Speaking of my favorite Super Sentai, I want to say how much I really love Zyuranger. The show ended up being heavily shadowed by the Power Rangers and even its entire impact on the franchise is due to the fact that it's the first adaptation, but I like this show for exactly what it is. This atmosphere of scary tales, when ridiculous moments coexist with truly creepy ones, is unique for Sentai. I think after the Jetmen it was the only way not to disappoint. Do not try to surpass, but do something completely different. I guess if I adapted this show it would be a Power Rangers/Are You Afraid of the Dark hybrid? I don't know if this is possible, but it seems to me that this is the right direction.

Burai's story was a good one. The whole running out of time stuff was my favorite.

Toei is slowly but surely adding all franchise elements of Kamen Rider to an official online picture book.
https://www.kamen-rider-official.com/zukan/phantoms Why aren't they willing to do the same for Sentai? |
Likely due to lack of any real interest in doing it, from both executives and fans.
|
If you were all to create a new animal-themed Sentai, what would it be like? I'm trying to create my own in a way like Gaoranger.
|
I looked at the Aba DVD from Shout Factory.
If Aba came out on air in 2003 why is the Toei copy right dated 2022 -2023? This was also the case with 5 Man (Series 14) aired in 1990 - 1991. Deka will be 2023 - 2024. Aired in 2004 - 2005 BTW. Any chance that the Shout sets might continue in 2024? I ask this in hopes of seeing Bouken next year get a DVD set from Shout. I'm solid that we'd at least get Magi from Shout. |

They have years of information and photos to make use of! It's no great secret that Power Rangers books have gotten extensive use of promotional photos in the past. Used in books from 30 years ago, and in the Ultimate Archive. Even Super Sentai picture books have been produced. To that end, is there a resource which uses such photos, or someone who took the time to archive some of them? |
Today I'm watching Aba's version of Triassic Triumph.
I had sen the Dino Thunder episode so I have a 2 part question. 1 did Aba have an extra Ranger for Triassic Mode? 2. What happened with the Triassic powers in Aba? Just trying to follow it a bit that's all. |

After Deka this month Shout Factory will have released 749 episodes to USA
DVD dating back to 5 Man. Slightly more than the 700 with MMPR - PR RPM. |
Do the Sentai Movies technically count as Episodes?
|
They're not in the episode list if that's what you mean, no. They are actual movies shown in cinemas, or sometimes direct to DVD
|
No Shout Factory doesn't have the movies. The count was regular
episodes. |
Ah, that makes sense.
|
Now having gotten Jet Man I wonder if E One Entertainment will stop
the Ranger sets again with Deka released. We lost over 2 years last time that happened. Also I wonder if we'd get another Pre Zyu in August. We got Hurri 5 Man Aba Deka |
They'll probably wait until Deka is out before they announce the next Sentai set. If they go back to their old pattern, then the next Sentai they release will be Turboranger.
|
Thanks.
After I ship in The Maze Runner Trilogy I won't buy anything unless Shout brings over another Ranger set so those are the only ones I plan to buy long term. I want to hold on to my cash to get those sets. I just ordered Jet Man yesterday so I caught up the sets. I picked up Jet Man on E Bay yesterday and saved 15 bucks. It would have run over 50 on Shout Factory. Deka will be at my place in a few days. I've been getting them since Zyu. I own all 15. |
Wonder what the outcome will be for Tsubasa? Will he choose either Natsumi or Sononi?
I can imagine Tsubasa dies in sacrifice and passes InuBrother to Natsumi as "InuSister"! |
InuSister would be an incredible payoff.
|
Watching mostly team up movies on You Tube as Shout Factory doesn't have them.
As for the episodes having gotten Deka yesterday in the mail here's a wild card question - Would Shout Factory stop after Go On? Also would the shout sets switch to Blu Ray at some point or would we still see DVD sets come over? Magi is next in either case possibly. Bouken filmed in HD. I'm thinking Bouken might be the switch in point for Blu Ray. Hopefully we see a Magi DVD set soon from Shout. |
I don't think they'll stop after Go Onger. Both Shinkenger and Gokaiger are fan-favourites, so it'd be foolish to skip those.
|
That's a huge help.
I have Zyu - Deka on DVD so by the time I watch Deka hopefully Shout will have Shinken over. It will take 14 years to run through Deka with non stop weekly episodes. It'll be interesting to see how many Shout brings over by then. I started weekly with Zyu 01 The Birth. I held while Deka shipped in. Kaku is 53 weeks explaining why 14 years. |
Today in Japan is the 5th anniversey of the first Sentai show I watched from start to end : Lupinranger VS Patoranger ( feeling old yet ? )
That show and Build were my first steps into Toku after having not seen any of the PR outings in quite some time. I'm pretty sure I discovered this site when I was trying to find news about the current and upcoming shows. Since then, I've never stopped watching and I've gotten to interact and even meet people IRL who love this stuff as much as I do. Thank you all for sharing news, leaks, and so much enthusiasm about these silly and lovely shows !! |
Why would you go around saying lies like "LuPat is 5 years old"? Next you'll tell me it's the 5 year anniversary of the Build/Grease grudge match, part of the beloved "Hazard Trigger" arc?
|
Watching
5 Man Jet Man Aba Deka on Shout Factory DVD Finishing Time Ranger on Shout Factory TV. If we got Aba and Deka , Turbo Ranger might be next in July if 4 months for our 3rd Pre Zyu. I saw Turbo Episode 01 on You Tube. It looked good so I hope Shout brings this over next. 5 Man looked decent having watched one on You Tube as well so another pre Zyu I plan to finish. |
Would you give the Noto to a new Power Rangers series or an adapted Donbrothers into Power Rangers?
Like what I mean is transferring the Noto into another PR series. |
Honestly, I don't know how that'd work.

