I'm surprise that it took so long for Gundam to come to the US. America didn't get Gundam until the late 90's. I wonder why a company like Harmony Gold or World Events Productions never brother to bring over Gundam in the 80's? Mecha animes like Robotech and Voltron where big hits at the time. I think Gundam could have been a popular show at the time.

1. The oversaturation occurred AFTER Wing, when they were releasing UC stuff. 2. Canadian distribution. Quote:

This just throws too much at you. If the kicked out the blue and just kept the extra equipment on, then I'd like it. |

"Oh look, what a sad, bland Gundam with it's one horn, no face and no colours, it's so unremark-OH MY GOD PINK EVERYWHERE NOW IT HAS GUNDAM FACE" Like the design is transformable, you can't really judge the one mode independant of the other since it's clear the purpose was to be unassuming and "surprise" you with it's destroy mode, IMOMOMOMO. |

Anyway, I built the HG Arios over the weekend and thought I'd share my thoughts on it. It's probably my favorite transforming HG I've built. There's pretty much zero partsforming, and it looks like a convincing aircraft once you're done. The build is unique too, with lots of unexpected uses of standard polycaps (shoulder PC in waist, ankle PC in shoulder, etc.). The articulation's good, and the gun's pretty neat, even though the gimmick is kinda odd. And it has a stand, just like every gunpla should. Oh, and it looks like a creamsicle. yum. The only downside is the stickers on the wings. I'd give them about a month before they start peeling, and that's generous. Bottom line: it's a great kit that I highly recommend. I've got my eye on the MG RX-78-5 now. It an older kit, but it looks like the forgotten child of the RX-78-2 and the Heavyarms. Thoughts? |
Just finished building RG Destiny Gundam. It was a fun build overall.

You guys think that for the 10th anniversary of 00, Bandai is going to resissue the season 1 kits? I ask this because the prices of those kits on amazon are ridiculous but I'm not sure to wait it out.

I have no idea why you went full on "jerk" mode with your opinion. Unicorn pulls off being a 2 in one machine great, in Unicorn mode it's meant to look like a grunt suit and then of course a full on Gundam in Destroy mode. You call it bland but he's one of the best transformable MS out there. |

Maybe make sure you're arguing with someone who actually disagrees with you first before getting all angsty. |

So, how's the art in the 0079 manga adaptation? I'm thinking it might be a good alternative to the show that won't cause optical agony.

I've been wanting to build a Gundam lately, but I haven't really got any to build, nor money to buy one right now.
So I DLed the MSG series. I have previously seen the movie trilogy, but I wanted to watch it in its original form, see if I got more out of it. I've seen 2 episodes, and so far, I'm pretty hooked. It's all stuff I remember from the Movies, but even so, it feels less rushed, bordering on a little too drawn out in spots, but nothing bad yet. I think I had a problem with the Movie Trilogy in that it felt like it moved so fast, my brain sometimes didn't register that the setting had changed, or that time had passed, or what was really happening, really, all these unfamiliar terms and such. Again, only 2 episodes, but so far, I'm liking this slightly slower feel to it, so I have time to absorb what's going on, who is who and what they're saying. I still wanna build a Gundam, though. |

-HG Red Frame Astray -HGCE Aile Strike You can't go wrong with any of these three, and they aren't that expensive. |

But I prefer 1/100 scale. Though RG Aile Strike was a good build. And while the ones I want are also not terribly expensive (~$50 on Amazon), I just don't have money for them right now. :( Hoping I can buy one next month, though. |

Right now I'm a more focused on UC, ideally my next would be one of RX-78 ver 3 (because I have GunTank and GunCannon), Char's Zaku or Char's Gelgoog (because I already have Char's Z'Gok), or Nu ver Ka to go with Sazabi ver Ka (which is awesome). |

You know what would be a cool premise for the next Build Fighters? If all of the gunpla have individual personalities, or the personalities of their pilots. And the personality of their owner is imprinted on them based on how much they are customized from a straight build.
Or maybe it sounds too much like SD gundam.... |
