

Definietly thinking about grabbing a Kylo Ren figure now.
Is it better to grab the Black Label series over Figuarts? I do think the Black Label looks more movie accurate, but I've never really had any exposure to that line. |
Quote:
Again, I've never owned a Black Label figure, but that Kylo looks better to me than the Figuarts one, and my experience with Figuarts Star Wars capes/cloaks is not very positive. |

So do you think would win? Kylo Ren vs. Darth Maul?
|
Darth Maul. Kylo Ren is a cool character but hes not a good fighter.

Plus Maul was trained to be an assassin from childhood...
|
Maul was raised to be a living weapon, Sidious' personal assassin and instrument of murder. That Saberstaff isn't just for show; he taught himself how to use it and is still in one piece.
Kylo is neat and seems quite brutal, but a mere Dark Jedi can't hold a candle to a born and bred Sith Warrior. |
Kylo could win. If he's calm he can use the force to his will and mess with Mual's head.
|
Check out my comparison shots in the Everything thread, but no, unless you can get the Figuart for cheap, DO NOT pick it over the Hasbro one. Outside of the light saber, the torn cape piece, and the alternate hands, the Figuarts one is inferior to the Hasbro one.

Here's a question for you Star Wars fans. What does TIE stand for in TIE Fighter?

Since I saw Episode 7 twice now, this is how I would rank the movies from best to worst:
6>5>4>7>3>1>2 I view Attack of the Clones to be the worst and I still haven't seen it since it was released in theaters back in 2002. It was so boring. I love Return of the Jedi since I always love how the movie ended. I always felt like it was a good ending to the original trilogy. |
So I saw episode 7 today, having seen parts of Episode 4 in passing, and knowing the plots of all the other movies due to osmosis. This was a great movie.

Am I the only one who thinks the Black Series Kylo Ren looks better than the SHF?

Watched it today, it was a good movie. It entertained me, I had fun with it. Did it wow me? Nope. Still enjoyed it and I want to see the rest though. It’s definitely better than the prequels, and I don’t hate the prequels as much as most over SW-fans seem to.
The good scenes hit me good enough. Sadly I was spoiled on who Kylo Ren is because some fucktard posted an image on another site I visit with Kylo Ren wearing Queen Amidala’s headdress titled "When he chooses to be more into his grandma" or some shit like that, and I immediately knew that he’s Han and Leia’s kid. Thanks asshole. At least the initial reveal is low key enough that I didn’t feel like it took away a big moment. Because the scene on this bridge is the big moment I didn’t wan’t to have spoiled. Didn’t knew the rest though, and I liked all of it. Especially that Finn wasn’t the focus, got knocked out and Rey got the sword and kicked ass with it. It’s pretty obvious that she’s Luke’s daughter or a clone or some shit like that, there’s no way she isn’t a Skywalker. The clues are too obvious. I enjoyed Kylo Ren, he was badass and imperfect enough to be liked, and they don’t kill him of, he will continue to appear and be stronger in the next movies. The scenes where he destroys stuff around him are really precious for some reason, I liked those a lot. Especially the second one where the two Stormtroopers are like “Not dealing with this shit” and turn around immediately. That was really funny. Captain Phasma was a complete joke though, that’s the only thing I hate about this movie. Jesus Christ, they get a great actress and she doesn't even appear without the helmet? WTF?! The Riot Stormtrooper is cooler than her! What the fuck Disney? The only thing about the plot I didn’t like was what my father pointed out: What happens in this film is too similar to the classic trilogy. Farm kid gets picked off a desert planet, road trip with a smuggler, giant evil space weapon, they destroy it with one pilot flying close up to shoot it, lightsaber duel during the end. Of course it’s not exactly the same and I don’t really hate the fact it borrows so much from the classic formula, but it is rather similar. The background is obviously different with Snoke and stuff, and I am interested to see how this develops. And as a fan of the EU, I can’t help but think that some decisions are downright copied and pasted. Kylo Ren – Darth Caedus anyone? Thank god though that Rey doesn’t appear to be his twin sister, that would’ve been awful. Also, they named him Ben. That’s cool with me because I feared Han would shout “Anakin!” at him. But still… Ben Skywalker comes to mind. But that’s more speculation on my part than anything, the EU is now legends and this is something different. However, if Finn is Lando Calrissian’s son I will shoot myself. Please, please don’t. Quote:

thing is and i been always happy with this is that i happy that they played it safe they wanted to show fans that this is how they be doing star wars showing us they be doing som ething like OT but when i mean some thing like the OT i mean it feel lived in its not full on CGI. now i do think depending on the size i thing snok in proper appearnce not cgi projection like in the film. will be a costumes it looks easy enough to make a costume for him for inperson stuff.

