I don't think Injustice is even popular in Japan. From what I've been told that the Injustice figuart line was mainly market to the US market similar to the DBZ figuarts.
|
Except DBZ is at least popular in Japan and worldwide, so it has a lot of markets to thrive in. Injustice not as much since it is a game not everybody has probably played and features original designs compared to what most people probably want; movie/comic designs.

Just a friendly reminder that this is the S.H. MonsterArts topic ;)

J/K, but seriously, it's not like we have anything MA related to talk about. |
Anyone have any clue when we might be hearing more info (or lack thereof) on Monsterarts?

Xavier from Otakon made it sound like that a possible S.H MonstersArts Zero line would be made for the Showa stuff.

Yeah looks very statue-esque, I’m out.
EDIT: You should've mentioned that the post says it's an articulated foot. Still not buying it though, could be a Kotobukiya-like statue with a few ball joints. EDIT 2: Also, it says it goes up for pre-order next week so Web Exclusive confirmed? Would suck for me because I don’t have Bluefin. And I don’t want to pay overpriced middleman prices for MonsterArts. So either way I’m screwed -.- |

Welp, guess this means I won't be getting Rebirth Godzilla, and need to get on to selling those books. |
If we are legitimately getting GMK Goji I will be so happy that I never got around to ever getting some sort of SHMA Godzilla.
|
Hmm, though another Godzilla, as long as it's posable I'll be happy to see something come out of this line that's new, especially new Millennium stuff.
I will be so sad if it's just a Zero statue, even if it's a statue with some joints. I have no interest in those. |
If this is in fact a true GMK Godzilla MonsterArt, then yes!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I hope Monsterarts are still coming but I don't really want another Godzilla.

After GMK Godzilla all I need is Showa Mecha G, Showa Gigan and Megalon to be satisfied.
Maybe Jet Jaguar too because why the hell not. |
Jet Jaguar is a must.
|
The major want I'd been hoping to come away from this line with (beyond the Heisei stuff) is Megalon. Being excited to see "just" another Godzilla is a place I wasn't expecting to be in with this line just two years ago.

So how likely do you guys think is it that this new GMK SHMA is a Web-Exclusive in Japan?
I can’t stop thinking about Bluefin’s “Pre-orders open next week!”-thing from Facebook. Because usually Japan drops pre-orders first, then Bluefin follows, right? And if Japan opens a pre-order before the 1st of a month it’s usually Web-Exclusives from what I’ve seen so far. What I’m trying to say is: If they really made a new articulated MonserArts figure, and a Godzilla at that, selling it through the Web-Shop only might be a bad omen for how this line is doing in Japan. |
Yeah, the "pre-orders next week" thing seems like a giveaway that it'll be a web exclusive.
Unless Bluefin have just jumped the gun and they really mean a full reveal next week. Roughly around the right time for the preview drop as well I guess. |
See, that's what I was thinking. Full reveal sounds logical considering the magazines come out around the 20th. But pre-order?
And if this really is a Web-Exclusive… damn. I mean still better than statues, but… damn. |
It's a web exclusive in Japan and will be released normally in the US like every other MonsterArt.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, aside from the Mosugoji figure (and the Juniors which I don’t count) every Godzilla SHMA (as in Godzilla himself) was available at retail. Sure, repaints were released through the Web Shop, but not the initial version. And the Mosugoji-one was Showa, and apparently Showa is of lesser interest in Japan. Otherwise I can’t really explain the extreme lack of it in this line. But Heisei and Millennium? Like 70-80% of those were sold in stores. You had your sets or more unique releases exclusive to the Web-Shop, but Godzilla's and his main enemies were always retail releases. Maybe that is a reason why this line isn’t doing well, but that's exactly what I'm thinking about: If the new mold is a Web-Exclusive release, then this line is really not doing well. Like, you can’t even blame the AvP-releases if they make a new Godzilla and don’t think it's interesting enough to sell it in stores. Completely ignoring Bluefin, because that’s not what I’m asking, Bluefin will release it in the US anyways. It’s Japan I’m thinking about. Because sure, with Dragonball they have said it sells well enough in the US that they can keep releasing stuff even though it’s not a top-seller in Japan. At least that’s what I heard. But still, new molds of important characters (Awakening Goku, Beerus, SS Trunks) are retail-releases in Japan, not Web-Exclusives. And I don’t know about Sailor Moon but I believe main characters are sold in stores too. So yeah, that’s what grinds my gears when it comes to SHMA. And I’m pretty sure at this point I’m thinking way too much about this and Bluefin will probably be wrong. Because I expect that the new Godzilla is unveiled next week and goes up for pre-order February 1st in Japan as usual. Or maybe they unveil it, Bluefin puts pre-orders up at the end of the week and Japan just waits until February. |
What are you talking about? All of the MonsterArts that were web exclusives in Japan sans the initial releases like Garuda were sold by Bluefin as regular releases. The same goes for DBZ and Sailor Moon. For example, Uranus and Nepture were web exclusives in Japan, but regular releases in the US.

The point is how well the line is doing in Japan. Because that would be interesting to know as it would say a lot about the future of this line. And a clue for that would be if they can sell the figure in Japanese retail or if they think it won’t be profitable enough and they only sell it through the Web-Shop. This is what interests me, not what Bluefin is doing with the figure. Because, again: All unique Godzilla-molds (Godzilla himself) aside from the Showa one were released in Japanese retail. Not solely through the Web-Shop like for example Biollante or Battra. If a completely new Godzilla mold, and this is what the SokogekiGoji should be, is not potent enough for Japanese retail in Bandai Tamashii’s eyes (and I do believe Japan is the focus with this line, I can’t imagine it sells that much better in the US) it might be hinting at how this line will continue to be on the backburner instead of making a true comeback which we're hoping to see. |
Okay, I'm totally confused now. Someone made a comment about them being a web exclusive in Japan so my response was that Bluefin will release it in the US as a regular release no matter what as they have been. Then some said I was wrong in that Bluefin was not releasing the web exclusives in the US.

We also know that Bluefin usually only makes something available for pre-order if it already is in Japan. Which would mean that this new Godzilla figure goes up in Japan next week. So that would point towards it being a Web-Exclusive. I just asked if that's enough evidence or what you guys think, maybe Bluefin is wrong and they only unveil him next week instead of him being available for pre-roder. That would make sense considering most new Tamashii Bandai products get first shown of in magazines releasing around the 20th of each month. I just wanted to know if we can expect this new figure to be a Web-Exclusive in Japan or not, because for me as someone who doesn’t have the service of Bluefin it would be interesting to know, and also we would get a glimpse of how well this line is doing in Japan if they don’t offer a new Godzilla-mold in Japanese retail.