PR Noto VS. PR Yodon, hypothetically. All planned with various elements weaved in and out with a slow buildup leading to a big finish. |
That sounds like an awesome idea!

What is Saruhara's "Deal" in DonBrothers?
Haruka and Inuzuka both share plot threads with the Notou, while Kijino (As well as Inuzuka) have their plots connected with Miho and the Juuto, and Tarou, being Tarou, is connected with basically everything. Meanwhile, Jiro is a whole ass can of worms with his story arc. But aside from being on the team, Saruhara doesn't have any significant plot points with either faction, nor do we ever see what his bad luck was for joining the team. |
Almost every Sentai team has that one flat or boring member on the team to balance everyone else out.
(Except Jetman and Akibaranger Season 1) |

There?s also a lot weirdness on the periphery with him ex: Donkillerkiller. And his misfortune was his house had an earthquake or something. Also he lost the ability to do haikus for an episode I think it had something to do with the game. |

Alright everyone, Donbrothers is over and about a week has passed so everyone could sort out their thoughts. Tell me in spoiler free terms what you thought of the show and how it compares to Inoue's past works!
|
I finished Kiramager! Pretty good endgame for a very solid, well-done Sentai series, and while Emperor Yodon is definitelt a let down from the combo of Yodonna and Garza, he's still threatening enough to be a serious threat.

I'm not sure what it is, but despite the silliness of it all, it felt like a very adult show? One of the big things is that our main characters are simply older than normal, but also much of the drama outside of the monsters had very mature themes and were dealt with in a very fable-y-- very much the essence of how the story of Momotaro is essentially a children's tale that is still relevant to adults. Don Brothers has easily jumped into the top 10 Sentai for me. I'm actually starting to worry that my list is going to be all Reiwa now. |

So it's not recency bias when I say DonBros is my favorite Sentai so far. While it's not necessarily my favorite because of it's unconventional approach to the Sentai formula, the writing is some of the funniest I've seen. If you're familiar with Inoue's past shows, you can expect alot of dramatic irony and character interplay. I think this series most approaches his goofy yet earnest style (the man has written alot of goofy eps in Rider) rather than the bleak and mean-spirited writing some people feared. Many bonds were formed indeed |
I say the Noto deserve to be adapted into Power Rangers.
Call them either the "Doom Raiders" or "Psycho Rangers 2.0" |
