You guys made a lot of good points and I feel I definitely have a better understanding of the near constant criticism I see toward TVN. I was wondering if it was warranted or (as the very show this thread is about) is something that gets a lot of undue hate because it's sort of en vogue. I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond.

My big takeaway from all this is that I should check out Excite for subs, but I'm still left with just one question...

What the hell did Owner (Den-O) say when it was translated as "Banana New shoe?" cuz my buddy Walter and I have been saying that to each other for years.

The original line was "Ladies and gentlemen, mesdames et messieurs." They got the first part right, but someone seriously dropped the ball on the French. It was such a memorable fuck-up that TVN has two versions of the episode: one with and one without the banana new shoes.

Banana New Shoes sounds like a 2000s Japanese alternative rock band that mostly does anime theme songs. :lolol
