I would have no problem with more Raiga and Mayuri, but if they do come back the writing needs more focus on character development. The actors and characters are likable, but Makai no Hana really didn't make much effort to actually develop either of them.

Amemiya mentioned about Bikuu's spinoff a couple months ago, but the actual brainstorm was dated back since Makai Senki. He tried to offer Akimoto the role of a tough makai priestess in MK, but it didn't work out at the time.

Raiga and Mayuri may have already filmed the new stuff last year, according to bit and pieces of information from their blogs.

And it is Garo's 10 Anniversary next year.

Anniversary or not, there has been way too much Garo in the last 20 months and none of it all that ground breaking, with the anime being the worst atrocity thus far.

Well Amemiya has guaranteed more Gouraigan in 2016 so there's your break. :)

The Zero miniseries. That one I at least had high expectations for. The cartoon never really appealed to me much.

You will be somewhat surprised by Sharivan and Shaider Next Generation then, if you are planning to watch those in the future. :)

If I can throw in my two cents, I was also heavily disappointed with the Gavan movie, and I enjoyed Sharivan's. Granted, we're not the same person and I don't know what particular parts of the Gavan movie you disliked compared to my list, but let me just say that Kai feels like he had a better character arc than what we've seen of Geki so far (who I don't mind, but the story he was in was week and heavily predictable).

My biggest issues with the Gavan movie really came down to the amount of exposition it had and its length.

With the among of cash, time, and man power to finish all productions for 2 1-hour long shows (Sharivan and Shaider OVs) within 3 weeks I'll say that is pretty damn good.
As for story I won't complain much about them because those are ordered by Sakamoto.

Is it weird that I'm a little bummed to see Rian wearing symmetrical pants?

They changed their hairstyles. I am unsure how to feel about this, they just seem so different now. I mean Ryuga looks like he's actually related to the Saejimas now. Wonder if our Blue Archer will return, or if he's done acting as men in blue suits shooting arrows.

I think it's proof that Keita Amemiya is a leg man.

He's actually directing Gold Storm, right? As far as I recall his only credit on "The One Who Shines in the Darkness" was as "Creator" (was he busy doing Shougeki Gouraigan with Inoue at the time?). Rian wore those asymmetrical pants back then. As soon as Amemiya takes more of a role in this part of the universe, she's in shorts. Maybe I'm reading too much into that.

I'm happy to see Ryuga and Rian back though, as I did like that series, so it's good to see it wasn't a one-off. I'm hoping it's different though. Ryuga's journey especially was of a young inexperienced knight earning the title of Garo, rather than him just fixing the armor, while working through his issues with Burai and bonding with Aguri & Takeru. So I'm expecting a more mature Ryuga this time out.

So... Garo the animation?

It's okay. Started off pretty bad but I've enjoyed the last few episodes. We have a Kaoru now, and that should help make Leon a proper character. Alfonso is still the better protagonist by far, though.

I kinda prefer Leon over Alfonso tbh. The changeover was a fantastic shakeup but since settling into the mantle Alfonso has become a more stereotypical Garo. With Leon it felt like something different.

I LOVED the last episode with the townspeople making the armour though. The anime pulls off one-shot side stories really well.

I agree, at this point I'm a lot more interested on how Leon develops now in the show. And going by the end credit stills it looks like he'll get some new gear.

I'm just waiting for a new head enemy since they just unceremoniously finished off Mendoza and Alfonso is having it a bit easy right now (watch, Mendoza probably isn't fully dead yet, and yet another body part of Messiah is going to be the final enemy. Maybe it'll be her toe this time).

Lara's nice though, but her entire family screams *tragic death flag*

Pretty funky, but oh man that new Ending is so badass I seriously need the full song to that.

I've been enjoying the show, but I feel there was one big misstep. I liked episode 12 (especially once I realized it wasn't the finale), but those final moments with Leon left me feeling the story was going a completely different direction than it has.


In a matter of minutes, Leon lost everything. He lost his self control, his knighthood, his last and only gift from his mother, and even his father's support. To top this off, he was not coping with it, at all. Leon was so messed up at the end of that episode that he attempts to kill himself. So with in mind, why isn't Leon a Horror? This is the single most perfect set up for this to happen and he can be the new main villain trying to kill Alfonso and take back his title. Instead we get more emo drama in a normal life setting (which we've already done with Leon).


