Given that Sentai is aimed at Kids between 3 and 5 this doesnt feel inappropriate. Mix that with Magiranger trying to go for the Fairytale vibe I dont see how this is unfitting for what the show was going for.

Of course it's not inappropriate. However, compared to the 450 non-Magiranger episodes of sentai I've watched, he sticks out as uniquely juvenile.

Don't get me wrong -- this is a show for kids and should not be taken seriously. But I feel like Mandora Boy is a character that panders to a very young audience. A major reason I love sentai is that it respects children and avoids pandering to them, so when I see it happen, I'm pretty turned off.

Trust me, as someone who has seen over 1000 episodes of Super Sentai: There's more stuff like Mandora Boy in other shows.

There's also the "Peeing Retsu" Chant from the end of Gekiranger Episode 15. And the Ovirapoo Zyudenchi.

And then there's all the audience surrogate kid characters from Kou in Dairanger to Nozomu in Goseiger. And I'm not knocking them as a whole, I'm just saying that a lot of the more kiddy stuff can come out of them because, you know, they're the audience surrogates.

I do trust you. I am still just an intermediate Sentai enthusiast, afterall. But ugh. I'm so not looking forward to getting to those parts! :lol

I guess because it's not in every episode of the show, so it's more easily block-out-able. And it's featured in a series of which I'm otherwise quite fond.

So the lesson here is that if Magiranger weren't so specifically unappealing to me, I maybe wouldn't have had such a huge problem with Mandora Boy.

I like those kid characters better than elements like Mandora Boy. Cause those kids tend to be put through the emotional ringer in a way you never see on American TV.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying kiddy is bad. Kiddy stuff is an inextricable part of Sentai's appeal. I'm saying that the TYPE of kiddy that Mandora Boy represents is annoying to me, personally, and feels like a rare instance of Toei pandering to young children. Though it might not be so rare -- I just haven't seen the other shows that feature such blatant instances.

I feel that at this point, your arguments are a loop of contradictions and I do not think that the discussion will lead anywhere anymore. I'm out.