1. Rey seemed to know who she was waiting to come and get her, the novel makes that even more clear than the movie did. After the revelation with Maz, she seems to accept the truth, which is that whoever it was is dead. 2. No one recognised her. Considering Kylo Ren was being trained by Luke, Han and Leia must have still been pretty close to him, so why would neither of them know who she was? They would have at least known her name and I can't see why he'd keep her birth a secret either. 3. Luke and Rey don't recognise each other either, she just hands him the lightsaber. This scene could be read differently, but the novelisation again makes it pretty clear that she's handing it to him as a "plea to the galaxy". There seems to be no familiarity, at least on Rey's part. We've been told that they didn't tell us Rey's surname in the movie for an important reason, but.. 4. If it's Skywalker, then why was the truth about all the stories such a surprise to her? If she's using a fake name to hide her true identity, then it obviously wouldn't need to be a secret to us. 5. Luke was hidden away on a remote planet where no one else in the galaxy could find him. It reflects very badly on him if he abandoned his young daughter alone on a dangerous planet for over a decade while he escapes into safety. Instead, it seems more likely she's connected to some pre-existing character that would have just given away the fact she's a Jedi. It's not completely impossible that she's a Skywalker, but if she is, I think it's more likely that's illegitimately related to Vader and not Luke's daughter. I personally like the idea that she's a Bridger, but I doubt they'd tie the movies into a series most viewers won't know anything about. |
We don’t even know how old she is, that’s the problem. In her vision she saw a Ben Solo in his Kylo Ren gear; she was a kid back then. So that’s before Luke vanished. Couldn’t it be possible that he had Rey later than Han & Leia had Ben? Because Ben was born shortly after the Battle of Endor, 1 year later maybe. So he’s at the end of his 20’s during The Force Awakens, Rey is what? If she was a kid when Luke disappeared, like 10-12 years old, and Luke is 10 years gone, than she would be in her early 20’s. That could work.
If that’s the case it isn’t too implausible to think that Kylo Ren doesn’t recognize Rey because he first saw her in Cloud City, and just briefly. Luke could’ve separated his bonds with Rey and her mother for the best of their child, she lives in Cloud City. Kylo Ren somehow get’s wind of this and wants to kill Rey, but he’s stopped before he can do so and they decide that it’s best to send Rey away like Luke was send away because the Emperor would not rest to get him, in this case Kylo Ren/Snoke wanting to hunt down Rey. It sounds cruel because she was seemingly alone, but I remember seeing that someone was holding her hand in the flashback and I don’t believe it was that scrapper. Maybe she had a guardian who watched from afar, like Ben Kenobi did with Luke but the character isn’t introduced yet. Anyways, Kylo Ren only saw her briefly as a child, so he doesn’t recognize her immediately. Han & Leia knew her as a kid, and after meeting her in the movie it’s pretty obvious that both know who she is but decide not to tell her, because they don’t know if they can even find Luke yet. And another thing: Her memories seem to be sealed away or something. The visions from the force when she touched the lightsaber were new to her, she didn’t remember any of that. I wouldn’t be surprised if Luke somehow sealed her memory so she wouldn’t’ seek her parents out and wait instead. And the novel you keep bringing up mentions how Kylo Ren finally recognizes Rey after she ignites the blue lightsaber and that Luke knows who she is without looking at the lightsaber and that he’s touched to see her. Add that to the whole clues (Grown up on a desert planet, genius pilot, gifted with the force) and I don’t know how someone could think she’s not a Skywalker. Maybe she isn’t Lukes daughter, but she is definitely related to him. She isn’t Ben’s twin sister though, because after Han died Leia would’ve told her. Also: Luke, the man the First Order wants to hunt down more than anything is "safe"? Yeah right. If it wasn’t for Finn & Rey they would’ve found him, without the Resistance maybe even earlier. I don’t know, I don’t really want to say it has to be this way but I would be surprised if she’s just a random child who somehow got into this mess (as a child) and was then left alone for some reason. I wouldn’t hate it, but I just think she’s a Skywalker. It would be cool however if she’s not a Skywalker and the bloodline is only represented by Kylo Ren, while Luke chooses not to take action an instead trains Rey to be the next generation, free of the Skywalker’s past. |

Question: Supposedly Sam Jackson's lightsaber has the words "Bad Mother fucker" written on it, covered up by his hands in the movies. In the actual Star Wars canon, does it say that on Mace Windu's lightsaber?
|
Quote:
He just randomly says it has written "Bad Motherfucker" on the hilt in a talk show or something, we don't know if it's true or if it was just on the prop they gave to him after shooting the scenes. So I would think they engraved that on the hilt after the scenes were done but before giving it to him as a present. And no, it's definitely not canon that Mace Windu has that written on his hilt ;) |

Yup, Maefex is gonna have my money. Kylo and Phasma look great. |
That Phasma look sweet. But I think I pass on Phasma-merchandise, don’t really feel encouraged to buy any after seeing the movie.
Kylo Ren looks great though – the fabric falls exactly like it’s supposed to, much better than the Black-series one. The unmasked head sculpt also isn’t looking too bad. I can’t imagine I’ll use it to display him, but nice to have the option. I don’t know if I’ll buy him though, I wait and see. He’s not supposed to be out until November/December anyways. Oh, and who’s that golden robot? He seems familiar, but I don’t really recognize him. Must be because of the red arm. |
Man that Kylo looks fantastic. Especially with all those accessories as well.
