Suits and miniatures. A bit of flashy CGI is okay for the attacks and such, but the actual combatants need to be suits. That's probably one of the reasons I've been digging Ninninger so much, it seems like they've gone back to focusing on suits a little more. I can't stand purely CGI mech battles.

I prefer good old stop motion and miniatures. Nothing against CGI, but it isn't that great a lot of the time in Sentai. There's very few that I've seen that I thought looked really good. The craftsmanship and time that goes into the stop motion and miniatures is just breathtaking and adds to the value of both enjoyment and quality of a show.

The Live-Action Gattai, like we got recently with Kyoryuger. I don't like the CG stuff much.

Suits are always going to win out, which is why I excluded them.
However, my main question was concerning the combination and individual mecha actions.

For example, if there was a series featuring a jet mech, would you prefer a jet miniature flying around, or a CG jet flying around?
While the miniature provides a more "Real" look, the CG lets it perform more spectacular actions.

I have noticed that being an issue in certain series, so I'll give you that. However, it's not as clear cut. Watch Landlion scenes. It feels like it never even touches the ground despite it's legs moving, so there is some broken stop motion around, too.

Really? Why?

I don't like the CGI much. It feels like a break from the action whereas the miniatures and suits continued the flow of action for me.

I feel like I could go with either to be honest. Both the Miniatures and CGI have their advantages and disadvantages to me.

This is absolutely the right area.

I just always loved the look of a LA Gattai sequence. The CG ones never look right, somehow. The mechs are to perfect. To shiny. To fake looking, for lack of a better word. To over-the-top with how they combine.