Again, I am enjoying the show (way more than the last one). Episode 14 was a really enjoyable one off episode that had Horrors fighting each other. I'm just disappointed they had a great opportunity and didn't take it.

I catched up with the last three episodes. I thought they take a break because it looked like a season finale with the big episode, but hey: They keep going!

So far the episodes have been boring though. This whole „Leon lives land-live“-thing is predictable as hell. Lara will survive at least a bit because the scenes in the ending suggests she's alongside Leon when he has somewhat recovered, but please... it's so obvious her family will be killed by Horrors and the land will be burned down or something.

Alfonso on the other hand, is too perfect. I hate it that they gave him the armor, for one thing because the episode was kinda strong and I don't believe they can follow it up when Leon does get the armor back later, and I hate it when they make us accustomed to a protagonist and then humiliate him in the worst way to present us with a substitute until the real protagonist comes back.

And Leon should be a horror now, as explained by Blade Raider.

Also, did they just wasted a whole episode with the craftsmen building a Mecha-Garo and fighting a bear? Like WTF?

New intro is as horrible and unfitting to the show it represents as the last one, but this is even worse. Like if you blend out the visuals you feel like you're about to watch a cheesy late-night comedy show. Ending rocks though. I feel like they could have switched intro and ending and everything would fit better.

I like to think the thing keeping Leon from becoming a horror is his inner fire. we saw how bright it burned, so I think it'd be next to impossible for him to just become a horror by losing everything. discouraged, yes. beyond the point of no return, probably not.

and I don't mind the predictable gonna die soon family, hopefully the dog makes it though. the anime seems to give homages to animation from the 70s, where tokusatsu got it's big break. at least IMO.

I kinda like Leon still being the main character. he's the Garo who is not like other Garo before him. I mean, even the soul of his grandfather believed in him, so I can believe Leon will get back his stride and his fire will burn even brighter.

Gold Storm movie will be about the birth of Garo Sho.
Ryuga and Rian on their way to cleanse the armor, where they met humanoid madou item Agou. While Agou is having his own way to free the world from horror, Ryuga will summon Garo Sho to stop it as the protector of the people.

* Dougai Ryuga is now listed as the knight who obtained the title by his own efforts.
* Agou used to be (one of the?) madou weapon created by Souryu Houshi (makai priest) to fight against Horrors before makai knights came along.
* Garo Sho is the evolved stage of Garo, with advanced combat ability.

Gold Storm TV series will have new regulars.
Ryuga and Rian will be on their trip to seal the evil castle Radan.
There they will meet a mysterious guy (a horror) called Jinga, and his partner Amiri. They will also meet a new makai priests Gard, and a makai knight Akitsuki Daigo who will provide obstacles to the MCs.

Synopsis:
The legendary evil castle Radan has the power to turn everything into darkness.
It took 2 makai priests with contrary forces (Yin and Yang) and a lot of sacrifices to seal the demonic structure.
After many years the threat of Radan has been forgotten.
Ryuga and Rian were back on their Horror hunting journey after the incident at Line City.
They met and rescued a girl from Horror Herzbein.
At the same time an old makai priest showed up at the shrine where Radan was sealed. Behind him was Jinga and Amiri. The priest unsealed the place by pulling the shrine sword. The sword broke into 2 blades red and blue, and flew away. A black crystal ball emerged, and on it were numbers counting towards the revival of the evil castle.
After defeating Herzbein Ryuga and Rian saw the red blade flew by. Priestess Ryume of Line City summon the 2 back and ordered them to retrieve the 2 colored blades.
At the same moment makai priest Gard, who seemed to wait for the unseal of the castle to happen, also went on a trip to search for the blades with his mado tool partner Haruna.
Everything has been thoroughly planned by the mysterious man Jinga, who has no fear of makai knights nor priests. His motive is still unknown.

I'm extremely excited for this. It's great to see Ryuuga and Rian back, and it's cool to see Masahiro Inoue and Agent Kei from UltraSeven X in it too.

I'm interested to see what the Garo Sho suit looks like (assuming it exists and isn't another excuse to use primarily CGI for a Ryuga series). The character designs look interesting, although I think the girl in the bikini top and cowboy hat may have gotten lost while trying to find the Shougeki Gouraigan set.
