I guess so, but it's an odd choice, seeing as how Mewtwo doesn't have that restriction placed upon him.

And speaking of, he spoke in the Japanese Melee. Do you think he'll speak in the English version now, too, or will he still just grunt?

I hope so, even though I never cared for Ice Climbers, I know a lot of people liked them.

I hope Mewtwo has the female voice. Just for the rage that will ensue.

They could just make the female Mewtwo a separate character.
After all, they apparently needed so many more female characters in the game that they made a Marth alt skin her own character.

Mewtwo is genderless, I just find it amusing how bent out of shape some fans get over the VA change. And Lucina was an important enough character in her own game to warrant being a separate character. Hell, she's more well known than Marth or most of the other characters thanks to Awakening's success.

Ice Climbers weren't really a time issue - it was hardware-related. They just weren't feasible on the 3DS. Running on the New 3DS probably would provide the necessary support to not crash the game (or whatever the error specifically was), if such a distinction could be made between the two devices. However, given the desire to have the rosters be identical, that would still mean it's not for many players, so I don't see it happening unfortunately. They were kind of fun to play as.

Mewtwo also doesn't speak. And then it did :p
As for Lucina, I don't play enough Fire Emblem to know much beyond that Marth was still chosen first to return.

And I'm merely attributing the time restraint for why since I like to remain hopeful. While the 3DS does have issues with the Climbers, they could figure out a way to revamp them while remaining faithful, and without a clock ticking down anymore, they don't have to work their asses off to figure them out.
